  • I used to Watch the TV version of this But the Film was Awesome Some great Actors involved,

    Great Upload Susan xx

  • You know what the most weird thing is? All the images created by the Iinfinite Improbability drive on an alien starship are all Earth related instead of something like Babel fish or the Guide, now WHAT KIND OF PROBABILITY IS THAT??

  • The amazing part about all of this is this story and many other sci-fis took place in a single galaxy, in just the known universe alone there are something like a trillion or so regular galaxies. This movie had so many hidden meanings to realise. The ending between him and her was so sweet as they didn't mind traveling the universe.

  • Thank u so much for this cuz i now know the answer to almost every question...42

  • oh... wtf's the question!?!?!?!? -.-

  • @LucyZini 6x7

  • something your planet could do without 0:45 he should have said justin bieber

  • Most awesome movie in the history of the universe.

  • thanks for uploading! great movie!

  • just finished reading the book and I have to say I actually don't care about the differences... this is still a brilliant movie, because it's different

  • Hahaha, that was awesome.

  • this movie mindfucked everyone that watched it

  • Mad mad mad film!

  • wait wait wait.. so.. the entire existence of the universe was made for Douglas?

  • and the "so long and thanks for all the fish theme"!

  • so wait, is Trisha not human? why doesn't she get any credit for being the last female? i think i missed something.

  • @pixarpianofreak

Trisha was not on Earth for the past year? or so. Dent was and thus closer to being a final product of the computer, or something along those lines.

  • hahaha. it's the "Our story begins with a man" theme from the beginning!

  • Are they making the second part?

  • Ok- so like 2 hours of knowing the answer but STILL no question? This is like a bunch of retards on jeopardy.....

  • Marvin's my favourite character in this movie :)

  • I love this movie :D

  • now I see how this could be thought of as a creationist movie.

  • And to replace the existence of Arthur Dent, they created John Watson.

  • @done10for lmao!

  • @done10for Nothing ever happens to him.

  • I know where my towel is.

I like Douglas's screenplay, its classy as ever.

  • Look I know people will complain about movie to book suckishness. but my argument is that by now we should all realize that the movie will NEVER be as good as the book. it just goes without saying. there are just somethings that you can't capture from a book onto a movie screen. Hell I was confused at why they had Arthur hook up with Trillian. HE'S SUPPOSED TO HOOK UP WITH FENCHURCH. But that's ok cause it's a movie. We already know things will be changed. So just take it for what it is.

  • dont forget to bring a towle

  • but I still want Martin Freeman's existence

  • @JustinTbeats Well Id say thats a must... because every sentence in the book is funnier than every second in the movie. (That did not say the movie isnt funny)

  • TOWELS ARE THE ANSWER

  • @anna2cute100 No, the answer is 42 so towels must be part of the question.

  • I'm making a movie called Star Peace...where Leia, Han Solo and the Emperor all have a threesome :)

  • Listen to the audio book of the series read by douglas adams and martin freeman. They are both awesome. Been listening to them for years. Never gets boring. Have the written books as well.

  • Thanks for the upload. I just finished the book and now i've watched the movie. This was awesome.

  • who elese wants a sequal

  • This film was an insult to the books, and tv series. Half of the story has been taken out, and replaced with craptastic story

  • @MrDbenbow thats what happens to all books that are remade into a movie. I felt the same way after watching it. It was a still a great movie and an even greater book.

  • This is and will always be a classic....

  • so thats it....there isn't really a climax. how am i supposed to do my book report on this?!?!

  • @Trollin4Evar Try actually reading the book?

  • I've suddenly developed an obsession with towels...

  • The song is called "The Finale" on the Soundtrack, track 28.

  • First who was that face at the end aand... Im mad arthur still has that bath robe and pajamas on.

  • OH MAN I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL!!! Wait... What sequel?

  • what about the restaurant at the end of the universe, the life, the universe and everything, so long, and thanks for all the fish and mostly harmless

    xDDDDDD

  • The characters were beautifully developed. :)

  • So Long and thanks for all the fish.

  • i still don't understand the whole thing about towels... maybe i should read the books xD

  • @JustinTbeast .. a man who can hitchhike across the galaxy and still know where his towel is, is a man to be reckoned with

  • Most amazing thing ever simply put, any further depth into this would most definitely kill me seeing as it would take a lifetime, of which i do not have. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • For DOUGLAS <3

  • SEQUEEEELL PLEASE!

  • thank you for the dedication

  • i bloody love this film iv watched it twice through in a day !

  • This ending and every actor in this scene in perfect. The film is more than fine. Certainly no book - in which each paragraph is art [do read Adams!]- comes to film entire.; but the feeling, values, celebration of Adams is all here. ... Trillian is Anglo 'peckish' sweet, Zaphod Yankee rock n' roll shallow fun, Slatibartfast gets the biggest line of the film, "... as is, yeah, leave it." (study Nighy throughout), Dent the put upon, uncredited, goofy, slight dweeb-all-of-us needs a vacation.

  • Trippy ending

  • who had a towel with him, the entire duration of the movie?

  • R.I.P Douglas.

  • Who was first ,HHGTTG or HARRY POTTER??? I,ve never seen a HARRY POTTER movie or read the books and there is such a fuss about the final chapter, ,,but I bet its not as good as this ......magic = religion science= fiction, and this is a mix of both.

  • The series of HHGTTG from the 80's was based on the book, and it was good. This was sh*t. Then the end said 'for Douglas'. If i was him, i'd slap everyone involved.

  • Their is no fucking point to this movie wsa extremely dissapointed after it ended. I mean besides the neat jokes and ideas for the movie the rest seams to be garbage. The whole movie was concentrated on was what wasthe ultimate queation but it ended in complete disorganization. It headed in many different ways then ended up far away from anything the movie was getting at in the first place. Sorry But the movie had lots of potential but wasnt thought through enough.

  • @Phoenixadj i didnt mind it i think that that was the whole point of the film you try and make everything perfect and get the answers to everything but in the it doesnt work and you're stuck with what you had in the first place

  • @spinytoad288 well you make a point their. But still to me they made it out to be a fantasy movie, and it ended nothing fantastic, rather plain. So I mean you could look at it either way. I guess its an okay movie though.

  • @Phoenixadj no i argree it didnt live up to its potential but in my opinion its still a good film but each to their own i guess

  • probably one of my favourite films :)

  • Actually, the towel is the thing that a hitchhiker is the ultimate thing that he needs when he's in the universe. That is according to Ford's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Book, 2nd Edition, by Ford. Well, this is what the novel says.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! incorrect ending!

  • @scifirocks Actually, Adams was going to write a 6th book in which everyone comes back to life, but died before he could. so the ending to this movie might have been close to what he wanted to publish. In fact, Eoin Colfer is writing/has written a sixth book called "And Another Thing" which has that

  • thank you for uploading this video! i have been looking for this movie for a very long time, that has not been taken off YouTube, or sends you to a crappy site that you would have to do weird, stupid quizzes! so THANKS again! :D

  • whats with Ford or whatever his name is, and towels????

  • @Sirmorgarath it is very obvious the towel is for protection it is kinda like a shield, the creepy aliens (or whatever they are) fear the towel like most creatures hate their poems....but actually if you hit someone with a towel just right it can REALLY HURT!!!

but basically to answer your question the towel is for hiding himself, shielding from stuff, and to beat creatures with it!

  • @sevorpa so true.... thanks for answering me

  • @Sirmorgarath no problem! :D

  • so in conclusion always bring a towel into space and never trust mice again. Point taken.

  • You are bloody brilliant for uploading these! Thank You!!!

  • I love earth! :D

  • is that robert de niro at the end?

  • I still don't get what the significance of the towel was?

  • who was the face at the end?

  • @DTZMasters The face at the end was non other than Douglas Noel Adams, the guy who wrote the books. And I think some of the screen play. His face also apperes as a planet in the planet construction yard. Also, in the church the noses on the walls and banisters are moddeled after a digital scan of Douglas Adams face. Plus I like the fact that his initials are DNA lol.

  • @MrRobwave i was thinking the face was the writer of the books....Thanks...and yeah that's funny... DNA :3

  • @theanikkasparkles Actually, the author, Douglas Adams, wrote alot of the script, but he died, and they continued working on the film some years later to HONOUR HIM. Google before you comment next time, R.I.P Douglas.

  • I like seeing actors who have worked together before. Sam Rockwell and Alan Rickman were both in Galaxy Quest. I also find it interesting both this and that are comedies involving space.

  • Well, we could've done without RELIGION for starters Arthur......

  • @sebaschan23 Haha.

  • So long, and thanks for all the fish.

  • The ridiculous prices of condoms, birth control, and other things that prevent the spread of many more of our unique failures into this world..

  • it's at the END of the universe as in the END not the edge read the books script writers

  • @FlyingAce1016 Douglas Adams worked on the script

  • @deathsminion25 he died in 2001 though didn't he?

  • @FlyingAce1016 He still wrote some of the script, the movie was put on hold because he died and it was not finished, so the people that were working with him finished it up and it got made some years later than expected.

  • @deathsminion25 He wrote the book and the script?

  • @mjgpfull both, the whole book and half the script

  • @deathsminion25 Wow. I didn't know that, thanks man.

  • At the end Douglas Adams' face appears :)

  • @ 1337ijs, but then we would learn nothing.

  • We could do without: genocide, terrorism, pollution, landfills, depressions, nuclear weapons, racism, discrimination, gender inequality, Justien Bieber, Rebbeca Black, The Jonas Brothers, the Spiderman musical, the lack of alternative fuel sources and the Star Wars prequels.

  • @1337ijs Don't forget PETA

  • lol yeah

  • @1337ijs i disagree

i thought the Starwars prequals were great he should made Children of the Jedi into movies to.

  • @1337ijs You forgot capitalism and crappy game companies

  • @1337ijs Alternative energy and flying cars as well.

  • @1337ijs you forgot religion.

  • @1337ijs no spiderman musical? something so silly an horrifying ending in several wonderful catastrophes you must be insane, it was glorious.

  • @1337ijs Glee, WBC, Fox news, anyone regularly involved in Fox news, Rupert Murdoch, religion, MTV, Jersey Shore, The only way is Essex, Big Brother, snobby art "experts", economic catastrophe's, any snack dips that are green, post live aid Bob Geldoff, stupid "fashionable" unconventional celebrity baby names, the first 4 minutes of MJ's Thriller video, High School Musical, any movie about Cheerleading or that uses an R.Kelly track for it's "upbeat" ending and bears. Bears are just impractical.

  • @1337ijs why the star wars prequels just wondering

  • why couldn't they have just made it like the book? WHYYYY?

    -_-

  • @theanikkasparkles I know so confused.

  • @theanikkasparkles well theres been 2 radio show and a TV show about it exactly like the book. Plus its wayyy too long to compress into an hour and 45 minutes

  • That just brought back SO many childhood memories.

    Such a great movie.

  • the hole in the ozone, pollution, landfills, the poems by Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings of Greenbridge

  • self help books we could do without those or extremely high prices in theme parks

  • 2012 reversed : 21 x 2 = 42

  • we can do without justin bieber and rebbeca black

  • creationism + science = this : D

  • 1:39 - 1:50 Zooey is too cute! :)

  • Was that Douglas' face that the ship turned into at the end?

  • He should have said the world could do without the poetry of Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings. Just saying :)

  • he had a chance to put cloths on but i guess its to brezzy with that nice robe.

  • Thank you, Douglas :-)

  • my comment is going to be the 667 comment so that means there where 666 comments....SATAN SHALL PRAVAIL

  • Okay? Come on!

  • "not that anyone cares what i say, but the restaurant is at the other end of the galaxy..." xD The robot is just epic, and his timing are really execelent sometimes.

  • holy sh*t, i searched up on google "2 die = 42" because it is 42..and i found something that said "2 die,42 injured in school bus crash near St.Louis."(8th graders) and i thought...damn I guess the meaning of life is really just to die because those were just 8th graders and dont deserve to die..I'm just saying. You don't have to agree with me. :S

  • So there was one man painting Ayer's rock and one man filling the ocean, but about a dozen working in Arthur's garden?

Great film though, even better books.

  • @Snoflakeochaos Arthur deserves the attention

  • @Snoflakeochaos haha so true

  • woop love this film!!! XD

  • How did every one magically reappear? They all died.

  • @EcakCake2 Read Quantum Physics. This makes more sense than one might think, even though this is a comical hyperbolic representation of all that is to the topic.

  • @EcakCake2 backups?

  • The fact that a bunch of people just, made the earth, is messin with my mind

  • @derpeederpderp I know, right? Cause then like....who started the planet building business? Where did the people come from? o.o

  • *calculator thing and it says 42!!!! Lolz! Honestly it works! Oh and sorry my comments were, well, split I suppose, I accidentally pressed enter...:\

  • Did the ship turn into a fez? Fezzes are cool.

  • @GIRSDOOMETTE It did, and that's exactly what I thought as well *highfives*

  • @GIRSDOOMETTE just like bowties.

  • So if we go to the end of the universe, are we going to find Daniel Jackson sitting at a booth ordering waffles?

  • Thank you for posting. I LOVE this movie!

  • But is there an end to the usiverse???????

  • @matthewlimma The End of the universe meant the death of the universe in the books.

  • 1337% of Pi = 42. There, you have it.

  • @BISlover544 I'm afraid I don't remember, I found it online somewhere, my mind was sort of blown for a moment back then. I don't remember where it was, but if anywhere, it belongs here.

Also: f**k yeah! I got my first top rated comment ever! This is a good moment for me.

  • @Remerai Wow, you have L337 skillz

  • 13.37Pi=42.003093778495535598245542034446953561716154869645164826435009199155505352046614311656825614824105198921319916682584439871644702429691284438168055286677792540310298453124918027181332448608827527419206864413202744653530174737719416885729290919675969525277321339766664860921774347286613072529069531018829697728278326439413898165934713273027127206234421598723933113351489193437729637390906044747458010218119975704790205744412842528389396439019673815434987755562020101961715 to be more precise.

  • @tjrana0 MMMM Pi

  • @Remerai Oh my god that's just the best thing ever.

  • @Remerai HOLY SHIT!!

  • @Remerai 41.9818 but true

  • Also why should the film be like the book? The radio series came first so maybe compare it to that or compare the book to that if you really need to compare things!

  • The restaurant at the end of the universe. Should've made it a sequel.

  • I don't understand why people expect the movie to be EXACTLY like the book, First of do you know how much money it would cost to get THAT much detail!? if someone every tried..we can all say goodbye to health care! and each person imagined the book differently soo makin different copies of the movies just to fit the readers? nah i dont think so..latly..if u want the movie to be exactly like book..why not just read the book? now i havent read it my self but now im gonna :p

  • @XbladeDragon Once every 1000 years, the entire universe becomes exactly symmetrical, down to the last asteroid. When that happens...

someone makes an intelligent Youtube comment.

  • @XbladeDragon I've read the books, but I honestly don't have a problem with the movie. Yeah, some things could have been done better and it is a bit silly, but hey it's great entertainment anyway.

  • "Don't forget a towel"

  • I wish I had a space ship that could turn into Douglas Adam's head.

  • never leave home without a towel!.... wanna get high?

i immediately thought of towely at the end

  • "You're right, there is something this planet could do without. Me" Arthor said.

    -pulls out gun-

    BANG

  • This movies great im gonna try and buy it

  • Why do so many people hate this movie? I've read the books and grew up with the radio series and TV show, and I still like it.

  • @hahleemkay because it's boring as hell

  • is that douglas adams at 2:54?

  • Not that anyone cares what I say, but the restraunt is at the other end of the Universe.

  • So Long and Thanks for all the Fish!

  • This is the stupidest movie I've ever seen!!! and I love it!

  • @emptywood I FUCKING HATE THIS MOVIE but i love it at the same time :L
