idk if anyones said it. but for all you WGI fans. North Coast Academy did it the season before the blue devils. big woop. im not a BD hater. im just saying, im not impressed.
There are more guys in colorguards in Drum Corps most of the time because guy colorguards are a lot better and more dedicated (it was really the only place in high school they probably fit in).
Lame, I think Morehead St. College had the first spinning bass drums back in the late 90's, I would expect more from BD, maybe thats why their drums scores dropped so much. Hopefully they are better next year! Just my opinion.
Way way WAY off with the origins of bass drum spinners, pal!
1950's - 1960's. College marching bands and plenty of high schools too. It's an old high-stepper era favorite -- BD just dug it up for a cute, totally retro effect.
My god, I can't believe nobody knows that virtually every college marching band in America had bass drum spinners for YEARS in the 1950's and 1960's!!!!!
(Wow -- do we have a serious cultural memory loss problem in this country, or what!?)
My high school in Indiana even had a couple of old spinners around in the early '80s, left over from earlier drum sections. For all I know, they may still be there.
dude i went to a system blue clinic last weekend and i got to use one of those basses. they were so awesome. oh and i don't care if u don't believe me
the bass spin wasn't much better live, in fact, it was even harder to pick out when you don't have a camera to zoom in. (I went to World Championships to watch)
Im not sure but I think Riverside Community College used the spinning basses. But thier mostly BD people anyway so there wouldnt be a problem of using the same concepts i dont think.

Basses spinning has been done many times..
How about you guys try and find vincennes lincoln drumline. We had spinning snares in IPA this year. We got 2nd at Indiana Percussion Association's state championships.
Yea, I saw it too, the day before the eastern classic. That was when there show was a little bit more developed than this one in the video. That was one hell of a show.
Um watch the WGI 2008 DVD when it comes out. NCA was playing more notes when spinning them shits around. BD asked NCA permission to use this in the show. Go get learned kid.
Wow. No Props on the field....I remember these days.....

haha i wanna see some highschool do that, first off those harnesesses are like a billion dollars
(sarcasm), second off you have to apply just enough force to have it finish right with the ability to adjust because of wind speeds.
