Hi! I started this with my ringneck today, at the start he bited me a lot, but then, after some tries, we got that was a good thing and started leting me touch and open his wings :) but beeing upside down still is a trouble, we will keep trying thanks for the video!
I just have to say that you sir are AMAZING! Thank you thank you thank you for putting up all of these videos. They are incredibly helpful! I just bought a Green Cheek Conure and I've been target training him for the past 3 days. It works like a charm! Thank you again!

@illigersinSpokane Well use a similar technique but start further out. Find how close you can get to the parrot without it biting or freaking out. Feed some treats, put your hand closer. Take a look at my taming one person parrot video. That is the technique you are looking for to get within grabbing distance. Then continue with what you see here.
@illigersinSpokane He bit me once when I was putting the harness on. He didn't bite hard and it only hurt a little. He doesn't know the strength of his own beak yet but otherwise he doesn't even try to bite.
@RoxiiXoX Quite likely he doesn't like that but with extensive taming I don't see why it shouldn't work for any parrot. If he's biting then take it slower. I jumped in and went all the way with Truman because he wasn't stressing too much about it. If the parrot is overwhelmed start by just touching its back, then cupping hand on back, holding the back and tipping back an inch, etc. Progressively tip it back more and more. Only then can you let go of feet and hold on its back. Give treats.
My macaw LOVES to lay on his back when i go visit him he lays on his back in my hand and the workers told us he laid 20 minutes on his back playing :)

@kiliparrot What treat are you using?

@sahzmb Whatever he likes. I use a combination of nuts, seeds, and fruits. By changing it up I can maintain motivation.

Could you use this same holding upside down technique on an african grey?
because ive tried but my parrot just bites the tips of my fingers.
he's usually really tame.. could it maybe be he just hates being on his back?
