Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of seeing JLH in person, but I did see his son - who is pretty damned good in his own right. One by one the greats are leaving us. The Stones really got the awsome boogie and endless groove which so characterised John' playing. A perfect backing band for him and with Charlie on the drums is pure magic. And anyway, it's not the technique that gives the notes meaning, it's the person expressing his instrument, it's the spirit of the person, it's the feeling of the person, not necessarily the box of wood with strings on itself. The player's heart and soul is the instrument and is what gives notes their individual unique meaning.
