  • Surely Coogan had some idea of the questions? Otherwise this is incredible!

  • "My audience is divided to early morning farmers and late night returning ravers"

    brilliant!!

  • "idi Amin is tremendously good at connect 4"! funniest man ever! coogan is pure comdey gold

  • 'Thrice weekly with Sonia Manion's Norfolk nights'......Coogan's voice borders on poetic

  • was that all scripted?

  • @tryharder75 All improvised.

  • Lynne, these are sex people !

  • STOP GETTING BOND WRONG!!!!

  • Canned laughter just ruins it for me, I know when its funny and when its not supposed to be.

  • @nbmufc94 Are you joking?

  • @nbmufc94 @TheAnxiousMan It must have been a pretty big can, that can fit an entire studio audience in it.

  • lynn its hotter than the sun

  • I would have paid a year's wages to watch Alan Partridge interview the Bee Gees.

  • 13 James Corden fans..

  • It's definitely part improvised, he does similar things on his live shows.

  • Early morning farmers and late night returning ravers. LOL

  • There was no way in hell that was improvised, it was far too detailed and funny. Wonderfully written and well performed by coogan and Anderson

  • @AlexFruen I'm not sure. He's pretty well known for becoming Partridge on set... or he was. It's almost another person for him to be... like Lily Savage was for Paul O'Grady.

I mean he probably had an idea of what he'd be asked like most interviewees, but I got the feeling it wasn't quite scripted. I'd be interested to find out for sure one way or the other though...

  • Steve's one of the best improvisers ever.

  • haha, i love how he picked out the town of norwich, probably the uncoolest town in england!

  • @davevo76 Norwich is city.

  • SPICEWORLD

  • For the record, not sure if it's been mentioned below or not, but from 4:02-4:14 he is referring to the Bee Gees walking off the show - this show was the week after the episodes in which the incident happened.

  • this guy is amazing

  • @shaundignam,if you like this have a look at"the day today with Alan Partridge"or brass eye Chris Morris,

    one day you'll thank me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jakers818833 absolutely classic, whatch alan partridge at the races

  • For the record, if the Bee Gees can't take a bit of gentle ribbing - because clearly Clive Anderson can given that he's subjecting himself to one of the most audaciously obnoxious creations in British comedy - then fuck 'em.

  • Quite simply amazing!

  • he is so like Richard Medely it is scary

  • has anyone got a link for "Clive Anderson Talks Back richard branson"? I cant find it anywhere..

  • Looks like a sharper version of Gordon Brown 10 years ago.

  • Genius

  • alan partridge destroying clive is AWESOME

  • he looks a bit like Prince Charles

  • Brilliant. Shame AP ceases to exist. Coogan should have done more of him.

  • @gh05 I believe he might be making a comeback with partridge in a film or something possibly? I bloody hope so anyway...

  • @kivenevik final script was signed off last week, according to Armand Iannuci via THR. Seems like an Alan Partridge film may be a year away..

  • @TheCamguin is this internet rumour or 100% fact?

  • @yazzman13 there is supposed to be a film

  • This is an absolute masterclass.

  • AHA!

  • sometimes its hard to understand the errr, jordy people.

  • Clive Anderson didn't even bring up the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre issue. The ruddy idiot.

  • This really is Coogan at his best - I love this character! Nice idea to do the interview entirely in character! I actually tackle an Alan Partridge on my impressions video. There aren't any special effects on the video, but unless you're 'a big posh sod with plumbs in yer mouth', you may get a laugh or two! Knowing me Mike, knowing you youtube'.

  • The blazer Steve has on I had it made for my son with the badge exacly the same also I had the tie done aswell. I ha it done for when he wenyt to see him in liverpool everything is spot on with it. If anyone wants to make any reasonable offers on it? • Smell my chees you Mother!

  • Sorry cheese, "Smell my cheeses you Mother!"

  • Cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...and before you call me a nasty bastard again. That previous quote was in it's entirety, including the ending. Have a search for "alan partridge anecdote" on this site :)

  • How dry another quote, I am aware of the said anecdote as I stated I had retracted the comments before your reply! I called you a "nasty bastard" because you called me a idiot! I knew I had heard that story before I thought that sounds familiar! So to use another comic quote "Go back to Russia!" " Barney the Simpsons!"

  • Right I'll tell you an anecdote. In 1974 I was catching the London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat beside a tall good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies; buckaroo! I looked up and saw it was none other than Peter Purves, it was the height of his Blue Peter career. He said "You jammy bastard" and quick as a flash I replied "Don't be blue, Peter" Needless to say, I had the last laugh, now fuck off!

  • Indeed you did, indeed you did Sir!

  • idiot. It's a Partridge quote

  • Comment removed

  • Aha!

  • Also it's alot easier to quote people it's a bit harder to write something in "the style of..." just thought I'd let you know!

  • proves how far he's gone with the character to go on this show- though i'm never sure if it's really that 'live'

  • truly excellent

  • Cock piss Partridge

  • alan would rather chris rea didnt bring his guitar to his barbeque.

  • If i may digress,i think the bee gee's overreacted on this show

  • Me too. They couldn't handle Anderson's wit.

  • wow, as interviews in character go coogan did very well here, entertaining clip.

  • They should never have taken Clive off tv!

  • Oh This is just comedy Gold !

  • Clive Anderson seems remarkably posh here, he's not like that anymore.

  • Brilliant!

  • hello....can you explain it please :)

  • haha hes really talented to be able to do a full interview in character.. LEGEND

  • Knowing me, knowing you aha ha

  • Coogan is the genius of british comedy.

  • wasnt bill odie on this episode?

  • I love to get my hands on her mammary glands .

    ah ha

  • like morrissey!

  • Coogan will always make me laugh.

  • Great wit, Alan!!

  • Well before Sasha and Gervais (I love them too) the monolith of the character driven fly on the wall moc-umentory award will always, always go to Sir Steve Coogan and doesn't Clive Anderson look too muck like a Sandi Toksvig in men's drag?

  • He does have the Toksvig shrug.

  • 5:40 -5:50 cracks me up every time

  • "I've got cheese!!! This is cheese!!"

  • Genius.

  • Seeing Clive Anderson engaged in a sparring match with a fictional character and losing - words can't describe how wonderful this is.

  • YES! I'm not a fan of his and this is just stunning to watch.

  • @cottonwhiskersuk clive came back at him at 5:12 though! LOL

  • coogans executes the character of partridge with surgical precision...its great to watch a comedy master at work.

  • @betsy567 Fuck that, I was devastated (slight exaggeration XD) when I found out Alan Partridge wasn't a real person. XD

  • rob brydon helped steve coogan with the alan partridge charecter so thats a stupid comment rob brydon is funny as fuck

  • heheheh this is really good!!!!

  • The man is a god

  • it is amazing how ignorant you are

  • LOL on the beegess interview one of the guys said In fact i might just leave and got up and they all left it was really arkward and funny

  • Steve Coogan, pure comedy genius. Pual Calf and Alan Partridge such a contrast in character and they both work so well. as opose to Ricky Gervais who simply portrays himself in all his roles, i do like Ricky but doesn't even come close to Steve Coogan's ability

  • legend!

  • always good to finish the sentence

  • I'm not going to accuse Ricky Gervais of stealing Partridge for David Brent but...... oh fuck it, yes I am.

  • the funny thing is everyone has met someone like Partridge or Brent, very clever comedy

  • Not really, Alan is a misanthropist whereas Brent strives to be accepted and popular. Rob Brydon in Marion and Geoff is similar to Alan but there are differences in character to silence any claims of plagiarism.

  • Never really considered the Geoff out of Marion and Geoff comparison but fair point. I think Partridge and Brent are definitely both similar in terms of being self-centered and always end up getting themselves in the s**t!

  • Dont want to sound picky but Rob Brydon's character is actually called Keith. Keith is the complete opposite of Alan but as a result is just as unpopular. Alan is scornful of society; especially youth, which makes him completely out of touch and as a result he is rejected by his family. Similarly Keith is just as unwanted by wife Marion and their 2 children, but rather than being hateful like Alan, Keith is actually too nice. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum but are equally disliked

  • rob brydon just isnt funny though lets be honest!!

  • You didnt really need to write "lets be honest". I take "lets be honest" as a given in most statements.

But in response to your comment I disagree with you entirely to the point of hatred toward your existence. Brydon is funny.

  • Yep!

  • Immensely subtle, immensely intelligent. No wonder there's no American version of him in the works.

  • so true!

  • @lurdanhelhart there making an american version, on nbc in 2011 starring john krasinski from the american office

  • @ThePokeyPictures Yeh? Wow.. Why?

  • @sodadreamer21 it was such a hit in the u.k., the office uk had alot of success, and they want to see if alan partridge will

  • @ThePokeyPictures A little part of me just died..

  • @sheepeasy y

  • @ThePokeyPictures I don't want to be petty about it, but I fail to see how Alan Partridge could be portrayed for US audiences? The US and the UK share a lot of history, but it's impossible to transfer things seemlessly, e.g. what's the American equivolent of Norwich, Alan's accent..etc

If they change the name from Alan Partridge then it's cool, but it'd be kinda lame if the American version of Alan became the most well known.. :(

  • @sheepeasy i think the equivelent of norwich is rockville maryland, ive been to both and theyre very similar and alan is a bit like a cruder michael scott so i think it would work gr8 if they workshopped it a touch

  • @sheepeasy The US ought not to bother doing their own version of Alan Partridge. is the idea floating around solely on the basis of the popularity it already has? if so, then the true driving force is making money (it's what the American TV execs had in mind when they tried to get the US version of Red Dwarf going). the US already has it's own classics - why is it then that when a British programme gets successful they feel the need to make their own version? why so insecure? theres no need.

  • @sheepeasy Too bad the rest of you didn't.

  • Very, very clever and amazingly funny.

  • Comment removed

  • I still think Partridge is the funniest character ever put on TV
