  • A Boomer from Detroit, and we had Motown. But, I like this very much.

  • great song

  • I'd like to eat her liver with some fava beans and a nice bottle of Chianti! *Ff Ff Ff Ff Ff Ff*

  • If you're a baby boomer from Chicago N/s during the 60's enjoying 5th,6th,7th,8th grades! I lived in Buck town, back then. Now Wicker Pk.We know! For the good times.Cheer's!"Hey Sharon we were 13,your kiss tasted like fresh vegtables!

  • This is One of The Best Songs of The 60,s This Band Lived 2 Miles From me' and I,ve Met them Lots of Times Before they Moved on to Ohio and Other Places' i Miss them very much they Were Beautiful people all of Them...

  • Thanks for the memories : )

  • are they British decent? they all have terrible teeth...

  • Reminds me of church camp and sharon king in 1966!

  • swimmy? swammy? swanson? SAMSONITE!

  • San Diego, US Navy..... 1968...... Balboa Park......... What happen to that sweet Flower girl?

This is her....in all the songs ways! alone and longing for my sweetheart at WESTERN Michigan University...........Susan Brammell.............

  • Can,t Believe this Band Lived 3 Miles away from me in the late 60,s and i Only met them ONCE!!..Who Could Have Known.....

  • Where are the rest of them? The mother and little sister were part of the group in addition to these guys.

This is a great example of pop / mainstream interpretations of hippies and the drug culture which was occurring at that time. Real-life drug usage was decried constantly, but songs like this, with cheerful references to happy drug-induced visions, were OK.

  • Loved this song but the video is funny in that the only instruments you see are guitars yet you never really hear a guitar in the song. You hear drums, keyboards, tambourine, etc.

  • @postrecommender Yeah, and a harp. Where's Susan?

Sadly, Barry was killed in Katrina 2005.

  • Adoro este vídeo, faz parte da minha adolecencia, AMOOOOOOO VOCÊS

  • very nice family. they used to live walking distance from where i lived.

  • Definitely a parking space for a Chicklet piece of Gum...... but overall....they sound pretty good........I wonder if their dentist is still above ground....all joking aside.......,these dudes were half decent...I was a young teen when this tune came out....brings back memories......and toothaches LOL

  • I loved this when I was little. :)

  • watch?v=dfFA_EfHNZg

  • First let me say that I love this song, then I wonder if they ever did any work with the gaps in their teeth?

  • @FanOfFab4 Nope, I saw Bob Cowsill perform Friday night in Woodland Hills and the gap was there! Along with an amazing talent. The man is a human jukebox. Two straight hours without a break, then 15-20 minutes for a break, then two more hours straight.

  • My all-time favorite Cowsills tune. Sadly, several members of the family have passed away. One, I believe, was lost in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. RIP and thanks for all the beautiful music!

  • My, you can certainly see the family resemblence, can't you?

  • I loved this family!! Still do, thanks.

  • I believe the Partridge Family was based on these guys from Rhode Island.

  • @mjpsails Yes you're right.

  • such an innocent and simple time

  • Comment removed

  • The tooth gap was a 60s thing. Check it out! O.o

  • @neovintageretro - Ray Davies, too! :)

  • @neovintageretro Maybe they got braces after this song made it big.

  • 'Scuse me, Flo? What's the Soup Du Jour? -- It's the Soup of the Day -- Mm, that sounds good. I'll have that.

  • AHHHHHHH.THE SOUNDS OF HEAVEN.

  • Billy puts a lot into this song. I remember its air play back in 68 in newcastle, australia. One of many songs that were full of positive vibes

  • goddman these guys couldn't afford some basic dental care?

  • gran cancion Felicidades por esta musica ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Came across this video and HAD to hear this fantastic song from when I was a little girl. Brought back some fond memories, especially of how I wished I was the "flower girl"!

  • Hit record in the day, remember it well as a teen ager.

  • I'm not 100 per cent sure but I think it was the lead singer (Barry) who died in the Katrina flood. The night before, he was planning to leave New Orleans for drug rehab. Terrible way to go. I'd love to think that they got rich after this video and they were all fitted for braces, but unfortunately things didn't work out that way.

  • @professordumbledorf Bill & Bob Cowsill did most of the lead singing....

  • Nice song. But I found myself becoming concerned about the little boy on the stool about to get clocked by the guitar his brother is swinging around behind him.

  • @professordumbledorf LoL why is there teeth so alike

  • This group was the prototype for what became the TV hit, "The Partridge Family". They wanted to use the Cowsills as they inspired the original idea, but the TV producers found the Cowsills too "ordinary with no personality".

  • I was 10 when this song was on the charts. What a wonderful memory.

  • I tend to listen to african-american music mostly (my favorites being bebop, soul and hip-hop), but this might be objectively one of the best songs of all times.

  • They were my first concert, 1967, Tulsa......they were great!

  • DUMB AND DUMBER

  • @DzekoVelez Your post has me laughing. When my son and I make our annual road trip to Phoenix from Kansas City for golf, we always act like Harold & Lloyd from the movie. Good humor.

  • A great song for the Summer of Love...brings me way back!!!!

  • They should have called the group "The Nostrils" haha! Just kidding. a great song, just filmed at an unflattering angle. Man! huge looking nostrils hahaha. everybody lip-synched back then. these guys were actually pretty darn good musicians. At least they had great producers. I keep thinking of Jim Carey in "Dumb and Dumber". Just remembered something... these guys sang the theme song for Love American Style back in the early seventies. great vocals!

  • So he says "Do ya love me?" and she says "No. But thats a real nice skimask."

  • The fact that they were all in their teens still? Awesome. :)

  • Loved the Cowsills then and now!! Remember listening to them when I lived in Panama City, Panama. You never grow tired of listening this song.

  • The Kooks cold say 'thank you'!

  • @daverow49 you are an overreacting dumbass. How is that for a dismissive remark?

  • Lip Synching Poser's,They should be ashamed of themselves:)

  • Well...I think the song is pretty cool! Thanks for the memories...and I like Indian Lake and Hair as well. Two great Cowsills' songs! These guy paved the way for families such as the Osmonds and the Jackson Five. I barely remember another...the DeFranco Family I believe.

  • Man, these guys need orthodontists.

  • Love the song :) hope they used the money to see a Dentist:)lol

  • sort of a time machine to those who were there, even in disdain

  • My wife still laughs at me when she notes that I've loved this song. Yes the Cowsills were bubblegum, but when this song was popular I was just coming of age and I liked it. The harmonies were awesome and bubblegum or not, I think it was a good piece of music. All music has it's influences. These kids were alright. By the way, not sure about this but I think the TV series "The Partridge Family" was inspired by the Cowsills. Just my opinion.

  • @tubatag...you're right, nothing to be ashamed of..it IS great music...I was 14 when this came out..if it IS bubblegum, it's a MASTERPIECE of THAT genre...The Cowsills were incredibly talented (not only vocally, but they could PLAY those instruments skillfully) unlike the ridiculous Partridge Family (who were based on them)

  • @GUIDOBRAT It's not bubblegum. It would be more correctly described as "sunshine pop" similar to groups like the Peppermint Rainbow, the Sunshine Company, Spanky and Our Gang, and Harper's Bizarre.

  • she had made me happy

  • Pretty much one album wonders, but I'll certainly take them over the Osmonds.

  • So sweet. I remember this song so so well. @55pennylane , I was probably about 10. Brings back good memories.

  • was my favorite group when i was 12 or 13 am 56 now love it

  • MARYYYYYY

  • I like very much.

  • who wrote and produced this little classic-there has to be a story to this!

  • Comment removed

  • I used to love the flower girl, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • soo he said do you love me and he said noo but thats real nice ski mask !!!

  • Great Upload.... A very cool song

  • This brings back the sweet face and beautiful long brown hair of Poet Nunnaly! How she made me smile!

  • The Cowsills were and are, by far, the best harmonizing band of all time. Even better than the Four Seasons or the Beach Boys. I mean, I get goose bumps listening to these songs. Like eating too much ice cream too fast. Wow!

  • @hartley81848184 Interesting to read your thoughts. While I agree with you that the Cowsills had some great harmonizing in some of their songs, I do feel that the Beach Boys and Four Seasons harmonized better as groups in their many, many hits. However, the way I see it, if a song appeals to a person in ANY way, that is all that matters as a song is pure joy if it brings back great memories!

  • ¿Còmo no amar a la chica de las flores?... una de las canciones mas bellas que he escuchado ultimamente, gracias kelidul

  • They had teeth like a bike rack...

  • some trivia about this song: one of the writers was Artie Kornfeld, the very same one who was one of the partners/backers who put on Woodstock.

  • DIDNT THEY HAVE DENTIST BACK THEN?

  • @MrVampiredog They're English...

  • @TheNobleBard They're from Newport, Long Island. One of the earliest "family bands" they were the inspiration for the TV show "The Partridge Family".

  • We LUV The Cowsillis in OMAHA,NE!!!!!!

  • this is a great song

  • Lindo, lindo, lindo o coração quase não aguenta!!!!!!!!!

  • Great mix of adult and kid voices! Really interesting arrangement stuff going on here.

  • im getting an acid contact high just listening to this song lol

  • Hey, where's Susan??

  • This is one of the greatest folk rock songs of all time. They don't know how to harmonize like this anymore. Even with today's digital technology that can make a mediocre voice sound legendary...Dan O'Niallain

  • remember these are the guys they based The Partridge Family on!

  • hink this song is about an lsd trip with flowere girls and acid rain and parks where hippies are....

  • I loved this song back in 67 and still sounds great. I think this was the last record of the flower power era (in UK anyhow). I've never heard of them since but will look up the website. Cheers folks.

  • 15 people got turned down by a flower girl

  • i think Barry. They have a website. this site doesnt let me type it out exactly.. but ill try: w w w cowsill dot com

  • Just great music from a different and, some would say, better time. Many who knew it would say a better time.

  • @lmt61251 I was there...It was much better than this nightmare we live in now.

  • @lmt61251 Those WERE better times. The harp glissando really makes this song! That, too, was a sign of the times in instrumentation. There was no time before or ever again in those 60s where there was so many interesting arrangements in pop music.

  • Bob, Susan & Paul make up The Cowsills today. Their brother John has been a member of The Beach Boys touring band since 2000. He began on keyboards but became their drummer in 2007. Bob & Paul perform together often. Susan also joins them fairly often as well as performing on her own. John joins in when he's not on the road with The Beach Boys.

  • @passadonut Who was the one who died in Katrina?

I remember having to search long and hard to find their greatest hits CD since nobody at the local store had ever heard of them.

  • This is THE daydream song

  • I knew I had to say...hello

  • great song

  • i went nuts looking for this song i thought it was the mamma and the poppas .lol

  • i knew, i knew , i knew...

  • I love the flower girl.. !

  • Gee, were they lipsynching? LOL

  • every time i hear this song all of my troubles just disappear.

  • The flower girl is one hot piece of ace. I know from experience

  • I used to beat off to this song

  • I pass this on to younger people and they always give it the thumbs up. There is hope, yet!

  • This song always brings the beautiful face of Poet Numnally back to me.

  • AMEN to That!! I agree with Giallohorror with that posted comment. The music was better aas it was composed let alone rehearsed several times before recoring or on air live performance. I grew up listening to this. Not the junk that is outnow!!!!

  • And she said NO, but that's a real nice ski mask!

  • I love this song.. never knew who sung it, till now thanks for posting!

  • shut the fuck up shut the fuk up just listen to the music

  • hell I think they're cute lol

  • I love gap teeth

  • I'm going to watch Dumb & Dumber now.

  • @TheNoisePolluter It is very easy for young people to dismiss what they haven't experienced as if it is something bad. I have enjoyed listening to that song for the last 45 years. I find your remark very offensive and you obviously came across this clip by accident or you are a 14 yo troll. Respect for other artists is a something that you will never understand. Go back to your Gameboy for it sings the music you want to hear.

  • @daverow49 No... I looked this song up. I listen to a lot of oldies now, like The Grass Roots, The Animals, Herman's Hermits, Mommas and The Pappas..etc.

  • @TheNoisePolluter Well then why the back-handed dismissive remark "I'm going to watch Dumb & Dumber now"? Entertainment for your friends perhaps? Disrespect for artists who worked very hard to gain recognition in a very tough industry. This attitude needs to be stopped because it is very hurtful to their families. You sir, need to take responsibility for your bad behaviour and make a public apology. The "oldies" you are referring to are still my favorites. Just show some respect. It is not hard

  • @daverow49 This song was used in Dumb & Dumber...

  • @TheNoisePolluter I apologize. You must understand that I come across many dismissive remarks of my favorite music. Peace and harmony and goodwill to all.

  • :D

  • I absolutely LOVE this song, love The Cowsills! I was born quite some time after such talent was evident, but thanks to my dad's huge record (yes, vinyl record: not CD) collection, I grew up and gained an appreciation for brilliant musical talent. I don't have a lot to say about the music of Justin Bieber et al, other than "to each their own". But it's most certainly not for me.

  • One of the singers looks like he's about 12 years old!

  • @mikesb69 lol you a noob ?

  • This is how I met my best friend, he used to call me "the flower girl." Great song!

  • Did they ever make enough money to get dental work? 8-)

  • I am amongst the victims - of "THE FLOWER GIRL"...

  • America's FIRST family of rock & roll from right next door to where I lived in Newport, Rhode Island!!!

  • Really dippy song...but sounds great!

  • this song made a huge impact on me in the sixties, probably my favorite of all songs from the whole decade. I loved it! I was uprooted in 1967 at 11 years old and my life was turned upside down. This wonderful song literally pulled me through 6 very dark months of my life. I never got to say thank you, so if any of you ever read this, THANK YOU!

  • This was actually a great song. Well produced. It had that 'something' that was infectious & appealing. Maybe it's got something to do with the "bom-bom-bom-bom " slappy kinda beat which is reminiscent of Brian Wilson's "California Girls' + 'The Little Girl I Once Knew". Except Brian had already moved well beyond that, when this song was recorded a few years later.

  • i like this song' a dont know why , but i like' haven something

  • Looks like these kids all had the same dentist...

  • @HangTenHangmen Or lack of one.!!

  • @GialloHorror---here, here! I second your perspective. May Lady GaGa gagged on her boyfriend's member!!! What an obnoxious bitch and an perfect indictment of our society's shallowness!!

  • I personally find their teeth quite sexy. Not to mention, their underrated musical talent and superb voices.

  • The sound of the 60's. jz beautiful

  • OMG....Such great memories. I used to play this song over and over on my parents stereo.

  • Poor Barry. I bet the hippies used somebody he loved/loved him to trick him into doing something stupid. Very Sad. The hippies are using dope on people..... pills that block the memeopry, used by Drs for tramatic event such as car accidents in which a loved on is killed and the patient can't handle it...blocks the memory. Hippies and Satanists are using this as a weapon.... Barry was a good guy....

  • adoro essa musica saudades muita saudades.

  • Jesus - Ive not heard this song in 40 years!

  • ya can just play it over, and over feel good track,,,

  • omg i love this song so much

  • 15 have STR8 pearly whites.

  • This song saddens me 'cause I was in love for the first time in grade 5 and this girl didn't even know I existed...and 40 years later, I still yearn...leojleoj

  • This made me think of all the chase songs in Scooby Doo.

  • Bob, Bill, Barry , John, Mom and Susie were just great :-) even though mom and susie are not in this video.

  • I never get tired of this song.

  • how does this song have dislikes?

  • love this, partrage family stole it,the idea, the concept, david cassidy was the face, bonaduche was the draw ,the main reason anyone watch"ed that show

  • I miss white people

  • They actually ruined their teeth on purpose in hopes their fans would think they were British.

    ;)

    Love the song.

  • love the song and the big space between his front teeth!! lol You could drive a VW threw it!!

  • anyone know if someone famous produced this song.......pretty damn good production

  • @inkey2 One of the producers and co songwriters, was Artie Kornfeld who amonsgt lots of stuff in the music buisness, was a co promoter of the woodstock festival in 1969 he can be seen in the film Woodstock.

  • dumb & dumber brought me here

  • tssss a guevo, los cowsills

  • Beautiful song from the 60s, the chorus is wonderful.

  • this was my wedding song it was 6 years sept 16

  • Thanks for posting this!

Hard to believe this group is the same one that sang "Hair"!

  • the beach boys got some of their sound from this band. if you listen closely, you can hear that SoCal Christian Surfer Sound in there somewhere.

  • Another Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart product. Concept and vocals.

  • i love the flower pig

  • Glorious!

  • The flower girl is forever in hearts that 'drift into' this timeless song.

  • jjjajaja DUMB AND DUMBER JAJAJAJ

  • Dumb and Dumber <33

  • I was happy and didn´t knew!

This is the song of my life!

  • R.I.P. brothers Bill and Barry. Gone too soon.

  • Good days ... Peace ,,, incense .... Love was in the ais. Where did those day's go... Bring them back for the world... Love Not War

  • Fame and fortune can never replace a loving mother and father!

  • It reminds me of a much simpler time. A time I always felt good.
