@Toby2194 John and Paul were no longer writing songs together, and they were really fighting for leadership. Not only that, but Ringo had tried to leave the band before (though everyone convinced him to come back), and Paul and John were basically denying everything George had been offering by then (Songs that went on to be hits like "Isn't It a Pity"). One reason was because of John's attachment to Yoko, and it was sort of distancing him and Paul, so they never worked fluidly anymore.

Also, following The White Album and the discontinuation of touring, a lot of their joy in playing music was lost, as they went from live studio recordings to multi-track. The reason Let It Be was released after Abbey Road (even thought it was recorded first) was because The Beatles were trying to rekindle that old feeling from all playing together.
