  • @ryanexsus well his name sounds German, his channel page says he's German and last time I checked the Russians never fought in Normandy.

but don't act like an asshole because his grandfathers where German soldiers. Soldiers are just soldiers, they follow orders and that's it. Please don't blame them for doing what they where told to do.

My grandfather's nephews where all killed in the defence of my country but he doesn't hold a grudge against the man who killed them

  • @l4mp13 *change man in the last line to soldiers please :P

  • @l4mp13 Na the comment way down said his gramps fought in Stalingrad. Which is the Eastern front, which could only be Russian or German. It's not an insult in any way I was just curious.

  • i wish i had your grandpa! bad ass grandpa

Grandpa: GET OF MY FUCKING LAWN YOU GERMANS!

  • I'm 55 and I just recently shot the M1 Garand and it was quite an experience. I teared up thinking about how my Grandpa (a 36 year old infantry Private in WWII) was under return fire when he was shooting this weapon. The young guys in his squad called him Gramps back then. Rest in peace Grampa Pepe, I'll see ya soon enough.

  • is he a veteran?

  • Gramps is Hotshit..... Nice vid

  • your grandad is a legend, mine has still got the Lee Enfield he was issued with in 1939!

  • you should spread out your stance more, lower your center of gravity, and lean forward a bit, so that the rifle doesnt rock your body back as much

  • was he at WW II ?

  • what a grandpa

  • It's Clint Eastwood training for Gran Torino!

  • awesome grandad, my grandad was in the navy... marksman and i think he operated the big warship guns, i dont think he has any of the weapons or anything... not sure

  • Man, that M1 Garand is a beauty! That old guy fires it like a champ too! I would love to own one of these awesome pieces of history one day...

  • @jrpeters5 if that guy was in WW2 then he probably shoots like a champ cuz he had to! but those guns are sweet. my pap has an M1 Carbine thats never been shot. i think he wsa int he national guard or something, but were planning on going out to shoot it sometime soon. its gonna be epic.

  • nice range

  • wtf dats a G grandpa

  • i love that sound when theclip goes out off the gun. . .so cool

  • is your grandpa ww2 veteran?

  • haha gramps squeeze a few off in ww2

  • What kind of Mauser is that? Doesn't really look like the Kar98k from WWII (gonna assume you meant the Kar98k from WWII since you've got the Garand).

  • @H0llaZ1990 its a hunting rifle made from a Mauser 98 action.

  • @Bodacious468 Oh I see, thanks.

  • World war 2 veteran probably.

  • Did your grandfather fought in the war ?

He really knows how to handle that weapon!

    Respect

  • lean forward when your standing

  • I love this weapon ^^

  • this is my grandfather in the video, the following is an excerpt from the email I sent him telling him that 150,000 people saw this video.

    STEVE,

IF ANY OF THESE ONE HUNDREDFORTY THOUSAND PEOPLE SHOW UP AT MY DOOR WANTING SHOOTING LESSIONS.....

IM GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS SO HARD YOU WILL BE WEARING YOUR ASSHOLE AS A HAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • grandpa=man

  • i had two granpas in WW2 both died a couple years after the war

  • your grandpa is a gangsta! lol

  • @Dyaytrumpet1995 What a compliment.

  • my grandpa sucks ass man, he dont even like guns lol

    awsome vid though

  • ahh the sound of a M1 grand clip flying out of the gun XD

  • @jack661999 Thanks!

  • i hate to be one of those douchey kids who thinks they know more about guns than anyone else, but here is my advice, take it or leave it, when shooting in a standing position, lean farther forward, so it keeps the recoil lower, wont throw you off balance, and keeps your profile lower, i know your not in a combat situation, but like i always say, train like you fight.

  • your grandad is legendary

  • I want a grandpa like that!

My Great Grandapa died and he was in WWII

  • What a privelege to be able to shoot with someone like that,

  • Thats just one bullet at a time imagine like a whole army firing these jesus that would be so loud. and i imaging that pinging sound ment bad for americans good for germans to kill you.

  • did ypur grandpa fought in ww2

  • Is it really that loud, or is that mainly the camera/echoing in the shelter

  • o they are loud!

  • i own a k98 and i can tell u ear protection is a must lol. same with the garand.

  • I'm long since used to the sounds of the 98k and the Garand, nowadays its music to my ears.

  • how come when you are out of rounds on the last shot it makes a pinging sound?

  • That's the sound of the clip ejecting from the gun. It ejects automatically after the last round is fired, and when it bounces off a surface it makes a "ping" sound.

  • It was specifically made to do that so the GI knew he was out of rounds and needed a new mag in, the germans in ww2 used this to their advantage and listened for it. Howver, soldiers countered it by taking empty cartridges and throwing them on the ground. M1Garand= on of the best guns EVER. When i turn 18 in 3 years i want this to be my first gun.. altho i have my grandpas k98 mauser but its got bolt prblems :/

  • @THEMRJISHERE the clip that holds to bullets is ejected, thats what you hear

  • @THEMRJISHERE the empty cartridge is ejected

  • im 11 and ive shot one and it was awesome!!!!

  • your grandpa seems cool

  • I love the M1 Garand. I remember watching old WW2 newsreels or WW2 movies and admiring the M1. I admired it so much that I now have one myself and it's fantastic to shoot. You have real authority with one of these in your hands. That .30-'06 round is a beast! Anything within 600 yards is a goner.

  • Im suprised he wasnt on your ass about how you were holding it at the stand position haha +1 to the old man gettin his kicks back

  • dude, you got one solid grandpa. my hat goes off to him.

  • @Branski81 true that i have two ww2 vet grandpa's

  • M1 Garand is one of the best american rifles. that 30-06 round packs quite a punch.

  • Less hippy kid, more old man

  • ahh the weapons of WWII

  • grandson lad, person. dont jerk the trigger, why firing squeeze it. alot more accurate with a steady squeeze versus a quick jerk.

  • more of gramps less of long haired hippie

  • was he in WW2? korea? vietnam?

  • He reminds me of my grandfather. I remember when I was like 8 years old and he showed me his M1. When he shot it, I got so fucking scared lol.

  • I bet that brought memories back to him from the war

  • @hoang1428 What war? He is definitly not 90. But maybe Korea, i doutb it though

  • I miss shot with my grandfather. Do it as often as you can.

  • is he a wwii vet?

  • ur gramps reminds me of walt kowalski.

  • i was just about to comment that

  • just joining in on the conversation with the m16 and what not....from what i've seen from the history channel the m16 got issued during vietnam to replace the m14 rifle...a stupid idea in my opinion...after the m16 got into use the amount of dead people to bullets expended went up dramatically if you ask me it sounds like we went from shooting accurately to just throwing enough rounds down range in the hopes that something or someone got killed in the process

  • Shouldn't he be wearing ear protectors?

  • Hes 90 hishearing is already gone probabily..

  • Yeah lol

  • good show! wish i could still talk and hang with my gramps.

  • @Justincase8696

The M16 jams if it gets dirty, that is, if it is used on a real battlefield. Ask your uncle!

The M16 is one of those ideas that looks good on paper but not in the real world. It shoots a small bullet at a very high velocity. The idea was to cut down on ammunition weight. Any Vietnam vet will tell you about the jamming problem.

  • My Paps was in Desert Storm and tells me that they have fixed the jamming problem.

  • @mrhnm True, however, tests conducted in 2006 with both the M16A4 and M4A1 and both consistently jammed 600+ times per every 10,000 Shots. the SCAR jammed slightly less than 500 times, and the XM8 jammed slightly more than 400 times.

  • What are the rates on the M-14?, I got some trigger time with the mini-14 (m-14 in 5.56 caliber) we fired 60 rounds and it jammed twice...

  • @mrhnm The M14 hasn't recently been tested for reliability, but my great uncle (Who had one in 'Nam) would swear by it, even to this day. I know for a fact it jammed less than a M16

  • @Skeptic121 New sniper cartridges shoot a 72gr bullet that is reportedly lethal to 700 yards by Army testing. However, the M16 does jam significantly more, but is pinpoint accurate over just about any largely fielded assault rifle out there. The jamming problem, while still significant, isn't nearly as bad as it used to be.

  • The M16 2A jams? I thought they took care of that, but am not surprised. It didn't/doesn't use the usual mechanical rod and piston type correct? Just gas back-pressure? (disclaimer: as you can see I'm just learning about these rifles hehe, but still..)

  • @RattlerBK Oh yeah, it uses direct impingement. Gases are taken directly from the barrel and pushed to the bolt in the upper receiver. This eliminates most of the recoil, however, it also deposits alot of carbon and deposites from the burning gun powder directly in the mechanics of the gun, leading to a shitload of jams. But, it is extremely accurate and fast firing. Most other rifles use a piston, which is very reliable, but less accurate.

  • @Justincase8696

The M14 fires 7.62mm or .308 rounds (the same round in metric and English units).

BTW, the M14 is still used today by elite soldiers whose lives are valued by the military or whose mission is considered important. The average grunts are expected to die with the M16. Colt and its successor companies have given a LOT of money to politicians, a very good business practice. Not so good for our boys getting killed by the M16 but it's the way military procurement works.

  • @Skeptic121 A .308 has a thinner shell casing and thus handles more powder, and thus more pressure, while a 7.62 NATO has a thick case and is set to handle pressures of 50,000PSI , while most commercial .308's can handle anywhere from 40-70,000 psi, thus, they are not always interchangeable.

  • ILoveAIrsoft hes deaf already

  • you know its a shame that the first world war was all caused by an assassination.

  • damn, long conversation going on down there. please spam it sugary t12

  • Thats gonna hurt your ears without headphones

  • @aphsknight74 Regarding the M16: Col. David Hackworth, the most decorated officer of the Vietnam era, complained to his superiors that the M16 would kill many American boys, as it has done. They laughed at him for caring and told him to buy stock in Colt. He was universally recognized as the best battalion commander in Vietnam, but went public against the war. The man had a pair of balls, unlike officers today. Today, Hack would be lucky to make E5. See "About Face"

  • Skeptic121, let me put this to you BRITIAN had NO duty to defend ANY country other than itself. NONE. Not Belguin in 1914 nor Poland in 1939, however she did.

  • @zaybxcwd12 That's right and that's why Britain lost her empire and is a third world hell-hole today. Giving Poland a war guarantee was the stupidest thing Britain could have done.

But don't listen to me, Pat Buchanan has said it much better than I ever could. So we entered WWII (the one with Hitler in charge of Germany) and instead of Hitler we end up with Stalin and Mao Zedong. BIG improvement for my country? NOT !

  • my mum has a sturmgewerh 44

  • My Opa had a Mauser, I might get it for christmas in a couple years =]

  • god people like jeedo need to go die or at least stop talking shit about americans i bet if america wasnt here the world we be a much worse place. nazi germany woulda destroyed great britian it makes you think what would the world be like today...

  • @abigbowlmovemnt

Dude, you're not doing much for our reputation by misspelling Britain. I wish the US had stayed out of World War ONE. For those who don't know, Hitler served in WWI as a corporal. The German Head of State at the time was called the Kaiser. Had Germany and Britain agreed to a cease fire with no punitive terms, there would have been no Nazi Germany and no Communism. What's not to like?

  • WW1 and WW2 was going on way before the U.S joined.

  • @MrBdobb Yes, and the USA could have stayed out of World War ONE, which would have forced Britain and Germany to accept an armistice that punished neither side. With no punitive peace treaty, there would have been little or no support for the Nazis, no Hitler, and no holocaust.

  • Versailles treaty was hardly punative, and France would have been the big loser in your scenario. After all the damage that Germany did to France (and Belgium) the reparations were very moderate. Consider that Germany had imposed reparations on France in 1870, even when such occupation of Germany had not happened.

  • Hitler rose to power because he promised his Nation so much, They would have been in a depression either way, And they would have needed money, And arms. As for the German empire and Britain coming to a treaty... No chance. There is a reason why the U.S. got involved. The German Empire, Just as Nazi Germany, Would have CRUSHED the allies without a significant amount of support. The Brits needed us just as much as we needed them. The war would have been lost had not the allies been that strong.

  • @aphsknight74 Let me put it another way: the USA has NO duty to defend ANY country other than itself. NONE. Not Britain in 1917 and not Israel, Europe, Japan, or South Korea today. Until we get that right we will continue down the path to dictatorship and economic collapse.

Let's get down to the nasty: did the USA have a duty to protect the Jews from Hitler? NO.

It would have been nice to let them leave Europe and come the the US, but whether to be nice in that way would have been OUR CHOICE.

  • Had the U.S. Never gotten involved in either war, The world would be ruled by Germans. Woodrow Wilson, And Roosevelt(FDR) Both understood that. The U.S. has every right to step in and defend itself. The Germans would have take Britain, Then the U.S. It's called early intervention, Same way to fight cancer.

  • @aphsknight74

The Germans and the Brits fought to a standstill before the US entered WWI (the one in which Adolf Hitler was a corporal). If the Germans couldn't defeat the Brits how the hell were they going to invade North America? The communists were no improvement over the Kaiser. Again, the Kaiser was NOT a Nazi, because the Nazis were in WWII not WWI.

Sorry to belabor WWI versus WWII but a surprising percentage of public high school grads don't know the difference.

  • Believe me, I know the difference. Also the Nazi's weren't communist, They were Fascist, To conflicting forms of government. As for the stand still, They wouldn't have stayed that way, Germany was constantly, And rapidly expanding it's military might. The German Empire, And the Nazi's were both excellent weapons producers.

  • @aphsknight74

We are all entitled to our own opinions but not to our own facts. It is a fact that Germany and Britain had fought to a standstill in World War One before the US entered. If the war had been settled without the US, Germany would have been in no condition to start a war with the USA. Germany has never been a great naval power and certainly was not one in WWI. WWII vets loved to mouth the platitude "we'd all be speaking German" but repetition does not make it so.

  • You're kidding me right? Germany had U-boats, When no one else did, And had the ability to use them against the allies. Had they stayed at the stand still, The Brilliant German Tacticians would have broken the lines, And pushed through with their superior tactical skills, And equipment. Either way, Both countries would have been financially screwed, And Hitler still would have had a leg to stand on.

  • @aphsknight74

Sorry, but you need to read up. Not your fault...American public schools are a crime against humanity.

  • You need to do more research on War technology, Weapons, And Tactics. The first country to use the U-Boats=Germany, Year invented 1850, Year first achieved by an Allied nation, 1922. Germans had more Machine guns, Better tactics, And better technology. Fewer numbers sure, But in the end, Those numbers would have meant nothing. And besides, I am a military tactician for the U.S. Army. I have a Masters in Military Arts from Valley Forge Army College. I know my war history and technology.

  • @aphsknight74 "I am a military tactician for the U.S. Army. " Please tell me that's a lie!

Otherwise, call up the enemy and surrender!

  • It's true, And I do my Job well. It was my idea to push control on Helmand Province, And poof we caught 12 head honchos of Al-Qaeda.

  • @aphsknight74 Dude, I think we better just give up in AFG if you are even an E5!

  • E-5...Haha. I haven't been called Sarge in years kid. After I went through OCS and spent a few years in Valley Forge, People call me Colonel now, You're close, Except you have to switch the E for an O, And swap the 5 for a 6. I'm probably old enough to be your dad kid.

  • @aphsknight74: I am 56 and literate. You are a semi-literate government bureaucrat. It is alarming to me that someone of your limited intellect could have reached O6. That is one reason I want to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, then radically downsize our military: standards are being destroyed. Hint: "job" is not capitalized and "poof" means a queer. You meant "proof" but you don't read what you write.

The same fools who gave us the M16 are still killing our boys for nothing.

  • As for Illiteracy, I am quite literate. In order to graduate from Valley forge military College, You need to be literate. As for the job thing, I just type that way. And no, I meant Poof. You know, signifying how quickly it happened. You're misinterpretation lead to you being the illiterate one. As for the M16, Not only is it lighter than the M14, and has more ammo per magazine, but has a faster traveling round, and significantly lower recoil, Making it easier to train soldiers with.

  • thats a pretty arrogant post youre right about iraq and afghanistan but are you seriously making that idiotic comment about u.s. soldiers not holding respect or having anything good to say about foreign troops? youre high.....

  • nowadays robbers need to think twice about robbing even old people!

  • your grandfather has GREAT taste in rifles, looks like a great time!
