The reason the frame rate drops and it looks slow and blurry when the brightness is increased is because the photo sensor in the cam requires (as with most digital cams) more time of exposure for each frame to get the brightness you want or need. So don't worry, it's not your computer, it's the camera.

if it hasnt been mentioned before. avatars dont work well in low light. proper lighting and or a light near the face helps. Rightlight can not correct the light enough to force avatar and other features to work :D i has Logi pro 9k :D

I actually like using 960x720 resolution as find the 640x480 a bit pastey. Says after recording 15fps but looks real nice. The lastest version can be found on any Logitech site except UK as links broken. ie US, Australia etc Logitech site has best compatibility and reliability lws201 software. Was having problems streaming through Firefox on lws110 which has the best amount of res to choose from but was blocking me at times. lws110 has 2MP res at 15fps unlike newest that has 5fps ie facepalm!

I did get my quickcam pro 9000 this week off ebay for a 40 quid bargain. In the post and my PC should pown this webcam on my Q9300 quad core :D Amazon when I was about to buy it off them changed the price up to about 48 quid aka pounds from 41 which really annoyed me so I powned that price on Ebay lol!!

I just bought this exact web cam. I find the picture quality to be horrible. I can't get anything even remotely as good as you do. First Kdenlive will capture some crappy video from it, but no audio. Cheese will not get anything from it. And when I boot in to windows I get audio and video but again the quality is crap. High def it's not.

Am I missing a setting somewhere. Why does it look like I tried to blow up a thumbnail to poster size?

The best webcam I've seen so far is facevsion webcam which has built-in h264 encoder and can do HD in skype, has dual stereo mic, and is MAC compatible. If getting logitech 9000 and you have mave a mac, make sure to get the mac version.
