  • jack brewer is my uncle and im honored to be related to such an awesome singer from such an awesome band i wish i was alive to see this.

  • hell yes Joe Baiza is amazing glad to of met him

  • Cramps = a hotdog........Sacharine Trust = strange Mexican stew with indo-chinese flourishes......nick cave is like a big loaf of bread....i like layers of meaning, thus i would have to stronlgy disagree with you.

  • They were played on WMUH and WLVR in 84 + 85.

    great name.

  • The name comes from a line in a David Bowie song, " The Bewlay Brothers"

  • Did not know that, ear. Thank you, mang.

  • Had never heard of the song-looked it up.

No one seems to know what it means.

A lot of Bowie's stuff is not even heard on college radio, however, a lot of his stuff sounds awful.

  • Just sounds like mashed shit sorry. I can't get a melody or a lyrics from it =/. Footage must still be great for fans.

  • Black Flag where not so tecnically skilled, S.T. were better musicians at that time ... but Black Flag probably had better songs and a better stage. If you think, the Beatles were not the best musicians in history ...

  • "surviving you always" is a great great lp.....a masterpiece, which in a right world (a world where people were brighter and knew how to listen to higher forms of music) would routinely be played on 'classic rock' staions.

  • lol..you obviously weren't at that show. but your correct we are all entitled to our opinion.thanks for yours

  • Cool band but "blew Black Flag off the stage". Get real.

  • Actually P4, this is not a good clip of them. They are better with the crazy sax. I've seen Black Flag with both singers, and Saccharine Trust separately. BF is hardcore, these guys have a hardcore element, but jazz talents. ST is hands down superior in a techical and in an artistic way, but art is in the eye of the beholder. And Black Flag was decidely a great and pioneering band. Cheers...

  • Well, during '84 - '86, especially '84 and '85, Ginn was influenced by jazz. His phrasing sounds a bit like Ayler. Of course, Ayler wasn't the most technically gifted musician, either.

  • laughing at bosses jokes

  • Chuck...is that you?

  • no hes on m y space thou

  • Saccharine Trust --->> saw them in 80's and yes they they blew fucking black flag off the stage..one of the best bands i saw back then.and were really nice guys to boot...

  • Cool band but "blew Black Flag off the stage". Get real. The mighty Black Flag topped all. But hey, that's your opinion. A million fans will disagree with ya also.

  • I saw a blue million gigs in the 80`s. Some mainstreem. Most in the LA area. TSOL and ST were one in the same to me. Beatfarmers were always a fun gig same with Minutemen. Seeing Bauhaus in Germany was a treat. I can tell you BF was never blown away and Dan Ash has something for every punk guitarist. You may not like goth. He is the most talented guitarrist in the alternative scene. I would have to say Cheetah Chrome probably second. Honorable Ginn and EB Ray.

  • The person that said BF was blown off the stage was probably the only one at the venue that thought that, lol!! Yeah, I saw them during the Slip It In tour & in Jan. 1986 In My Head tour & they were like no other bands that I've seen to this day. Greg Ginn had his own style with the "anti-solo" & great music, way better than Saccharine I thought. I also saw BF w/Dez singing at the Cat Rescue benfit in 2003. Daniel Ash is a good guitarist. I like the Bau Haus & Love & Rockets stuff. Later.

  • Yeah Bud, if 86 was the first time you saw BF, then you really never saw them. A lot of people agree that BF was OVER when Henry joined. Although I wasn't aware that Dez sang with them again in 2003...Dez's DC3 was a really good band...technically exellent and full of energy...one of the best things to come out of the ashes of BF

  • No , the first time I saw BF was in 1984 after Slip It In came out. I went to the Cat's Benefit at the Palladium also but Dez (the least-important BF vox) didn't cut it. Those that agree that Henry wasn't real BF don't matter to me. The Henry, Greg, Kira, Bill era were the best BF being how eclectic they were with their sound/style. That lineup had the most releases also. Punk, metal, jazz, experi, spoken, that lineup had it all. To answer you, yeah, I did see BF at their prime & their best.

  • The definitive line-up!

  • Amazing. Pagan Icons is required vinyl for any self respecting punk collector

  • Is that Mark Hodson on bass? He was the best of the bunch.

  • surviving you always changed my life. brilliant sounds.

  • I remember these guys completely stealing the show from Black Flag at the Mudclub in like '81 or '82 Shame they didn't get more recognition, the follow up record to Pagan Icons, "Surviving You Always" should be required listening to anyone interested in this era of underground music (btw this song is the bridge to "Our Discovery" from that same album, not available on Cd Does anyone know if it is?)

  • I had the "Sacchrimental Element" comp cassette (both PAGAN ICONS, some b-sides, and SURVIVING YOU ALWAYS) back in high school. I loved it so much. But my cats got to it. I miss that tape.

Thanks so much for sharing this.

  • dude, let's face it: they stopped trying after the brilliant 'surviving u always'...those lps are generally not very challenging and not very good.......i guess they figured 'why bother throwing pearls before swine?'

  • Yeah I guess that's true, but each of the recordings after SYA had their moments...you could probably cull like three-four songs from each of the later records and make one more fantastic one like SYA was.

  • @posthumanheroI think you made a valid point. My point is I really do appreciate you listening so intensely

to notice a depreciation in quality. We missed it./ We thought we were trying harder. But honestly you are the listener. I believe you would know better. So for you when we record our next last album" Acts and Names"

we will keep your insight in mind. And I will make sure that we do rock harder, feel harder, experiment harder, grasp further, cry harder, love harder. Trust us !

  • @mywifespoetry wow yea, the second time i read it i knew u knew because i too like to drone too.......lol........met jack and joe at city gardens back on the 'surviving' tour and they cared so much about the music they'd review tapes of themsleves after the show, whereupon jack explained to me the lyrics of the album -- something about religion and space.......i was too young to understand nor recognized that skunky scent.

  • @posthumanhero Ha, ha, that is funny. That skunky scent was Tom Trocolli's Dog. I've never been a smoker. Strictly a beer drinker. But I did ramble a lot and have been known to take myself and everything around me too seriously. All in a days work, I guess.

  • @mywifespoetry yea, i was most sure you guys were obsessed with your music and not real partiers........guess your the singer?........well, nice to talk to u: suving u is a briliant album, like sun city girls first coupla efforts and rat at rat r's lp from the same time period it changed the way i viewed music and not many people got it: ..........shit always rises to the top but beatnik-isms transcend time..........look forward to hearing u write songs again..

  • What a great band. The lyrics were really great too..

  • OMG... what a rare video... S.T. is the best punk band ever!!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!! -from korea

  • THE BEST! Snakes on a PLAIN!
