Unfortunately, the Scotvolds didn't consider Tonya competition in 1994, and, whacking aside, Tonya on a bad day could still string together a bunch of triples and beat Nancy, who had a history of melting down.

hehe, yes the spiral, where she has to hold her freeleg up...it was quite a nice move until Nicole Bobek came around and got her leg up higher without having to grab it :)

thanks a lot, I had never seen this triple axel! It's great thanks to you guys we get to see more and more Harding's triple axels. I have a silly question though, why didn't she land a double toe after it, wasn't she supposed to warm up practising this combination?

Harding did the same thing in '94, practicing only the more difficult jump in her combination. I guess she had no doubts about landing the double toe and maybe wanted to conserve energy.

I really think that had she landed the combo in the short and skated cleanly, she would have easily been in first or second place.

Had she skated the same long program, she would have most likely ended up 3rd. I sort of think she should have finished 3rd anyway.

hehe well i do agree with you. I'm sure in a mens SP event the only guy doing a 3axel would go into the lead so i don't see why the womens' should be different. In any case, I still think her FP was better than Kerrigan's and should have been higher.

I always see Tonya landing the 3axel in warm up or practice but she never landed it again after 1991 in competition! She was one of my favorite skaters and I always think "what if" too. I agree she should have placed ahead of Kerrigan. Thanks for posting this and do you happen to have the whole warm up?
