I'm looking forward to watching this. This is an incredible gift you've given to other moms-- Kudos. :) I totally agree that our culture puts SO much fear in the minds of mothers... Pregnancy is NOT an illness!
Kudos to you! Is there a way for us to get an "alert" when you begin streaming?
Best of luck and I think it is wonderful that you are doing this. I had 2 hospital births, and my third was born at home in the jacuzzi in my back yard. It was my absolute favorite of the three experiences. :)
I am so happy, proud and honored to know of you, your commitment to helping us reclaim our bodies and birthing. I have never had a baby, nor have I seen one being born. I know that sharing in this experience with you will help recalibrate my assuptions, my fears, my ideas (yes, much of them given me only by television!). Luckily I have many friends who have given natural birth, so I have an idea of the differences, but I know many don't have that even. Thank you for putting yourself out there.
I'm a birth doula here in Ottawa and am not surprised by the amount of negative attention this has gotten - I remember when live web streaming of a woman's birth was done before and received similar criticism ("she is thinking of herself and not the baby," "taking away her focus from the baby," "fifteen minutes of fame") but I don't think that people who haven't learned of the crisis the state of human birth in North America is in can appreciate what you are doing.
Good for you don't worry about these commenters that are negative they are just proving the points! I hope I'm online when you go into labor. My first birth was amazing but I am unable to have homebirths as they are illegal in the state of GA but I found an amazing hospital and I'm currently volunteering to help bring a Birth Center to Atlanta. I wish you all the best for your birth. My 2nd is in April-May! I can't wait to share it so people know that it MUCH easier then they think
@mcrofoo1 I used to live in Georgia, when I was in chiropractic college. I had many friends have home births there. Have rules changed or is it just something you need to do "underground"? When I was down there most of my friends used a midwife named Claudia. I think her office was at her home in Kennesaw and I know she has done births as far as Peachtree City. You can email me if you want me to try to get more info for you. info@yourbirthcoach(dot)com
I have always been afraid of having a baby because of all of the birth videos I've seen in the past-all at hospitals. After watching The Business of Being Born, I am no longer afraid, so long as I can do it my-way-naturally. Thank you for your videos and information!

Not since the antics of Nadya Denise Doud-Suleman have I seen such a Narcissistic act of bullshit. It isn't like this has been done before. This seems more selfish than generous. Perhaps you could direct your energies to helping on the issue of better childbirth in other ways. This doesn't do anything except put the spotlight on you.
@jimsottile I really don't see how this is about me. The goal is for women to see that birth is normal, not a crisis, and that they can do it too. I have been helping women realize their ability to give birth naturally for years. How is that about me. They are the ones who are accomplishing something. I am just helping them realize they can. Having the "spotlight" on me is the worst part of this experience because it can interfere with me achieving my best birth, that doesn't serve me.
@YourBirthCoach That's what makes you a narcissist - you don't see it. To quote Anais Nin "We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are."
The issue you champion makes sense but you are not serving the cause or extending the message by doing a video of the birth. You're just preaching to the converted and nothing more. This is a problem many of my forward thinking comrades seem to have. By portraying yourself as a media-matyr for the cause confirms how really Narcissistic you are
@LoseWeightToday You know I nearly forgot about this fool until MadmoiselleJennyCraig reminded me xx. I still stand by my commentary and enjoyed adding my voice to the opinionscape. Now if you please MadameWeightWatchers I have important insular online creative projects to attend to. Kind Regards.

What about if it doesn't go well for you? Of course I wish you the best birth possible. But I can you be sure? In case things are getting more complicated, aren't you afraid that it will create the opposite? Good luck to you.
@fab0073 That is the biggest problem we have with our culture surrounding birth. Everyone is so in fear, we need to trust the process. Asking a pregnant mom what if something goes wrong is the worst thing you can say. She needs support and encouragement not other people putting their fears on them. If complications arise we have midwives to deal with them. If we need medical care we simply leave for the hospital. It is so extremely rare that a true emergency will happen in labour.
Good for you for doing so much to educate people about the natural process of birth is like and how important it is to improve the birth experience for women and for humanity as a whole. I had my 5 year old and 2 year old at the homebirth of my 3rd child too. My husband caught the baby and my 5 year old cut the cord. You can watch the video (Ishta's birth)
I can't access the page... I would like to watch because I am almost at the end of my 3rd trimester (6 weeks left) and I am seriously considering an ALL NATURAL delivery. Please sign me up :) JChymere@live.com
When I tried to sign up to your live birth to be alerted when your labor starts it said "An error occured during your email list submission. Please try again later." When is your due date I want to be sure I'm signed up before then!

@jimsottile Don't you have anything better to do? Don't watch or comment if she is so narcissistic. You are only feeding the narcissism.

FYI: It's difficult to watch you talk when you're not looking at the camera. It's obvious that you're looking at yourself on the screen, just saying.
But great work, I found your video on my Facebook feed. Whatever you're doing is working.
