@18maricar "Dev" is short for "Develop", meaning to run the film through chemicals and "fix" the images as either negatives or transparencies, which you can then scan and print.
@Harleeeeey It depends on how hard you pull the cord, which determines how far round the top spins and how much film is exposed each time. I can't remember to be honest and all my negs have been cut up. Not many though - maybe eight from a 36 exposure.
I think I would just let them develop the negatives without cut then ask them to print the picture in separate peaces and i'd stick them together on a thick piece of paper
would you teach me how to convert after i scan the negative film in my computer to a regular color picture? ( i used the regular scanner) thank you so much
@tinaqyj Hi, if you use a "print" film as I did here you'll end up with negatives. These should be scanned with a scanner that has a negative mode (and a backlight). The scanner will handle the colours and give you a normal colour scan.
If you use "slide" film, you'll end up with colour transparencies. You'll need a backlight on your scanner, but they won't need to be converted to colour.
I don't know if it's possible to scan a neg as a trannie and convert it in Photoshop. Anyone else?
how did you develop the photos? can you actually get them developed as a really long photo or do they only come out as a long negative? THIS VID WAS A HUGE HELP btw. you're great!
@emzoii2009 I don't know of any lab that will develop and print them as a long photo. Part of the problem is that they all come out at different lengths, depending on how much the camera spins (it can spin more or less than 360 degrees).
I'm planning to print mine on A3 paper, crop them and laminate them myself.
Some of Sony's new digital cameras (such as the NEX-3, NEX-5, and Alpha a33) have a good "sweep panorama" mode that's about the closest thing to this in digital form, but they'll only do about 180 degrees.
yay! great review thanks! i just read about this one in a magazine and couldn't quite imagine how this would work. have you ever tried it with a black/white film? :)
@matucana4 This was recorded on a Sanyo Xacti VPC HD2. I don't think they make that any more but the Xacti range is still going. It's a good camera, does 720p HD, and has a good macro focus for close-ups.
What I don't like about it is that because of its shape, it won't stand up on its own, so you need to hold it or use a tripod. Also because of its shape, it can topple over quite easily on a small tripod. The lens is angled upwards, so you need to point it down a bit, which unbalances it.

Do you put the camera to R mode when you don't shoot? Or do you just leave it on sunny or cloudy between the shoots?

what if your computer doesnt have negative mode?
selenelele1010 1 year ago
@selenelele1010 If you scan them yourself, you need a scanner that can scan negatives.

Does it come in digital? I'm familiar with the debates between old and new, but still curious...
