Crowley's Large Influence Upon Rock Music (and it's fans)
Lest you think that Aleister Crowley (born Edward Alexander Crowley, 1875-1947) was just some crazy fool that no one took seriously, think again. Crowley has had a large influence upon modern rock music.
Unbeknownst to most Americans, much of the Hellish music which they idolize was written and sang by devout followers of Crowley and his Satanism.
Guitarist Jimmy PaIge of Zeppelin is a devout follower of Satanist, Aleister Crowley, who proclaimed himself as "The Beast 666". Aleister Crowley was also a 33rd and 97th Degree Freemason and is recognized as the master Satanist of the 20th century.
In 1971, guitarist Jimmy Page bought Crowley’s Boleskine House on the shore of Loch Ness where Crowley practiced his hellish, satanic sex-magick rituals, including human sacrifices. Guitarist Jimmy Page actually performed Crowley magical rituals during their concerts. Their song "Stairway to Heaven" carries the reference "May Queen," which is purportedly the name of a hideous poem written by Crowley.
Page had inscribed in the vinyl of their album Led Zeppelin III, Crowley's famous "Do what thou wilt. So mete it Be.’ Page and Robert Plant claim some of Zeppelins' songs came via occultic "automatic handwriting," including their popular "Stairway to Heaven."
The cover of the Sergeant Pepper's album by the Beatles showed a background of, according to Ringo Starr, people "we like and admire"
(Hit Parade, Oct. 1976, p.14). Paul McCartney said of Sgt. Pepper's cover, ". . . we were going to have photos on the wall of all our HEROES . . ." (Musician, Special Collectors Edition, - Beatles and Rolling Stones, 1988, p.12). One of the Beatle's heroes included on the cover of Sgt. Pepper's was — the infamous Satanist, Aleister Crowley! Most people, especially in 1967, did not even know who Crowley was — but the Beatles certainly did.

i was there also, i think we paid about a fiver for a ticket ,that was about half an hour before the fence went down, mind you it was good to see todd rundgren.
Jimmy was like "oh crap I forgot my clothes from the previous tours, what can i wear for this gig at Knebworth, oh let's wear this dress shirt and pants because i'm fucking Jimmy Page"
I believe only "The Wall" could be a better live show. By far this is the best live version of any song ever, though. Check out something called the original Kashmir video, it shows an epic beginning.
It's a pity the video doesn't show the very beginning of the song, with Jimmy Page doing an improv intro using a fluorescent violin bow in a completely dark stage (it was like 10 pm). The stage exploded with light when the song started and I was in a trance-like state during the whole song. Yes, I was there! Awesome show!
Week 2, August 1979, light mizzle. Security by Artists International, me sixteen years old and "bricking it " as made to walk gauntlet of cons on day-release from Rampton check us for stuff. Main memories are, free Galoise , the stench of dysentary and cholera from overflowing latrines and my kudos to the Hells Angles who had camped within inches of sewage storage facility. Tickets were £10 i recall and the only alcohol was cider. Zep were 2 hrs late and we had to sleep on Stevenage station.

I think led Zeppelin is absolutely best live. And Bozo makes drumming look so easy, and impossible too. On Kashmir, at least the version I have, it sounds like he plays a liiiiitle bit slower than the rest, I guess he doesn`t, but it sounds heavy man!

it shouldnt even be called rock n roll it should just be called LED ZEPPELIN.
we will never see another band close to this its impossible there will never be another band that can say they were the best at every position on stage
robbert plant best( vocalist ever)
bonham (by far and away the greatest drummer)
jimmy page( the greatest to ever pick up a guitar)
have you heard unledded? page and plant did it in like 94 or something and it's great, it was a live show with all kinds of guest musicians form around the world like 80 drummers from africa among others
I agree that Zeppelin's members are all among the best at their instrument, but there are plenty of contenders for all the top spots. Neil Peart and Keith Moon could both have given Bonham a run for his money. John Entwistle, Geddy Lee and Les Claypool are all bassists of the same calibre as JPJ. As for Page..well, he's a god, but so are Clapton, Hendrix, Beck and Blackmoore. I'll agree that Plant is probably the greatest vocalist ever on a stage. It all comes down to preference, I suppose.
@lzds2112 i deffinately dont dissmiss any of the artist you mentioned. you have a very valid point i suppose i am just byass to zeppelin. but i will say there will never be a better collection of 4 people to form one group than zeppelin. 4 gods on one stage,
Oh, I think they could. They're very different from him though. Bonham always played with a certain restraint, Moon was just completely insane and Peart always plays very complex arrangements. It's hard to compare them, but I still think those 3 are the uncontested greatest drummers ever.
And that kind of playing complimented Jimmy Page's improvisations and Robert Plant's wailing very well - he stayed in the background. Moon and Peart always took the lead a lot more, with solos and improvisations. As I said, they're just very different styles of playing. Suggesting that Moon and Peart don't/didn't have skill and discipline is just stupid.
To 7snugguns7 By weird Cymbal sound do you mean that odd sizzle it has? Although the recording quality of this Concert was pretty good I think deterioration of the Original Master tapes may have caused the 'sizzling' from the cymbals as they die off -to answer your question. I was there that night in that open field.. a unique experience and memorable journey (!) ThanX 74BlackDiamond
FucK! Bonzo was so fucking awesome banging the skins...nobody, and I mean NOBODY can, could, or ever will touch him...he WAS Led Zeppelin..he was the driving force of their music. Why do all the great ones have to die? God, I wish I could run across one drummer with half the talent and ability of Bonham sometime in my career before its too late. Great video of my favorite Zeppelin tune.
I don't know what it is about it but I absolutely love the transition from Black Mountain Side to Kashmir. Stand up, new song.

Robert Plant is a little too much on the improvising mood for me, but this performance stands as one of the best for this song.
smokeymonkeyorg 1 year ago
This is from Aug 11
btw they had them wear the same clothes at both of the gigs because since it was being filmed they needed continuity
amilks96 1 year ago
Does anybody know if this is from the Aug 4 or Aug 11 gig?
supsailor1885 1 year ago
Well, Robert Plant was wearing this shirt when I saw them on the 4th - but who knows? he might have worn it the week after too??
kym1518 1 year ago
Plant is so fucking amazing.

Jimmy Page is sweating pure opium!
benebrius 2 years ago 71

@benebrius lol good one!

@benebrius I don't know how to say this, so I guess I will come right out and say it. I am a heavy user of opiates, and every time I watch this stuff from when I was quite young, a child really, I always wondered why he sweat so much?? Now I know!!

MrFlyagaric 2 years ago 2
you would think that this song would have an orchestra but yet again its the fantastic JPJ.
GermanBoy901234 2 years ago 2
it shouldnt even be called rock n roll it should just be called LED ZEPPELIN.
we will never see another band close to this its impossible there will never be another band that can say they were the best at every position on stage
robbert plant best( vocalist ever)
bonham (by far and away the greatest drummer)
jimmy page( the greatest to ever pick up a guitar)
JPJ(greatest bass player rock has ever seen)
#1 Led zeppelin
#2- who gives a fuck
thefamcnaj 2 years ago 6
i agree 100% but JPJ is also the best keyboardist
JimmyPage115 2 years ago 3
u my friend, are very correct.
michaelspadaro6 2 years ago
Plant is pretty good, but only in Zeppelin :/ and it's impossible to decide on the greatest guitarist
leemond09 2 years ago
@leemond09 what does "but only in zeppelin even mean?!" he's pretty damn great, and he IS in zeppelin, who cares about solo shit or whatever!
3agleh 2 years ago
have you heard unledded? page and plant did it in like 94 or something and it's great, it was a live show with all kinds of guest musicians form around the world like 80 drummers from africa among others
n0possibility 1 year ago
I agree that Zeppelin's members are all among the best at their instrument, but there are plenty of contenders for all the top spots. Neil Peart and Keith Moon could both have given Bonham a run for his money. John Entwistle, Geddy Lee and Les Claypool are all bassists of the same calibre as JPJ. As for Page..well, he's a god, but so are Clapton, Hendrix, Beck and Blackmoore. I'll agree that Plant is probably the greatest vocalist ever on a stage. It all comes down to preference, I suppose.
lzds2112 1 year ago
@lzds2112 i deffinately dont dissmiss any of the artist you mentioned. you have a very valid point i suppose i am just byass to zeppelin. but i will say there will never be a better collection of 4 people to form one group than zeppelin. 4 gods on one stage,
thefamcnaj 1 year ago 2
Moon and Peart could give Bonham a ride for his money? Nope
musicman9583 1 year ago
@musicman9583
Oh, I think they could. They're very different from him though. Bonham always played with a certain restraint, Moon was just completely insane and Peart always plays very complex arrangements. It's hard to compare them, but I still think those 3 are the uncontested greatest drummers ever.
lzds2112 1 year ago
@lzds2112 Its called; skill and discipline, part of playing in a band, he was extremely balanced, they werent.
Lukestar1991 1 year ago
@Lukestar1991

I wish i was at the Song Remains The Same concert in New York! I woud've had my screaming voice in the background when they made it into an album

The sexyest guitar rift of all time!
AlasterZeno 2 years ago 4
Great video of my favorite Zeppelin tune.

frogslegsonfire 2 years ago 7
what is that wierd cymbal sound
7snugguns7 2 years ago
The signal from the mics on the cymbals were fed through a processing device most probably a phaser. Definitely not due to audio degradation.
