Gotta love how people are surprised the Focus handles so well. Let's not forget that the SVT Focus was the best handling FWD car of its time, until bested by the MazdaSpeed Protege in 2003.5, and that was beat by the Cobalt SS/TC in 2008... The SVT was basically a more track-oriented ZX3 ;)

@PzownedProductions ya, and the rs focus is now the best handling front wheel drive again and it has a top speed of 163! what stock somewhat affordable 4cylinder can do that? they did a review ontop gear, its insane for a front wheel drive daily driver. I have a 2006 with the 2.0 that I love.

The Ford Focus RS Mark II is actually a turbo five-cylinder, not a four cylinder, and it is far from affordable seeing as how they run in the mid-30K's and Civic Si's, Sentra SE-R Spec V's, Cobalt SS/TC's, et. al. run to mid 20K's. However, it is the current best-handling FWD. Eat it, Integra :)

I thought that too then realized that if he wouldvt shifted up a curve right after the shift wouldve made him down shift. He rode the redline for that few seconds to set up for the curve so he wouldnt have to do any shifting.

I used to live in Scotland UK before moving to US. And the fucus came out in the UK wAy before they had them here. But how ever it is made in the usa. And the fucus in uk are slower and look a wee bit defferent

The Focus isn'y made in the USA, its made in Mexico..

And they are definitely not slower in the UK. The HP of the North American Focus with a 2litre engine is only 130HP, a 1.6litre Focus from the UK would kick its ass and US regular gas is rated at 87 octane, UK regular is 89 octane. Small difference but every little helps.

that guy in the focus needs to know when to shift! @ 1:14 and 2:20, he had that thing screaming for the next gear! hes gonna blow that thing up!. but anyways, i wish there was a track like that near were we live.. all we got is the streets and all that gets ya (well got me) a 3 month suspention, and 5 points. :/ not to mention having to worry about all the other motorists and pedestrians.. i think there should be a public race track like this in every county :D

i will have to disagree as there isn't much you can do to a D engine for power besides forced induction, but they are pretty light. On that, i say corners over straights because of the aforementioned, and because of the civics double wishbone suspension. ...then again i understand little of how a focus is engineered...

Wow I just read some of the older comments and one thing nobody mentioned was the really short gearing of the Si. If they were both geared the same the focus wouldnt have had any problem getting past the civic on the straights.

I used to have a 97 LS/VTEC hatch with a SI transmission and it revved above 4k on the highway, I'm glad to be rid of it. Also i've driven an SVT Focus and it handled better than any of the 4 hondas I owned 3 of which has suspension mods.

true its a zx3, nto an svt, u can tell by the body guys. and not sure what he has but for my fous to hit 17o bhp b4 the bottle, i had to have i.h.e, pulleys, ported tb, msd w synthetic oil. it varies per car mine had low milage and was owned by 1 owner b4 me so i was lucky. but either way, nice car :) sounds good.
