Now that we're down to 3 giant public companies owning TV stations, that expect their revenues and stocks to go up every quarter, they can only afford hits. Their execs want to control the creativity of the show, not let the creators do their own thing. Hence, boring, committee written shows now.

Haha I remember this show from my childhood. It definitely explains a lot about my generation, growing up with things like this and Ren & Stimpy. To think, things like that crazy show Chowder are what kids these days are being fed; at least Bump In The Night has substance! It's really too bad it's gone now. Does anybody know why? It's a shame they don't make bizarre nihilistic shows for kids like this anymore (that I'm aware of). The networks coddle kids way too much now, not to mention how dumbed-down a lot of modern kid shows are. I believe children are capable of appreciating depth of narrative and character, and even if they can't critically unpack it like an adult, I think kids develop a certain wisdom from a show with a degree of morbid cynicism.
