the tarahumara indians make the kenyans look like sprinters, their problem is they don't trust or understand the white mans ways. They routinely run 100-200 miles at a stretch and they also smoke and drink. But they have a perfect diet and don't look at running as exhausting. The tarahumaras put in their 10,000 hours from childhood.
Only logic I don't understand here is numeric... the premise of discussion is potential and opportunity. If 1 million Kenyian boys run 10-12 miles daily, and 15 become the top runners in the world what capitalization is there for the remaining 999, 985? While running has it's own set of benefits, you may insert other activities to get a more clear picture of reality in capitalization. In well spread diversity the concept would be feasible.
Just purchased outliers after i got off work this evening. I need to get to sleep but i can't wait to start it tomorrow. I need to start putting in my 10,000 hours
Actually, a professor of psychology recommended the book to me, LOL
And how is this "pseudo-intellectual"
P.S. The social sciences don't have any intellectual stimulatory properties.
If you want to experience the maximum feeling of intellectual stimulation you must take up advanced mathematics. Not easy subjects like the social sciences, LOL
His work may or may not be average, that's just an opinion until you have a way of measuring it that you'd like to divulge.
Using the "pseudo-intellectual" term to describe him is a baseless accusation. Where does he claim to be something he is not? Gladwell is very anti-pretension from everything I've heard him say.
I think you should listen to, and take to heart, what Feynman had to say about educated people who take on an "intellectual-club" type of attitude.
I can see that there is tons of human potential that hasn't been tapped into yet, but how do you get someone to run 12 miles a day? How do you convince someone that some work is meaningful?

I enjoyed his work, although I must conclude that Gladwell is a pseudo-intellectual. His work is average, it reminds of 'Freakonomics'.
These books are marketed towards an 'uneducated' crowd who are ignorant to psychology and social sciences.

Love Malcom Gladwell. He's so good at keeping his cool and I think that he is so successful because he inspires inspiration.
