LOL< he said the same thing today at Talladega with the #48 "Have you Ever?..." Great stuff!!!!!
Also, this is why Nascar needs to change these identical cookie cutter stock cars with stickers to show which one is a Impala and which one is a Charger..What wins on SUNDAY sells on MONDAY..and the Pontiacs long swooping nose won this race!!!
@twitch043 That's always why DW pulls for somebody, simply for the excitement. He pulled for Craven, he'll pull for Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Jr. It just depends on the situation.
@LeoBruno1000 Come on, don't you remember when South Park did a parody of NASCAR? The name of the episode was Poor and Stupid, and that was one of Cartman's lines, so don't take it too offensively.
I was there, 5 rows from the track, and a few hundred feet from the finish line. Also straight across from Craven's pit box. Almost 8 years ago and still gives me chills when I watch this video. Great race.
I've never gotten how they were able to tell instanly who won this race without havin' to look at the scorin' monitors when it was about a inch that decided it, but the 2000 Craker Barrel 500 they had to look at the monitors to see that Earnhardt won by a foot, still, greatest finish ever!
i still get goosebumps and cold chills everytime i see this finish! rockypc48 did an amazing re-enactment of this finish too. i miss this kind of no-holds barred racing this was REAL racing!
This was the first NASCAR race I attended. It was also Darlingtons 100th NASCAR race and before the race Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird wing cars did a lap around the track.
this video never gets old. one of the greatest if not the greatest finish in nascar and you can listen to this video and it will still get you excited
Watching this video I can't help but to smile. Then I get a little bit sad, because this was the end of the era where a little guy like Craven (or Blaney) for that matter, had a realistic shot at pulling off a win (not including Keselowski at Talladega). Still wish they would have had one more lap, because with another lap Blaney would've probably had both of them. He was bad fast this day.
It's "bam." Sorry. DW says it right at the moment of contact.
I watched this race live, watched it literally dozens of times on my TiVo, and I never once thought Waltrip said "damn." Rewatched it three times here, and still don't.
I don't think it matters; I think it actually makes it more memorable when they go from calm and collected early on to wild and crazy on the last laps. It makes it much more heart-pounding, as well.
Of course, I don't want to be watching Chicagoland next week and hear the commentators outright rooting for one driver the whole time, too.
I did, but my comment was about the sport in general. Yesterday's Darlington race was also a good one, but I'm just referring to the average race. I know they still have good ones, but they're coming further and further apart.
haha i was at that race... me and my dad sat 8 rows from the finish line... all of people around us were standing up and then leaning forward to see who actually got the win... then we all went NUTS... it was one of my greatest experience in my whole life... i'll never forget that race!!
lol D.W. cracks me up. "nah there driven good", "here e comes, here e comes","CRAVEN got him". hilarious. i remember i was jumping up and down on the couch and fell off when they crossed the line. my friends thought i was nuts, most of them never seen a race b4.
Now that's racing, you don't see that anymore in nascar. Most of the races are boring now, except for Daytona, Bristol, Richmond, and sometimes Martinsville.
pretty close. not as close as Logan Gomez in the 2007 IRL who beat Alex Lloyd by 0.0005 seconds (0.5 milliseconds) but that was in the IRL, this is nascar
Ah man, I drove 10 hours to see this race from eastern PA, that was 2003. Now, I change the channel when I see Nascar highlights on ESPN. I just hate what it became. Oh well, with the IRL, at least one "premier" league is heading in the right direction, instead of the going backwards. Doesn't matter though, dirt has always been where the real racing is
i was watching the NASCAR in-car on demand shit and the had a track map on the corner of the screen i saw the #97 bubble exit turn 4 and when it got to the line i saw it change to the #32 so i had no idea who won i turned the tv over to FOX just in time to see the replay after that i was so pissed because i didn't get to see it live only the replay
