Once someone finishes after 8 hours. They just realized that they wasted their time and they are still in the same place. I rather watch the view from my window for 8 hours.
If you play for 8 hours and make it to Las Vegas, you get exactly ONE point. Then you get the chance to drive back to Tucson for 8 more hours and get ONE more point.
"Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors" was made in '95 - only the SegaCD version was completed, but nothing was ever released because Absolute Entertainment got bought out and the project was not well-received by it new developer. You can find the ROM for Smoke & Mirrors out there 'in the tubes' somewhere.
The game went like this: the bus pulled to the right a bit so you needed to always correct the steering. Since it was all desert driving, you couldn't hurt anyone, even if you went off road. You weren't even allowed to break the speed limit. If you played for 8 hours you would roll into Vegas. The score would go from 0 to 1. A voice would invite you to pull a double shift and drive back. They were going to have a prize for the person who sent in a photo with the highest score.
According to Penn, Desert Bus was conceived in response to Janet Reno saying that video games were becoming too violent. Basically, we get either Mortal Kombat or... Desert Bus.
They should port this game to source engine

Your description is incorrect. "Desert Bus" is one of the only fully-functional parts of the game. Most of the game is unusable and NOT functional.
So the game is NOT fully completed.

Penn: Hey, you don't want 4 hours of hard drive in the right down the drain. Do you
Teller: No.

Aye, SOMEONE gets the JOKE that Penn & Teller were making toward all these 'super-realistic' simulation games that were coming out in the 90s :)
"Reality? You say your exciting, fun game is 'realistic'? THIS is reality - BOREDOM and MONOTONY is reality!!!" ^_^
(sorry to spell things out blatantly, but this IS a YouTube comment page...)

It was partially made in response to Janet Reno coming down on violent video games.
I love Penn and Teller and they should try taking a shot at another game, especially now with what games can do.

They should put this game on Xbox Live Arcade. This is what Achievements are all about. I want the "Drove from Tuscon to Las Vegas" Achievement!
