I don't know it was just me, I tested 2008 ZX-10R in Vancouver BC. I found it a bit twitch, and thought maybe it was because the tires were brand new and it the road was a bit wet. But I found that is the case for a lot of testers. But I must give my respect to the quality and the beautiful engine - but it is still a bit too much for me. Recommend ZX-6R for rider under 160lb like myself.

I think its great. I currently have a 07 GSXR 1000 and am at that point of trading it in for something new. I might consider the 09 Yamaha R1 or Kawasaki ZX10R.

I don't care how many races this or that. I drive it for personal enjoyment. They are all great and I have only had Suzuki my entire life. I have ridden some of the other and enjoyed myself.

About deciding between '09 R1 and ZX-10R, i don't know what to answer as well.

The new R1 engine just blows torque to the tires while opening the gas leaving the corners, like no other.

However, Kawa always had plenty power delivery. Some friends of mine, one with '05 ZX10 and the others with '05 to '07 R1 use to put side by side sometimes. The ZX10 is with 200hp (dyno) and it's accelerating like a hayabusa on straight lines, taking over the R1s. But i think R1 has a better solution for corners.

About insurance... Since i live in brazil, a R1 costs about R$54.000. The insurance is about R$9.000, really expensive. The govern applies many taxes to imported vehicles, the R1 (+- 11.000) would cost no more than R$24.000. Anyway, we can't change everything. Best way to deal with it is to work hard and earn enough money to keep the bike.

Also the hp numbers are higher than last years zx-10 the power curve however is more mellow, and linear so it does feel, less ballsy per se but once the bike starts really screaming is where you will notice the difference

I'd just like to comment that typically factories DO generally rate their bikes at the crank as well as with ram-air as it can add up to 10+ horsepower depending on air temperature and elevation. It is true that dynoing a machine does in fact give it a lower peak hp number do to no ram-air, furthermore the majority of dyno's read rear wheel hp instead of crank hp. I can say that I have read various dyno results for this bike and it does have the highest bhp in comparison to the big four.
