Looking back on it Ledger was brilliant, no doubt, but the writing was pretty shit. 'What happened, ya balls drop off?'. Is that the best they could do? And the corny stereotypical Eastern European accent. And let's face it, the movie wasn't all that. Without Ledger, it would have been a disaster!

I don't think it's fair to say the overall writing was shit due to a minor line.

The ONE thing that bothered me was that they changed the actress who played Rachel. They developed her character in Batman Begins, but all that pretty much went away for me when I saw the Dark Knight so her death didn't have as much of an impact for me.

The best part of this scene is where he says "I'm not,... no I'm not". It is an instant switch from funny Joker to evil Joker. It is so well done. Only 3 seconds long, but for me it is the best part of the film. Ledger changes the atmospere, just for a second. Very very well done. Just gives you a glimpse of the lunatic side of the character, before he returns it to the clown side. Look out for the little wink as he says it. Brilliant.
