Can someone tell me how these republicans are able to ignore subpoenas? I don't get it! How are they able to ignore the law. Does that mean if I ever receive a subpeona, I can ignore it and use them as precident?

First of all, to use them as precedent, their actions would have to be legally sanctioned, which they are not. What they have going for them is public office, presidential pardon, and money for lawyers. With enough legal power, proceedings can be delayed indefinitely.

Before you begin criticizing the leaders of today, demonizing some and lionizing others, learn something about the history of civilization. Learn something about the history of leaders. What is important (to those of us who support McCain-Palin) is that she follow her advisers, who know that her enemies seek to exploit Troopergate, not because they care for the law, but because they hope the investigation becomes the monkeywrench that stalls the machinery of the McCain campaign. Palin must be shrewd. If she rolls over easily for this, how can she be strong enough to face down Putin, Chavez, Ahmadinejad, et al?

Saddam Hussein defied 17 UN resolutions. He had WDM. He had already used one kind against his own people. WMD is not only nuclear. It is also biological, chemical, radiological. 10 years of UN weapons inspectors had all but rooted out and destroyed Iraq's major WMD capacity. The average American household has enough "WMD" as defined by you to justify and invasion. You can not "hide" nuclear. It sends out a radioactive beacon that signals it's presence and trail for a thousand years. We have yet to pick up on any such trail. Bush avoids and seeks an end to the UN because they would prosecute his entire administration for the same violation of human rights as Saddam.

If Bush had done nothing, if he had not attacked Iraq and Afghanistan, if he had instead handed out fruit baskets and recited poetry (like Barack Obama proposed,) and Saddam had given WMD to persons who then used it on the West, you would be the first to condemn Bush for doing nothing against Saddam. We have not been attacked in seven years. It is easy to criticize when you enjoy the benefits but have none of the responsibilities.

Never in history has there been a nation, a culture, a civilization, able to sustain itself without going to war from time to time. Perhaps you will show us how to do it. They collapsed when they degenerated from republics to democracies, and allowed themselves to come under the rule of persons representing not the values of the nation, but those of populations from other cultures.

To take the Roman Empire in point. They pissed off every people around them and overstretched their resources. Decadence from their massive wealth which had "trickled" to the top caused failure from within with rulers like Caligula and from without by the enemies they'd made getting even for their losses. Behind all proposed "causes" of Rome's fall is that the people who built Rome gave way to other races, other cultures, other religions. Their lack of energy, enterprise, foresight, common sense, moral and political stamina diluted the stock which during the earlier days displayed these qualities. In this way, Rome lost its edge and fell.
