  • I loved this movie. The reasons why I think I love it so much because, I love the book, I really like Chloe (Kick Ass is one of my favorite movies ever), I love Asa (I first saw him in Nanny McPhee returns, and although that movie was really bad I said to myself "Hopefully he becomes a star" because he was a really good actor.) and I love Martin Scorsese films.

  • This may sound shallow, and probably is, but I find her boobs to be bodacious. =)

  • @climzadrow7 yes the movie takes a while to unfold, you can't watch this movie and expect something to happen right away. The movie is a masterpiece in itself so you need to watch it as if it's a painting, you need to imagine yourself there which may be why it dosnt switch scenes too quickly, love this movie!!

  • Grace you're hot

  • nice boobs

  • Great movie!!! happy to see it win some awards last night! ~Super Laundry Bag (Super Hero For The Arts) :)

  • im sorry but she cant pronounce scrosese right ANOYING

  • the movie felt like 4 hours. seriously this movie shoudnt be tht long. but still as good as tintin. means a materpiece

  • harry potter is better . harry potter should have replaced all the hugo spots at the academy .

  • i found this movie very slow

  • chicks hot. I'm ntew to making mvoein reviews on my tube., can you please look at my reviews and give me some advice on whether they r gud or bud?

  • this movie isent even shown in non 3D in the Netherlands and for good reason

  • this girls annoying and her reviews are shit. check out my reviews they are much better (and less as annoying as this girl)

  • FRODO EYE

  • Hugo is so overrated, it drives me insane. its an okay movie but that's it. and 3d in general just doesn't work.

Scorsese doesn't know how to pace a proper kids film, and he's no good at directing humor, plus the story is so unfocused its just like wow.

you want to a real masterpiece thats also a good kids movie, go watch almost anything from pixar.

  • @MatthewGz

I agree with you and haven't even seen the film nor do I intend to.

  • @BoxyTheSpaceDog

do you like follow me around or something? i swear ever time i comment on a page your the one who reply, not that i mind, but its just seem like too big of a coincidence.

to me the only thing that brings true immersion into a film, asides for story, character, and plot, is IMAX. that's the future.

i swear if Hugo wins best picture, somebody will die.

  • @MatthewGz

First of all you are the only one of my friends that discusses films on certain videos.Secondly your activity can be see on main Tube page as you can see mine as well.

I don't follow you up but since I don't have certain topic to cover I do follow peoples activities out of sheer interest, nothing more.

That's why this new activity system has been created. So that people with similar interests might discuss the topics and share videos/comment etc...

  • @BoxyTheSpaceDog

alright, alright, that makes sense to me.

so i don't know why you don't intend to see this film, don't you like Scorsese or interested in what he makes, even if its not that good anymore.

  • @MatthewGz

No,I like his other films but it's just too childish and I dislike the cast.Chloe looks like a nerd,Asa looks like a girl,I utterly dislike Sacha Cohen.I know it's going for what,11 Oscar nominations and I know that move is just a farse, driven by some lobbyists in "HollowWood".Every year Oscars have less and less credibility in movie selection(if compared to European Awards:Cannes,Berlin etc).I saw LTROI's director new Cold War era spy film, not bad(realistic)but boring.

  • @BoxyTheSpaceDog

your pretty much right cause ive seen it. and i do agree with you that Oscars are losing creditably each year, i mean have you seen the show? it has no class its like a freakin MTV show, with everyone making stupid jokes trying to get you to laugh, its childish.

    no sense of prestige.

I wanted to see TTSS but haven't got the chance, and plus i heard it was boring from others so that got my hopes down. how did you like dragon tattoo? i know you have strong opinions on remakes.

  • @MatthewGz

I'll send you a PM on those :-)

  • @BoxyTheSpaceDog dude dont be a hater you know that the movie looked awesome and deserves most of those oscar nominations

  • @vincentjanse

Hater, you just got me there.I am hater if I disagree with overrated piece of crap?C'mon I have seen this year 2011/12 much better films than this, like for example:The Hunter,Melancholia,We Need To Talk About Kevin,My Week With Marilyn,Martha Macy May Marlene that virtually destroy the competition by awards and recognition they are getting Worldwide.Oscars have become like World beauty contests, rigged to the bone!Holds zero credibility if compared to other festivals.

  • @MatthewGz I totally agree with you, another masterpiece for kids : "A cat in paris"

  • I had no interest in even seeing this until I read it was a Scorcese film. I saw it , and absolutely loved it. Like some people have said, it's a love letter to cinema that every film buff can appreciate. The average filmgoers may not care that this film pays respect to a very inspiring individual in the cinematic universe, but you would have to hate movies to hate Hugo.

  • That nerdy guy must have read the movie review cliche dictionary

  • What that guy means is he wants to fuck Chloe Moretz, let's not beat around the bush.

  • I just rented HUGO and it looked nice; the story is good from start to end but if your not a fan of classic film and movie making you want understand the point to the (over all plot) ,but the sets, the characters and that freaky looking robot toy thing are pretty cool.

  • the trailer wasnt bad i acutally wanted to see the movie because of it

  • Nearly A Masterpiece. Hugo was more then a adaptation, its a salute. George Millies is one of my favorite directors. Making one of my favorite movies. A trip to the moon. Don't ignore this one.

  • 2:09 this guy reminds me of the "my mom is dad" guy from tosh.0

  • This movie was really great. I went to see it today and was very impressed.

  • I Loved the book when I read it a few years ago--sure I'll love the movie

  • I love the 3D in this film.

  • This movie has the best use of 3D I've seem. It also has a terrific cast and script.

  • I totally see why Scorcese wanted this film. After watching it I realized it's a giant homage to the history of film especially in the second half. This movie was absolutely mezmerizing, the cinematography was so beautiful and Hugo is actually one of the only movies out there that USES 3d. I know alot of movies HAVE 3d. but Hugo actually had beautiful shots in 3d. I recommend this movie to just about anyone.

  • It comes out January 12th in my neck of the woods and I can't wait

  • OMFG OMFG OMFG ENDERS GAME IS COMING TO THEATERS?????????????????????????????????????????

One of my favorite books of all time, and definitely a great series. I have no clue how they could adapt it... but I can't wait! As SOON as the trailer comes out I want to know lol

  • I give it a 9 because I didn't totally understand the dream sequence. The first dream is a foreshadow but the second dream I don't understand at all.

  • @biguy617 Self-referential. He feels like a clustered machine in desperate need of life advice. But you gotta think on that one, so I see the confusion.

  • I thought the movie was awesome. The boy looks like the next Eliajh Wood. The girl was great too. Ben Kingley was awesome. Great to see CHristopher Lee and Jude Law too. I don't recongize anoy of the other actors.

  • 3D is so annoying if you already wear glasses.

  • @AwesomeVideos40 yes but still ...this 3-d it works

  • sounds great, Go Martin Scorsese (the best man).

  • this was an incredible movie. im calling it, best director. martys direction is incredible. its some of the best direction for a movie ive ever seen. marty really knows how to make a good family friendly movie. i hope he does more. hollywood needs more high quality family movies like this. marty, i love you, and i wish you well with your next film.

    Sincerely yours,

    a big fan :)

  • Tie at a movie theater? Genius.

  • The tall guy with glasses was right on the money

  • are you using lenses? you are blinking a lot ;) love u as always

  • I could never imagine this kid playing Ender.

  • okay, i'll watch it. I like the vibe it has.

  • @MrJaffa2015 3d is awesome

  • Oh wow they're making an Ender's game movie?? I hope they don't screw it up...

  • The guy who said Tree of Life is his favorite movie of the year, and Hugo is his second, makes me nervous to see Hugo. After all, Tree of Life put abstract symbolism over entertainment value.

  • I have a feeling this film will be a classic. I hope I get the chance to see it in a theater. But, if not, I will definitely get the Blu-ray. Thank you Grace.

  • 3:26 wanna be movie snob

  • Chloe Mortez fan. Thumbs up.

  • @Gaston088able because i want to know the review of the fucking movie.

  • @mariano26788 1+1 = 2 RIGHT??? DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER "BIG REVELATION" TO TELLME ABOUT???

  • @mariano26788 OH REALLY? DONT PRETEND TO BE SMART WITH ME IDIOT!...I SAY IT AGAIN: THE PHOTOGRAPHY IS GREAT, DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT? AND ALSO THE USE OF LIGHT AND COLOURS IN THE FILM ARE GREAT ALSO, ANOTHER GOOD THING THAT IS TRADE MARK FROM SOCRSESE IS THE CAMARE MOVES...I KNOW THAT IS CALL IT "CINEMATOGRAPHY"! I JUST WAS PAY ATTENTION TO THE GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY BY BOB RICHARSON!...I DONT NEED A FUCKING IDIOT LIKE YOU TELLME ABOUT FILMAKING! I CANT TALK ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE FILM?

  • @Gaston088able

LOL. You fucking coward. You won't reply to my new messages about cinematography, but you'll come here, picking fights with random people?? Why? Because, once again, you don't like what they have to say about your precious Martin Scorsese and his "wonderful" cinematography?

Btw, it's good cinematography, but the way Marty uses it is OLD FASHION.

  • @LukeLovesRose shhhh stop makeing noice!....HE GUYSSS THIS IS THE IDIOT WHO SAYS CAMERON I THE MODERN KUBRICK AND THAT CITIZEN KANEAND CASABLANCA ARE OVERRATED!.....POOR FANBOY!...JAJAJAJ!

  • Martin Scorsese. Pronounced, [Mahr-Ten Score-Say-Zee]

  • Asa wasn't cast in Ender's Game... it's not final...

  • @KittyCats725 I don't think this actor can fit the role of Ender in Enders game.

  • @amadshadow He can, actually.

  • @KittyCats725 I don't see him playing in the role when Ender Becomes a commander and the final "simulation"battles.

  • @amadshadow Yes, but Asa's an extraordinary actor and there's no doubt he's going to pull it off.

  • @KittyCats725 Uhhh..I don't know about that since Ender his persona throughout the book.

  • @amadshadow Didn't really understand that. Anyway, enough spamming the video. Asa's going to be awesome as Ender. You should trust the filmmakers.

  • I'm actually dying to see this fiim

  • its actually a really good 3d movie...

  • In this one she has nice breasts

  • you say scorsese strange

  • Love your work, but your inability to pronounce non english words is becoming legendary.

  • LOVE YOUR SHIRT!

  • He has a little crush on "Chloe Moray"? dumb shit

  • At 3:50 there's a blind man in the back. Do blind people watch movies?!

  • @disneylandx123 look "Rosso come il cielo"

  • @disneylandx123 Technically no but they still go to listen to them. I had a friend who's cousin was blind and they went to see the movie with them. They have special devices that describe the scenes and characters.

  • @TECfan1 Yea they have that for DVDs now.

  • @disneylandx123 Maybe he got lost:)

  • @disneylandx123 Maybe not "The Artist".

  • I love Scorsese but i'm not watching this because i hate family movies there so boring :)

  • @kRrUiLsEtSn Hugo is not a "family film" in any traditional sense. As one of the interviewees mentioned, it is stylistically comparable to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amélie. It bears no resemblance to most family films out at this time.

  • is she even with indy mogal anymore? i unsubscribed from indy a long time ago, but she was the only show worth keeping. great choice, she is a pleasure to watch and her movie reviews are always spot on.

  • ENDERS GAME?! NO WAI

  • Awesome review Grace! But I've gotta know - how do you keep your hair looking so awesome all the time?

  • Please Grace go to a theather near you and review pokemon the movie white, LOL pls! it comes out only on december 3rd and 4th =)

  • I glad you did a review on this movie. This is one movie I'm interested in seeing.

  • what did you mean at the very beginning... oh, I get it :P

  • Yeah the trailer ddnt catch my attention at all. Probably will watch this at home

  • When I was in 3rd grade, we read "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" in class. I loved the book. When I saw the trailer, I knew it was for that book right when he looked through the 4. I immediately wanted to see the movie. In the end, I liked the movie. It was slow but I still loved it. I would of given the movie a 9.

  • Im looking foward to seeing this! Great review!

  • When will people get it, 3D isn't about object poking in your eyes, its about debt.... watching true a window....

  • @maxvandewiele *depth? *through?

  • @maxvandewiele I don't wanna be in debt....

  • I was the woman (the one with grey hair) in the reviews. Two things that I commented on (and none of the other reviewers did) are the accuracy of the enchanting settings, costumes, hair and mannerisms of the time portrayed, the 30s,, and the significance of World War I, called "the war to end all wars." Even then, the war's aftermath influenced characters in the film. That added substance to some and gave answers for the behavior of others, without diminishing the film's excitement and appeal.

  • I love George Melies.

  • Oh, I thought that Stanley Tucci was the station inspector.

  • Directors like Scorsese and Tarantino don't need the gimmick or crutch of 3D, because they're effective a storytellers. 3D is meant to distract the audience from noticing just how piss poor the writing and directing truly are.

  • I read the book and found it stilted and somewhat lacking. I do intend on seeing this though, I love Chloe Moretz and Sacha Baron Cohen.

  • The thing with 3-D is that you forget about it 10 minuets in. Its a annoying gimmick .

  • I'm home for just 2 more days...I may see Hugo if I have time what with Thanksgiving and all.

  • Grace, what do you think is better? 3-D or 2-D?

  • @mariano26788 IT IS THE PHOTOGRAPY FUCKIN G IDIOT!!!...IT IS THE BEST LOOKING FILM IN RECENT YEARS!!! SO....GREAT CINEMATOGRAPHY IS IN HUGO!!!! DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT???

  • I'd never heard of this movie before this but it looks right up my ally. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

  • Does the dude with the combover have his own channel? He should do his own reviews :D

  • At 3:53, whaT is that blind guy on a do at the movies.

  • He actually told something about his wife telling him to make movies that his kids(or grandchildren) can see.

  • @mariano26788 And he also has no idea what good films are.... it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

  • I HATE the way you say Scorsese. Ahhh. Stop it.

  • @oneeyedgeek It was shot with the same 3D Cameras as Avatar & Pirates 4.

  • @1funnybloke IN PART YES!!!...BUT IN HUGO THEY ALSO USE NEW CAMERAS SISTEMS!!!!(BETTER ONES)

  • @1funnybloke Thanks

  • im not sure how i feel about the border with the opening clip. could be a tad more subtle. just my thoughts. great review as always!

  • Was this shot in 3D or shot in 2D and converted to 3D? I don't remember the first trailer saying anything about it being in 3D. Either way, I'll be watching it in 2D.

  • @oneeyedgeek IT IS SHOTED IN 3-D!!!...AND SPECIALLIST INCLUDING JAMES CAMERON SAYS IT IS THE BEST 3-D MADE SO FAR!!!!!.....

  • @Gaston088able Geez, calm down. I was just wondering. And I don't care what anyone else says, 3D sucks and I wish it would go away.

  • Comment removed

  • awesome review

  • He mentioned Amélie. I saw that for the first time yesterday!

  • After countless bad experiences with 3D at the cinema, I'm certainly going to see this one in 2D. The real 3D experience is at the Imax. Once you go to see a 3D film in Imax, there's no going back to 3D cinema.

  • @aidenmccloskey DONT DO THAT!!!! THIS IS MAYBE THE ONLY TRUE FILM THAT YOU MUST WATCH IN 3-D....IT IS THE BEST 3-D PHOTOGRAPY EVER MADE!

  • Scorsese is nothing short of a genius. He's directed and created countless masterpieces. He's one of my favourite directors alongside Tim Burton.

  • That was the little boy from The Omen. I love The Omen.

  • @YellowPsych ironically no he isn't. I thought so too :)

  • @TheRdisney020 Oh I got him confused. I recognised him from the boy with the striped pajamas. They kind of look alike.

  • I love your smile in the screen cap

  • Curiously enough I think this is one of those times that a movie is waay better than a crappy trailer. 90% of the time it's the other way around.

  • I've never even heard of this film before but I kind of want to go see it now. It sounds interesting.

  • Grace, you are gorgeous. Also, I'm definitely going to see this movie. Hopefully this weekend.

  • 2:49 that guy doesn't watch many movies

  • how was it surprisingly good? its martin scrosese for gods sake, but i guess this is new to him?

  • I'm a tad confused, you didn't do Movie Math for last week's box office? Are you just incorporated these releases into one overall Movie Math, Grace?

  • VIDEO ADS ARE IRRITATING

  • I cried like 3 times

  • I heard this movie was greattt in 3D ,though....Like YOU need to see it in 3D...I want to see it so bad ;-;

  • I like how Grace says 3D

  • I thought Hugo was gonna be a kiddie/family movie but from these reviews, it sounds really good.

  • Sasha baron Cohen? In a FAMILY movie? What has this world come to!!!!!???!???!??

  • @dandelionjones7 MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!

  • the kid looked like the kid in the movie the boy in the stripped pajamas... prolly is the same kid, but that kid is awesome

  • I won't pay extra money for 3d ......but i will pay my Kidney for One Date with Grace

  • i always come here when a movie comes out to see the review! it helps me decide if I should go to the movie or not! thanks Grace!

  • This actually seems fun. Not sure about Sacha Baron Cohen as a antagonist in a children's movie, but it looks fun regardless.

I'm also liking the BTT boarder in the trailer segment of the review too. :)

  • hey grace u got nice body ;)

  • The dude with the comb-over really knew his shit. I enjoyed his analysis.

  • @burgerboot yea really love it when people like that get reviewed by grace

  • @burgerboot agreed, but the way he spoke was annoying :P

  • greattt

  • I am not the number of death

  • This movie looks so awesome! I can't wait to see it and read the book! The book is very unique! :)

  • GREAT review Grace, Just like always. :D
