  • The hispanic community tried to strong arm Ott and the Statesman busted them. What else is Garcia gonna say? OF COURSE Gus doesn't want this front page, above the cover - because it's a power grab and nothing more. It's not a "hot issue over nothing" it's pitiful, provincial municipal politics in action and it's a SHAME.

And MAKE NO MISTAKE - Martinez' name may not have been on the letter but he's right there with 'em.

  • As an African-American, fmr. Mayor Garcia has told us news yesterday. Mayor Garcia is one of the most truthful men I've ever seen in office. I, for one, believe these strong public servants wouldn't have cried foul at Ott without good reason. Thanks, David for the eye-opening interview

  • Bravo Mr. Kobierowski & MythicalMinds! Why now does Mr. Barrientos say it's not a race issue although he signed a complaint referencing affirmative action? The letter appears to align w/ AAS' perspective re. Acuna/Adame's firing; yet Gus Garcia later contradicts this in an interview w/ Kobierowski. Are signers of the complaint back-peddling? Who's behind publishing a relative non-issue on the front-page? IF it was to be a "very private matter" (Garcia), then who leaked this to the press & WHY?

  • Thank You everyone for viewing this video and commenting.

A quick note: It goes without saying that there are also many fantastic reporters and editors at the Statesman. We want our paper to earn the respect and credibility by all for their great work. We thank them when they do great work, and we offer constructive criticism when they miss the mark. All in the spirit of progress and improvement.

    Best,

    David Kobierowski

  • Thank you David Koblerowski for providing a direct source response to the "much ado over nothing" by the Statesman's article attempting to "scapegoat" Austin's new City Manager Mark Ott. Thank you for any attempt toward "fracturing" the surface of long-standing and broad-base "protected fiefdoms." Please continue. Austin and Travis County need an earthquake to uncover the protected fiefdoms governing central Texas.

  • With so "much ado" about nothing, what's the true story?City Manager Marc Ott is managing the city--the job he is hired to do--let him do it!. Why are power brokers and the AAS reporter creating a "hot" issue over "nothing"? Do citizens' complaints receive such attention from City Council and AAS? Will AAS's reporter take the challange to be an investigative journalist? I ask, "What is truly below the surface regarding the long-standing power brokers? How broad is the cover-up?"
