  • @ChaostheClown yes, i am very aware of the drum corps activity.

  • immagina that Phantom won from those basses :D

  • wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • sportbras ladies sportbras. holy moly

  • still the lamest vis from a bassline ever.

  • THAT. IS. AWESOME.

totally wish my bass line could do that.

  • @nocturnalgirl11 you can .. .all it is is a kind of carrier xD

  • Wait just something I noticed. They don't have the weird cosmic drums they had in finals. Did they get them mid season or something

  • Oh my god!

  • I remember seeing this live in Atlanta. It blew my mind.

  • i ddnt bass drums cud do that

  • how the hell do they do that... i saw the show live and i was just in total shock when i saw it

  • i don't understand how that works...

  • One contact point on the harness? How do you do that? It's typical to have 4 on any harness, to hooks and 2 support below.

  • Horn snap at :54 tits

  • i love the blue devils i want that carrier so much it be so cool.

    spinnin a 26 or 28 in.

if any1 knows were to get them tell me

  • i could never trust myself with a spinner on my harness. I would always be spinning lol

  • Those are only custom.

  • That's so cool!!!!!!!! I wonder if somebody got hurt spining the drum?

  • what kind of harnesses are those??

  • idk if anyones said it. but for all you WGI fans. North Coast Academy did it the season before the blue devils. big woop. im not a BD hater. im just saying, im not impressed.

  • @saltman51 agreed with the "not a BD part. i'm the same way"

  • How the heck did the get them to spin the basses exactly together? Did they work with the colorguard?

  • @betterdrummerjoe Practice :)

  • i want one of those

  • hahahah got thoes

  • our high school bass line is gonna have those harnesses next year

  • what are they called? where are you guys buying them?

  • im not my friends dad can make them.

  • @labtec21294 hey my bass line would really like to get 5 of these spinning racks. can you give me contact info for your friends dad?

  • @labtec21294 were u from so i can look yall up for ur show i want to see some spins. if u wouldnt mind.

  • @labtec21294 can i transfer to your high school now

  • @labtec21294 too badd youll still suck

  • @24jakeDB9 Immature.

  • OMG BEAST

  • I have seen this so many times, but for some reason the Blue Devils made it so much cooler!

  • I wish our school had those harnesses. We can't even afford nice ones...yet.

  • i know the guy who invented that phoenix christian used it in 02 div 3 in arizona

  • i'm pretty sure NCA played more notes too lol

    fail.

  • Insane. Super sick. Devils rock!

  • how are they doin that?!!?!?!?!?!?!

  • haha i wanna see some highschool do that, first off those harnesesses are like a billion dollars

(sarcasm), second off you have to apply just enough force to have it finish right with the ability to adjust because of wind speeds.

  • i've seen high school lines do it during indoor as well there ole buddy

  • this is an old trick. i've seen high school lines do it in indoor.

  • I would so put one picture on each side of the drum and spin it as fast as i can so that it makes an animation

  • what are the names of the carriers/totes they are using for the basses?

  • dude...the 50-60's...who cares...my opinion...

  • Dude that spin is sweet, but ikshields is right most college and high school bands in the 50s and 60s did it.

  • Is it just me, or in High school marching bands, the color guard is mainly girls, and in Drum Corps, the color guard is mainly guys...?

  • its split 50/50

  • There are more guys in colorguards in Drum Corps most of the time because guy colorguards are a lot better and more dedicated (it was really the only place in high school they probably fit in).

  • I'm sure alot of female guard members would disagree with your comment.

  • Haha, most likely, but I'm sticking to my statement.

  • An All girls gaurd won Indoor last year.

  • if i was in dci i would play with that all day lol

  • That's what she said? =D

  • our drumline needs some of those

  • that was so sick, but mine cant afford e' were to welfare lol

  • how the hell do they spin the bass drums

  • It's actually their carriers.

I saw this show in Hattiesburg.

    It was amazing.

  • That would have been crazier if they moved around while doing that.

  • they did this in theyre 1993 show too i think. some year around there.

  • I believe they should have stuck with the "cool" factor with jazzy shows

  • did they take off their drums to do that?

  • I don't think so, but i may be wrong.

  • yeah you're right. they have like spinning harnesses i think.

  • There a lot of good things that float around in BD, but I never believed in their bass technique.

  • Get it Harvey!

  • Lame, I think Morehead St. College had the first spinning bass drums back in the late 90's, I would expect more from BD, maybe thats why their drums scores dropped so much. Hopefully they are better next year! Just my opinion.

  • Way way WAY off with the origins of bass drum spinners, pal!

1950's - 1960's. College marching bands and plenty of high schools too. It's an old high-stepper era favorite -- BD just dug it up for a cute, totally retro effect.

  • "Shut up you old fart"??!!

Okay, I will. As soon as you can shave, Baby Einstein.

(That gives me about 10 years, I figure...)

    lol...

  • Who found time to look at the drums? When that guard was tearing it up!!! Kick ass gaurd!

  • im sorry but...did you see the guard in that vid? It was crazy amazing exchanges

  • never noticed it but that was cool

  • i agree with this guy but phantom got the exchange this year :]

    GO LOW BRASS

  • I'd expect to see this in a marching band show. To be honest I think it's kind of lame.

  • I agree to some degree. I also think the Blue Devils should bring back a strong latin book...

  • can i ask who has done it before?

  • My god, I can't believe nobody knows that virtually every college marching band in America had bass drum spinners for YEARS in the 1950's and 1960's!!!!!

(Wow -- do we have a serious cultural memory loss problem in this country, or what!?)

My high school in Indiana even had a couple of old spinners around in the early '80s, left over from earlier drum sections. For all I know, they may still be there.

  • dude i went to a system blue clinic last weekend and i got to use one of those basses. they were so awesome. oh and i don't care if u don't believe me

  • still a cool visual. and i want them.

  • they must have bought the harnesses from north coast academy.

they're a WGI world class group who got like 4th at championships this past year.

  • the bass spin wasn't much better live, in fact, it was even harder to pick out when you don't have a camera to zoom in. (I went to World Championships to watch)

  • way to steal that shit from wgi 08 north coats academy buncha bitches

  • dude people have done that WAY b4 then.... =p

  • ok, its north COAST academy

  • Sore loser punks.

  • look at the guard!! they are incredible!

    all those exchanges are flawless

    WOW!

  • GUARD? LOOK AT THE FREAKING SPINNING BASS DRUMS!? =p hehehe

  • wooo second place...go Phantom

  • thats so tight. i wish the basses at my school could do that. except for we're far from that! lol

  • epic

  • sweetest bass visual ever. saw it live

  • same here i went fuckin bananas

  • lol bananas

but I agree with the badassness

  • wow, can someone explain how they did that to me?

    that's was pretty cool =)

  • damn thats all im gonna say

  • they spinned their bass when they practice at our high school field.

  • dat sh!t was tough

  • I watched that show like seven or eight times, and only managed to catch that three times. Dammit!

  • i dont think they did it in any of their earlier shows, didnt catch it either til around mid season

  • I saw them for the first time in Utah, so I didn't see them early on. Still, that's what I get for always watching the hornline...

  • they did it in san antonio.

  • Which was after Utah. I missed it at San Antonio.

  • Cadets 311

Im not sure but I think Riverside Community College used the spinning basses. But thier mostly BD people anyway so there wouldnt be a problem of using the same concepts i dont think.

  • north coast did that, not rcc

  • i saw an independent world line at dayton use those last year. but i completely forgot the name of the line.but there show was pretty sick.

  • NorthCoast Academy. The Show was called Unsquare.

  • north coast academy

  • lulz that is so amazing, I would love to see that

  • i saw them perform this show in murfeesborrough tennesse it was amazing

  • I moved to the boro AFTER the show. I missed any shot I had this year of seeing them.

  • just type spinning drum carrier at google and you find a patent site with the PDF file

  • i want to find out how they did that...for winter. haha

  • holy shit!...thats all i can say!

  • wow that must have took a lot of pratice

  • THATS AWESOME!!

  • NICE

  • Academy and some other lines have done it too

  • i saw that show live, amazing

  • Yea, I saw it too, the day before the eastern classic. That was when there show was a little bit more developed than this one in the video. That was one hell of a show.

  • Um watch the WGI 2008 DVD when it comes out. NCA was playing more notes when spinning them shits around. BD asked NCA permission to use this in the show. Go get learned kid.

  • yeah man those are actually Northcoast's spinny things, they borrowed them and haven't given them back yet.

  • May I draw your attention to the color guard in this clip... WOW.

  • their uniforms..

    holy shit...

    -.-

they were good this year tho.. xD

  • Been done.........

  • really now? were they playing as difficult of notes? doubtful

  • You have no idea buddy.
