  • Is this UBC kendo club? How hard is your sensei? How many people are there in UBC kendo club? Which gym are you guys using? Please reply back to be from swc11@hotmail.ca

    thank you

  • That's just kiri kaeshi and oki men practice. not a competition of non bogu. it's clearly a beginner practice.

  • Most definitely looks like a grading test o.O.

  • Cool! I've seen something like this in Hamburg. But there the "technical tournament" is held without a motodachi, the deshi just hits the air.....but the rest is pretty much the same.

  • that's weird... Anyways I hope you'll keep on with so that you can experience real shiai ;)

  • I don't know a whole lot about tournaments since I've only been practising since last September. But to me it seems like the non-bogu division exists to give beginners an idea of what a tournament feels like and a chance to be included with everyone else. The match is between two competitors, who go through a series of different attacks (four in this case). Afterwards the winner is determined by who had better form, timing, kiai.

  • can you explain this a bit more? A non-bogu match? This looks like a grading test..
