  • As for me, I grew up watching Hee Haw every week and have always enjoyed the musical genre of Bluegrass. This was fun to watch and enjoy.

    Perry

  • Strength in Numbers, finally I get to see the PBS performance again. I think the first time I saw them on the PBS special "Lonesome Pine Special"...I know they appeared on Austin City Limits too, and would love to get my hands on both shows.

Thanks for posting this, it really gives me a taste of home.

  • @Ironclad35 Lonesome Pine special and Strength in Number

    /watch?v=ScjHCHAEefk

  • its pretty hard to look badass playin mandolin but he nails it :p

  • sam bush is "chick corea stuck in uncle dave macon's body"

  • That curly hair is part of his personality...who cares dude- listen to the music! The man feels the music in every part of his soul!

  • jebenooo

  • The most relevant bluegrass bass solo I've ever heard!

  • The Toto of Bluegrass

  • That dude with the mullet and the stone-washed jeans should look into decaf. And from 1:33 til about 1:40 Fleck is a dead ringer for Trevor Rabin.

  • not to mention Bela Fleck is the GOD of the banjo, no one does it better

  • 80's bluegrass mullets...

  • rickrudd has it pegged! Sam Bush invented "newgrass" music and should be shown the respect that he truly deserves.

  • The guy on mandolin is Sam Bush. He's the MAN! Respect.

  • "The guy in the middle with the mandolin" is SAM BUSH bitch!!!!!!!! Yes he does rock

  • Great tune, sweet bass solo. It's cool to see a young Bela Fleck (pre-Flecktones) jammin on the banjo and there is something hilarious about the guy in the middle rocking out so hard with the mandolin.

  • With a mullet no less.

  • This video is 20 years old. Wow.

  • Yeah and to think there is still no one who can top these guys. Just think of the talent here! There were, and still are, very far ahead of their time.

  • frikin all-stars

  • The bass solo is amazing !

    And the cover grooves

  • tololochi solo ;)

  • like it

  • Fucking wicked. Cool stuff man!

  • fking bass solo!!!!!!

  • haha yeah the guy on bass looks at him like what the f#ck, now look me in the eyes when your doing that. Still Sweet!

  • I'm so glad to find this clip! This is my favorite SIN song. Anybody know where I could find the whole concert?

  • I'm so liking this song...I am a music lover!

  • sick

  • Sam and Edgar's dance moves are so seductive . . . oh baby

  • Edgar is a very physical bass player. He dances with it.

  • < in awe

  • Legendary. This song was played greatly. Amazing.

  • The double bass solo is amazing!!!

  • Heyyy ! Come by and hang out at Zero1 TV ! Subscribe to us , send a quick message or friend invite and we'll subscribe back to you !!! Happy Holidays !!!!!!!

  • yeah lapsteeellll !!!!!!

  • tengo los pelos de punta...

una pasada la mandolina...y de la guitarra...y el contrabajo...y el banjo...

    muy bueno,si señor!

  • Bass solo! As always, Bela and Sam tearing it up.

  • jaul dont you ever say Sam Bush should be rocking out to ozzie or AC/DC he is four times better than angus young...yuck

  • Okay... You must be a total troll. First of all Sam Bush is arguably the best mandolin player of all time. yes, he rocks more than your average bluegrass picker - that is his appeal. Secondly, it's a bass, not a cello.

Finally, it's spelled 'douche' and I think that term is much more applicable to Coldplay, Elliot Yamin, and Nicleback - all of whom are listen on your favorites.

I am sure you are a nice guy, but you should check out Sam Bush before flaming him in such a disrespectful way.

  • rickrudd.......i love you

  • the guy on the mandolin is crazy

  • Bela Fleck looks like Harry Enfield in this haha.

  • This is sooooo amazing. I didn't even know it existed. I ordered the CD pronto!

  • that guy in the middle with crazy hair and a mini guitar is waaaay ahead of his time... he should be rocking to AC-DC or Ozzie or Rob Zombie hehe... he's great.

  • haha.. that "mini-guitar" is a mandolin but haha ur right! xD

  • ahead of his time? This was in 89....

  • @ 2:30 it's Sam Bush playing mandolin

there will never be a band like them again. the talent was unmatched

  • Who knows ?

  • haha love it

  • whats the instrument that the guy has on 2:30?

  • It is a mandolin

  • Strength in Numbers was so hot! Thanks for posting!!! I can't believe that they only made one CD though! (Thank God I have that!) Oh, one more thing you should know: Bela turns "50" on 10 July'08! If you want to send him a B-day card...here's the address: David Bendett Artists, Inc., 2431 Briarcrest Rd., Beverly Hills, CA 90210. (This is Bela's Manager and he will see that he gets it) Thanks!

  • I do not think im that organized - u rock - bela did a cool workshop in t ride in the dark ages when i was too young too drink and didnt care.....

  • haha, the bass player =) he's humping the bass

  • this band may be a bluegrass band but this is jazz.

  • bassist has mad chops

  • amazon(dot)com/Music-Two-Bonus-Bela-Fleck/dp/B0001XAMS6

  • Awesome!!! =)

  • that mandolin player is all about it

  • banjo... Bela Fleck.

  • Bela is great however he has nothing on Alison Brown. When you get to these boys level there is really no one better they all developed into their own style which is what a musician strives for better is really not the right word we are hung on that. Music is not a sport its an art form, listen enjoy and learn. Happy picking if your not a picker enjoy the all the great sounds.

This music of these lads will be studied some time like the greats in the past.

  • i wonder about the fashion of 80's :D ugly!

and i wonder about the music of 80's :D amazing!!

  • at 1 22 i noticed that the cello guy was humping his instrument...so i turned it off! :P

  • Cello Guy? Are you referring to the amazing abilities of Edgar Meyer. Umm... who happens to be a bassist.

  • oh wow hill billy get away music :D

  • ur an idiot!! theres nothing hillbilly about that song. people like you ruin the new sound of blue/newgrass asshole!

    anyways.....how bout bela flecks sweater!!

  • umm mate its called a joke and if you seriously got peed off over that then your retarded

  • I love the way Sam Bush moves around, he's getting into it. It just looks silly when the rest of his band stands still, but these guys move enough where it doesn't.

  • the reason everyone else stands still is because they're actually PLAYING their instrument. Sam bush has done nothing impressive in anything I've heard or seen him do. He's really good at making that "chick" sound though...

  • The way Sam Bush plays the mandolin really bugs me, he moves around way too much, but he's still really good at it. Bela Fleck is probably the best banjo player ever. Yeah, I would even go as far as say he's better than Earl.

  • JERRAYYY SAMMAYYYY EDGARRRRR MARKAYYYYY and. BELLAAAAA

  • GOD DAMN PANTERA WHISKEY

  • WHAT!? ROADSAW TO THE KNEE CAPS.

  • Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush are 2 of my favorite musicians. They can take their instruments and play anything from hard driving bluegrass to country all the way to rock. And blend it all in and create things. Very rare in music.

  • Prog celtico country amazing song !

    In love.

  • haha love it

  • Sam pointed out one part of the song that sounds like the word cookie. I don't know the rest of the story.

  • John Wayne's reffered to as the duke as mentioned before...

  • :Pthis is funny music...

  • I know, I saved it for that very reason. I get a little giggle out of me when I hear it, haha

  • Is Sammy Making Love to his mando??

  • Does anyone know the story of Duke and Cookie...they have alluded to the story being about John Wayne???

  • Good evening music lovers! How many of you have been at the festival all four days?

  • I've got this whole show on vid, watched it a hundred times. Still amazes me!

  • Where can I get a copy? Money waiting!

  • Extremely skillfull all of them.

  • Thank you trfrasier for posting !

This band has had quite an influence on many musicians
