I actually have read the Koran but I do not think that doing so makes me an expert in Islam. But you do not need to be an expert in Islam to see that the religion is cited as the reason for killing people every day. Sure, the Koran contains beauty, intellect and justice but it also contains nonsense and hate. The question is: How is it being used today? Look, Christianity was a barbaric religion but it evolved. You can call people killers all you want, my issue is with people who would blame Islam rather than individuals who just hide behind their religion. I have yet to come across a religion that is fundamentally evil, Islam certainly isnt.

Oh - make no mistake about this - humanity is indeed responsible for the suffering of other human beings. The right wingers will get out the pie charts, and start signing the blues about "deserve" and boot straps and other such non-sense, but WE ARE RESPONSIBLE. All of us. It's why I balk at all religion. Americans spend about $9 Billion dollars a year on Viagra, yet there are children starving to death. That is simply unacceptable and any religion that ignores that misery sucks.

I don't know of a single mainstream religion that promotes killing innocent people, Islam included. I used to think religion was a plague and that we'd be better off without it, but four years and a theology degree later I finally see it for what it is: one of the only concrete steps humanity has ever taken to try and counteract the evil we're all capable of as people and as a society. It has everything to do with "the victim". the message almost always is "you could be in the victim's place"

also can I just say that Islam is about 600 years younger than Christianity. Put in Perspective if the roles were reversed as far as "evolution" goes, Christians were still undergoing crusades and mass murders in the fourteenth century, the equivalent of where Islam is today (and this was before the inquisition and salem witch trials, etc...) so comparatively, Islam is actually ahed of Christianity. Just thought you should know before you talk about eradicating an entire tradition.

If 25+ conflicts around the globe, all involving Muslims, and all major acts of terrorism created, promote and allowed by Muslims, and a holy book that, on one page says "kill one and it is as if you killed all" but then on another page somehow justifies the stoning and burning of embassies because of satire against a prophet... if all that somehow suggests Islam is "comparitively" ahead of Christianity then I'm still casting my vote for the Christians and you can have your ZERO back.

I am referring, in part, to STATE-SPONSORED terrorism, or instances where states turn a blind eye. How many Muslim countries loudly stated to Palestinians, "...if you continue to lob rockets into Israel, especially after they gave back Gaza", you are signing your own death certificate? Or, how many of them said, "stop or well cut off aid?" NONE.

Are you kidding me? Who cares if Islam is evolving faster than Christianity? The point it, as we stand today, it is a religion that violates the norms of society. Have you seen this video? We are not going to wait for Islam to join the rest of the world. In case you missed it, the 20th Century saw rapid societal evolution. Unfortunately, the Koran (and its use/misuse by Muslims) has kept the Islamic world in the Dark Ages.
