this version is a japanese version talking about okinawans in japan. the real version goes something more like ひやあさどやよくわまによ　さゆいゆい　あん美らさよつぃぃむ　っやびきやの　はれのつぃｍだらつぃｍだらよい

To the person who posted this video -- yes, it is indeed an Okinawan folk song. It originated on Taketomi island (south of Ishigaki).  In the early 1700s, a government official from the mainland (or mainland Okinawan; I can't remember) wanted a beautiful local girl named Kuyama to become his wife, but she refused him. You can still see her house on Taketomi if you go there, and her grave in the northwest part of the island is amazingly well-tended.

Visit Taketomi; it's fantastic!
