@mrstampede10 Run with a 14 pinion. U have to get ESC, BEC and Y harness. Y harness from great planes, I could never get BEC to work so I used a Nitro hump pack to power Servo and RX. I have had this for at least 2 years now and still runs great. I used mamba max and got the cheaper mamba for my Pede.
The VXL can only use 11volts. If you have a 3 cell lipo that is fine. But if you want to use 2 stick packs, you have to use the Mamba because it can take the higher volts. Thats why it used it.
Much faster, I have a stampede that my friend radared at 34, and this seems about the same. It looks slower in the video. I didn't bypass the BEC (recommended by castle creations) and fried my servos. I now have the stock setup back in (550s). Less runtime and actually pretty boring. I'd give a thumbs up to the conversion. Just remember the BEC bypass.
with two vxl moters and lipo batteries you could do about 55mph and you could do wheelies at 40mph. but if one battery runs out quicker then the other then you will fry an esc
How fast can u go with a single velineon? I got a stock E-Maxx and I'm looking for a new motor setup. I was looking at a double setup but its kinda pricy.
you know im curious about the temps wit hit on 12 cell. im thinking of using one and a 4s setup in my revo. on 3s mine ran hot, but not too hot if geared right. standing backflips and 37mph easy. good run times on 5k packs. and i dont have a temp gun, but i could hold my finger on the can for 10 seconds without any problem(inacurate way of seeing if its too hot)

I put it back in my Stampede and am going to buy a new Mamba to put in. I only have one lipo and am kind of leery of linking 2 together. I am using a jumper type plug and I'd rather have a cheap nimh go bad than an $80 lipo. Although...I am thinking about it. Speed is good.
and another thing you could do is keep it mounted on center line of the chassis and run twin 2s packs. that will be easier and require no drilling. use stock mounts and hold downs. just run them together to make it act as a 4s. PM me if you got a question about it
I ended up building a brushless maxx for a guy. i work at the LHS so i do a lot of stuff on trucks. what i ended up doing is drilling out 2 holes at both ends of the tray and using tekno straps that come with the e-revo conversions. one long one did the trick and looks clean too.

hello, what gearing do you need? did u wire the batteries to get 14.4v or just 7.2 with longer run times?

Dropped down 3-4 pinion teeth. Ran pretty good, but not as fast as a larger "long can" motor that most people run with these. Still fun though.
