@MrFarmer86 Got to love The Waterboys. And to think that song is about 20 years old.You would think Mr Scott, had just written that one yesterday.Everything he is singing about,is happening right now.Roll on the referendum, and we can divorce our self from the un equal union.See there playing with Scots lifes again at Westminster. There going to close down the clyde and forth coast guards. This is how much they care for Scots.Just like they did with the ambulences, not having cut of points lights.
it's an under 23's team. if you want to make some money go to the bookies and bet on david beckham being the coach. it is goverment spin at the expense of future stability of the scottish identity. why risk anything when you don't have to? as you say every four years in a pointless contest? the euro's of 2012 the month before will take all the glamour of the olympics anyway. why bother? spin spin spin you've been suckered by the labour party fella.
rugby union is a growing sport internationaly. football is over subscribbed at international level fifa is a powerfull corrupt body where everything and anything is possible. team gb is only a labour spin idea, wake up and take your head out of your arse
Iain Gray said today he supports a British team as "it would be nice" - but only if doesn't jeoperdise the independence of the Scottish team.
He obviously isnt up to speed on why Brown is pushing for the GB team in the first place, Brown knows fine that it would bring an end to a Scottish team and that is exactly what they want.
well done bcnsco, all i hear when iain gray speaks is "blah, blah.blah" then i nod off. no wonder anyone went to the scottish labour party conference in dundee on friday? gray, brown & roy speaking FFS more like an insomniacs rally!
There was a very good, spirited defence of the Scottish team by Pete Wishart, SNP, in the Commons. Typical that Ian Gray is now endorsing the idea of team GB and, as he is Labour, is just falling into line.
Apparently Gray is now going to classes to help him modify the monotone of his voice. (No amount of classes could modify his ideas though.)
if his masters told him shite smelled of roses he would argue black was white that it did! it's the labour party's achilles heel, fucking predictable and negative! no loyalty to their constituents or country.
Total bloody rubbish, it has been made very clear that the UKs status in FIFA will not change if we field a GB team in 2012. This is simple crap and its ashame idiotic fans from ALL parts of the UK even in England have been so against this, its disgusting and ruins something for many others.
Perhaps we should ask FIFA what happens if the UK splits into independent countries. Will England, Wales, NI and Scotland each have their own seat on making rules for international football giving us veto?
Or once we are independent countries will we lose that right and be treated as ordinary countries. Right now we have 50% of the voting share when it comes to football rules and FIFA have the other 50%. This is something FIFA has seriously wanted to do away with for a long time and a break up of the UK would certainly bring it about.
As usual separatist policies will weaken both England and Scotland on the world stage, at the UN, at the EU, and even in governing of Football!
are you sniffing glue britishwatcher? breaking up the union is only bad for whitehall! as usual narrow minded, illinformed, misty eyed unionism! the union is dying! open your union jack covered eyes and start smelling the coffee, it's a dead parrot, north & south of the border!
lmao, im sorry a break up of the union will be bad for all parts of the United Kingdom.
However as a football fan perhaps you could tell me what will happen when the UK breaks up and we each become independent countries. Right now the UK teams are given special status in the FIFA statutes allowing us to play as separate teams. But we also each have a seat on the International Football Association Board because we (well England) invented Football rules.
So when you separatists break up the UK, we will lose that special status and be treated as ordinary FIFA members. Loss of power and influence just like we could end up losing our seat on the United Nations security council.
you can't be that ignorant britishwatcher? we would have one vote! as scotland! we don't have a seat on the security council as scotland? and what has the uk done with it's votes? the uk does not have a 50% vote at fifa?
I didnt say at FIFA i am talking about the international board which decides rules to football (IFAB). Each British association has a seat on the board which total 50% and FIFA has 50% of the vote as well. That means that the United Kingdom is the only country in the world that can block a change to the rules of how the football game are governed.
Now u separatists go on about FIFA wanting to force us to have a single team, id say they are far more interested in taking away our VETO on rules
And that is EXACTLY what would happen if the UK broke up and we had to rejoin FIFA as individual teams and they would have no problem taking away our seats at IFAB.
We may play as indivvidual teams now but we do that because it is written into FIFA statutes that the British Associations are to have separate teams. U destroy Britain u destroy that status. We will then have to re apply to join FIFA and guess what they will say NO unless we give up our veto on the governing of football rules
right so let me get your logic here? trust fifa on a team gb? don't trust fifa on being crazy with the rules? your a fucking genius! stop making your argument to yourself! and apply some common sense before opening your mouth!
They have given written assurance that the UK fielding a team will not impact on our future status in FIFA, if they even try we can get the lawyers on em and they would lose.
However if the UK broke up everything changes. the "British associations" special mention in the FIFA statutes would no longer apply, we would have to reapply to join. And we will have to accept losing our veto power on IFAB which would be a great shame.
Ofcourse most Football fans have not even heard of IFAB and they dont know that the UK football associations have their own team because its written quite clearly in FIFA statutes.
So im sorry if i dont think the bunch of spoil sport football fans are right when the FIFA president is on the record as saying it will have no impact on our future status.
Scotland is part of the UK and there for its represented on the United Nations security council which most countries would love to be on. U want to throw that away and give urself a single seat in the assembly where no body listens to you.
thats great and it shows the lack of vision and ambition some people clearly have for an independent Scotland. Ofcourse the implications of a break up of the UK are not gone into often by the separatists. When asked a hard question they fall back on OIL OIL
most England fans want a team GB including me and its mixed in the other 3 countries, so we need a vote that doesn't include England
