  • Hi! I started this with my ringneck today, at the start he bited me a lot, but then, after some tries, we got that was a good thing and started leting me touch and open his wings :) but beeing upside down still is a trouble, we will keep trying thanks for the video!

  • @kiliparrot What treat are you using?

  • @sahzmb Whatever he likes. I use a combination of nuts, seeds, and fruits. By changing it up I can maintain motivation.

  • so good

  • omg LoL kili at the backround!

  • kili is the perfect bird!!

  • my 2nd parakeet keeps biting me when i hold him......Should i hold him until he stops trying to fight back?

  • what do you give them as reward?

  • I just have to say that you sir are AMAZING! Thank you thank you thank you for putting up all of these videos. They are incredibly helpful! I just bought a Green Cheek Conure and I've been target training him for the past 3 days. It works like a charm! Thank you again!

  • Can I give you a reward for being calm when you're on your back? :D

  • I love all your videos! I have a sun conure named "sunny" and I was wondering what treats you would recommend using

  • how long will you do this each time?

  • Very well done!!! I applaud responsible, knowledgeable, parrot owners! You have beautiful birds!!

  • hi, i just got a Jardines parrot and he's about 10 years old. over time he got used to me and let's me pet him but when i try to touch his wings he starts "growling" at me and bites . also when i try to teach him something all he wants to do is be petted, how do i get him to pay attention? also what are the best treats for parrots? thanks

  • how u doing for wings ?

  • wow u r amezing

  • Nice job raising those parrots!

  • How do you do this without getting bit, I just tried it with my sun conure and got bit several times????

  • My parrot would not let me grab him like this without freaking out completely, any other technique?

  • What is your strategy for disciplining for biting?

  • @illigersinSpokane Do nothing.

  • Are there any other taming exercises? I have a macaw that is a rescued bird, great bird but won't let me touch him at all......any advice?

  • @illigersinSpokane Well use a similar technique but start further out. Find how close you can get to the parrot without it biting or freaking out. Feed some treats, put your hand closer. Take a look at my taming one person parrot video. That is the technique you are looking for to get within grabbing distance. Then continue with what you see here.

  • I heard these birds are gentle giants, has he bit you yet?? that beak is big ??? does the cape parrot bite hurt?

  • @illigersinSpokane He bit me once when I was putting the harness on. He didn't bite hard and it only hurt a little. He doesn't know the strength of his own beak yet but otherwise he doesn't even try to bite.

  • Nice work on all accounts Michael. Its nice seeing the progression.

  • this kid is the bird master, these videos are great.

  • Could you use this same holding upside down technique on an african grey?

because ive tried but my parrot just bites the tips of my fingers.

he's usually really tame.. could it maybe be he just hates being on his back?

  • @RoxiiXoX Quite likely he doesn't like that but with extensive taming I don't see why it shouldn't work for any parrot. If he's biting then take it slower. I jumped in and went all the way with Truman because he wasn't stressing too much about it. If the parrot is overwhelmed start by just touching its back, then cupping hand on back, holding the back and tipping back an inch, etc. Progressively tip it back more and more. Only then can you let go of feet and hold on its back. Give treats.

  • @kiliparrot Thankyou (:

  • My macaw LOVES to lay on his back when i go visit him he lays on his back in my hand and the workers told us he laid 20 minutes on his back playing :)

  • I have a senegal now, got him about a week ago, he's 3. What are you feeding him as a reward?

  • I love all of your videos!! I am learning so much from them! I cant wait to see how Truman progresses :)

  • Truman is coming along so well! I'm very excited to see future videos :)
