The time when the hideous mullet ruled earth. I wonder if it gave inspiration or talent to artists. Since right after it went extinct, no quality acts have surfaced in the music industry....hmmm....something there to study.
Shadowfax released their first album in 1976 called "Watercourse Way" and it was remixed and released on CD in '85. Their 2nd album did not come out til 1982. Click on "The Shape of a Word" video for a cut off of the first album. It's excellent..
What Goes Around:This was a music video made at A&M Studios. They are lip-synching. It was recorded around 1986. It had never been previously recorded. This violinist is Charles Bisharat NOT Jerry Goodman.Glad you appreciate the audiophile quality.
This tune really makes my vintage JBL's sing while being played through my Mark Levinson No.38 preamp and Wadia 8 Transport powered by an Adcom GFA-5500 dual mono 200W Amplfier.
Thanks for uploading this.I had recorded this footage from VH1's New Visions in 1986 also. The VHS tape is in poor quality.I am glad to finally see this again. You have made my day.
@oldschoolbbass First I ever saw it was on an episode of Night Flight around the same time. It was in a segment called, "Scenic Videos", with artists like Airto and other I can't recall at the moment.
G. E. Stinson is from my town.
The violinist used to be a member of a hard rock/psych band called, The Flock. I LOVE his eyes at te 2:51 - 2:55 mark!! SO soulful!!!!
I'm pretty sure Steve Greenberg was the only one I didn't get to meet.
@Albertan1956 I had a laser disc of Windham Hill artist, and Shadowfax was one of them and fell in love with their piano player, and I think his name is George Cantu, I'm trying to find that song he played on that release. Was that his name?
@maninthestandswithth Shadowfax is gandalfs horse... He was making an analogy to Lord of the rings. Rap fast like his horse is fast '-'

Saw Shadowfax many times at Ella Garu's in Knoxville. They were a great group, very distinctive sound.

This is not live at Red Rocks. I was their lighting director on the '86 tour and I was at Red Rocks with them. This is not it.

the beginning sounds like La Villa Strangiato from Rush!
Sounds good to me...

Can anyone tell me of earlier Shadow fax, like from the 70's? I found a cassette tape about 30 years ago. Some of the coolest music on the planet.

I love Phil Magninni's fretless bass.I think he is using a Yamaha BB series fretless bass here

@oldschoolbbass I wonder how he got that tone? It sound just like the original from the 1976 studio recording.

@oldschoolbbass yes it is. I have a Yamaha BB F and it's fantastic! It sounds perfectly with a little compression.
