  • Is actually safer. Think about it, does current travel better through copper wire or steel frame? If you put a fuse on your power there is nothing dangerous about it. Is common knowledge in the professional audio world. Zero gauge your front battery to frame and altinators to frame and that will help car voltage as well. Just make sure to zero positive to battery. But I recommend dual runs of zero for system positive and ground. But what do I know, I'm only a pro.

  • @Rockfordcole that may be a minuscule amount of power to add for how dangerous it can be.

  • Do you not need to put a fuse between each battery and what is the breaker used for?

  • @bgfx3 The breaker is like a reusable fuse. Every time a fuse pops you need a new one. With a breaker, you just flip the switch. thanks for watching!

  • well i know for my bronco tht a alt running 140 amps would cost 185. and i was just sayin cuz i didnt know u got batt for free.. then what u did was cheaper but im gonna run a type-r 15" and 750 rms rockford amp and a cap plus new alt.

  • @xXengineerfreakXx that sounds great. dont get the cap though.

  • how much did the spool of 0 gauge cost?

  • @Purplemotoman pretty sure it says rockford fosgate

  • Can you tell me the name of the circuit breaker. It's too blurry to read.

  • Ok was gonna say u sound like seth rogen but I got beat to it lol! everyone spelled his name wrong lmao!

  • run it throw stearing colum hole in the fire wall alot easier

  • Hey i got a question, is that a Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee? I was wandering because i did setup in my wife's Cherokee but i ran it through the driver's side firewall n along the driver's side to the back. I also installed a second battery in the rear to boost up the amps more but they r both Juice boxes. Should i take the one batt n back out n replace it with a drycell or keep what i have?

  • @trainmanjosair good question. so far what I've found is that a yellow top or red top battery. those seem to have pretty good power for what they cost (200ish)

  • @tylercall358 if you need to kno a red top is an engine battery and a yellow top is for excessories / car audio and the blue top is a marine battery all batteries can do the job for car audio except the acid but dry cells are mostly used for car audio

  • ijw, you hooked up a batt to a batt? if you were to do tht why didnt you just run a cap, an upgrade your alternator? all tht would equal up to around 140 bucks, almost same cost as getting the breaker an extra batt.

  • @xXengineerfreakXx never get a cap. its a waste of money and doesnt do shit for you. a new alt for me would cost about 5-600 (for a good one) and this second battery was free from a friend so I decided to do this as a weekend job

  • were u get the wire from. Wat kind is it

  • Nice I have two P3's and I love them. Would you recommend getting a second battery?

  • @SenorDennis I got much better responsiveness from my sub and it was even a little louder so yes, get a second battery. Its worth the pain in the ass to set up.

  • whered u get that blue 0 guage cable from ??? and the breakers n splitters ??

  • i must have that circuit breaker!!!! i cant find a 250 amp too fit 0 gauge!

  • @2sv15039 you got to have a ANL FUSE ... I got mobilespec.

  • An interesting idea. Did you find that this accomplished the task of providing more current for peripheral devices? I would have thought the alternator would be the main actor for this kind of problem. Did you upgrade the alternator?

  • @spelunkerd A new alt for most cars would help but my jeep has a 170A alt and that's pretty big already. The second battery made a huge difference to my sound system and any other add-ons.

  • did you need to upgrade your alternator???

  • I thought u were suppose to ground the battery and amp separate

  • @Falconpunch614 if its all grounded to the body of the car, whats the difference?

  • @tylercall358 so when i run 2 batteries i can ground the rear one to the chassis? (yes the big3 i did grounded my front to chassis) and i see your using the red top would you reccomend the red top over a yellow top or kinetik? (my rear bat is a kinetik hc2000)

    thanks and amazing video

  • do i need a circuit breaker for my second battery? or what would i need just 0 gauge wire?

  • So the blue 0 guage is the ground for the battery and the brown wire into the spliter is the amp ground?

  • Comment removed

  • so all you do is connect positive to positive and ground it and the alternator will charge both batteries?? and why would you lose info on your headunit if you dont have the circut breaker??

  • @dskater153 yes, positive to positive and ground to the car (dont connect them).

  • what does the 2nd battery do?? like what is the point?? and would you still need a cap??

  • @dskater153 a second battery doubles the amount of power that can be drawn for your system or any other type of accessory that you might want to add to your ride. I have a ton of extra lights, speakers and a big head unit so the power I need would put too much stress on just one battery. Never use a capacitor. Its a waste of money for any situation. Thanks for watching and PM me if you have any other questions!

  • Holy shit son. WTF size speakers do you have in your A pillars??? LMAO. Nice.

  • @PARTYMARTYFTW 5.25" Rockford Fosgate Power Series

  • @PARTYMARTYFTW I know right!!!

  • lol this guys halarious, so yea lets go outside an- .... wow thats alot of leafs haha

  • @xXchevymuscleXx thanks man! I appreciate it!

  • @tylercall358 haha where did u get that circuit breaker?

  • @xXchevymuscleXx at my local shop

  • hey what kind of breaker is that and is it good to have instead of a fuse?

  • Can you zoom out so we can see where the heck your pointing at lol.

  • I love it. I will worn you about loose wiring chaffing. With the gauge wire you used, if it chaffs at any point. The wire is so large that it will not burn in two if shorted. You should have another circuit breaker at the rear battery for safety. That way neither battery can be shorted out to the body. And a battery isolator will let you charge both batteries without running both batteries down when the jeep is not running if you wish to run the system without running the jeep.

  • @johnnnyreb51 Yep... what he said!!!

  • is it not gonna interfer wire da wire being a 4 gauge frm da amp to da cell battery and out da cell battery to da car battery being da 0 gauge??

  • are you Seth Rogan?

  • @ woodypak - your a retard. Sweet system and ok vid.

  • So you left in the original battery and just put a + wire from the original to the + terminal on the new one and then the grnd wire from the new to the body? Does that not give your car 14v X2? surely if so all the electic bulbs etc would blow from 26v??? Please help me to understand because I'm thinking about putting 3 Alpine R 15's in my car and I know i'll need 2 or 3 batts. Thanks, Tom.

  • @woodypk Yes, your correct on how to set it up. On average my voltmeter reads in the mid to high 13's. Nothing has blown from the extra battery which has been amazing to me so far. Thanks for watching!

  • @tylercall358 if you wire the positives together, and ground the negatives, you dont add the voltage because the current isnt flowing through one batt and then through the second batt, it increases the current so you dont get the voltage sag at full power.

If it was wired: positive->negative->positive->negative, then you would get double the voltage, but still the same maximum current from just one battery alone.

  • @woodypk Hey Woody... nice math!!! 12 v batteries, and you conclude that "14x2=26" Lol. (public school huh?)

Here is a better set-up... get a CONSTANT DUTY solenoid... 200 amp, link the trigger so when running... you have 2 batteries, when shut down... 1 is isolated. (so you can start car again.)

For your Alpines or other boosted stereo needs... either a Yellow Top, a marine Blue Top, or an Odyssey 1200 will be fine.

  • Respond to this video... Tyler... here is a better idea... rather than all your in and outs and under trim crap....

From the engine bay... insert your batt cable into 5/8th heater hose... then drop it down under car... use conduit clamps (Home Depot) and run it along frame rail or follow gas line. Drill back up into trunk or where ever your gear is... and then connect nice and pretty. The heater hose protects from scuffing/temperature/weather/elements and attention.

  • you should add a solenoid in line with your power wire to the back of the car switched on ignition power.... so basically only when you turn the vehicle on will the two batteries actually be connected... i suggest this only because if one battery goes bad it will deplete the other one... at least with a solenoid they will only be connected when the engine is running so at least the alternator could help you out.

  • @RobHoffmann20 its worked very flawlessly for about a year now but thanks for the suggestion.

  • @tylercall358 No problem. when i finish up my my system build and add the second battery i think ill throw a solenoid in there. have a look at my channel if you get time

  • @RobHoffmann20 its worked very flawlessly for about a year now but thanks for the suggestion.

  • @RobHoffmann20 its worked very flawlessly for about a year now but thanks for the suggestion.

  • @tylercall358 When your main or the aux batt nears it's 5 - 6 year life cycle, that's when this advice will start to make sense. If you lose two batts instead of just the one, unless they are of close age in which case the advice is silly. Nice setup and nice video. Lots of luck with your setup.

  • with the second battery was it any tricky wiring that u had to do? or is it just str8 postive to postive and ground to car?

  • @MrTodd405 its all stright forward. all the tricky wiring is done to the first battery so the second one is just positive to positive and negitive to car (no more than 18 inches)

  • You do sound like Seth rogan lol

  • You need a isolator so it wont drain your battery but nice setup I had a jeep just like that was nice didn't rattle but was a pain you run my wires I ran kicker #0 gauge same way spot you did. I ran a kicker kx1200.1 and four kenwood 12's with mb quart components. And a 200 amp alternator.

  • i have two of those kenwood 1800 amps. each on a power acoustik mofox122. they give me all i need

  • can you post a video or send pictures of it going throught the a

firewall with more detail. having a bit of a struggle with that on my 01 gc. thank ya

  • @dimebagshreds its a tricky thing to do. Like you saw in this video, I didnt go through my firewall, I went through the body of the Jeep and its worked just fine for this past year. Some cars dont have any good point to go through so you have to get creative. Just dont go under the car. I did that to my first car and hit a bump and had the power wire dragging for like a day before I found out.

  • i installed a curcit breaker like yours, but someone told me i dont need the other fuse since i put a breaker, is that true?

  • @alex713m the more fuses/circuit breakers you have the better. its all there to protect your system from bad shit.

  • You sound like Seth Rogan.

  • @jamesness95 thats what i was thinking two hahahahha

  • what about the ground from on the fount battery its tiny

  • lol @ leafs

  • What brand of 0 gauge wire is that??

  • @MvKxAmBiTiOnZz DBlink brand wire

  • you got it brother and thanks for the post

  • i'll be doing some work on my jeep grand cherokee too. it's good to know that the 0 gage will have to run under the cpt instead of the floor boards.

  • @ryuhyubusa Im glad I could help. send me a picture when your done! thanks for watching

  • is it possible to hav two different types of batteries hooked up?

  • another question man. On the spliter kicker its for the ground of course. but is it not like having it hooked to it (ground) same place? like u cant have the amp and the battery gorund on the same spot is it not like not like that? since its comin it from same spot

  • @m3no1000 I have my battery and amp grounded to essentially the same place. As long as you can find a good strong clean tight ground then its fine to have the same ground for those two things. the only down side is that its not as easy to isolate problems and if something shorts, you better pray that your fuse or circuit breaker helps control that problem.

  • nice setup.. but on the second batt on the postive one wire is the 0 guage and the one going to your amp is not? is that going ti interfer with wit because its not the same gauge?

  • @m3no1000 your right. its not the best to have a 0 gauge wire from battery to battery and then have a 4 gauge to the amp. its ideal to have all the same gauge wire but think of it this way. if the second battery in the back was the only battery, it would be the same as only running 4 gauge from my battery to amp. good thinking though!

  • did u have to change your alternator??or anythng to do with relays or switches for charging the other battery?

  • @taimana786 my jeep has a really good factory alt. (170A) so I didnt change the alt but for cars with smaller alts you'll want to change it. no extra switches or relays were used in my second battery setup but if you want to know how to set that up, I have a video about how to wire a relay

  • @tylercall358 alright thanks man...i think iv got to change my alt but i dont think il find sumthn bigger..are u using a deep cycle sound battery or just another normal car battery?will check out ur other videos :)..im jus got a 2.0 farad capacitor for a 5800watt monoblock do u thnk it will need more power??

  • @taimana786 I think its a deep cycle battery in the back. a word of advice to the wise, get rid of the capacitor. they're nothing but trouble.

  • nice i hoping of getting another battery too but i used to have that amp i have it in a old video i had its a badass amp

  • where did you get all that 0 gauge

  • @pmart121 I got it on Amazon. It was shipped really quick and very easy to order

  • drill a whole in the fire wall. i always do it

  • Also bro I just watched it again... I noticed somthin. If you havent already, buy another breaker - or - fuse and put it 2-3 inches from you're rear battery, If you get a tare in the power wire or break that breaker will only kill the current comming from your starter, not the rear batt.. FIRE!!! ..... It's cheaper then replacing the whole car!!!

  • @davidsdaddy1121 theres a breaker from battery to battery and a fuse from the second battery to the amp. its perfectly safe the way it is.

  • @tylercall358

Just keeping my word, A little late and I got burnt on craigslist for a kinetik hc 600 so lexus 1600cca battery to the rescue to complete the install, at least for now. But here is the vid of my second batt install....

Well youtube won't let me post a link so just go to my channel... 2011 Bass heads UnItE!!!

  • looks good man..

  • wer did u get all dat 0 gauge wire from

  • where did u get the circuit breaker from

  • @bradd1016 my local shop had the circuit breaker. its an awesome buy.

  • @tylercall358 would like auto zone have it

  • @bradd1016 maybe. Im not sure

  • @tylercall358

Hey bro Fallow the advise, Ditch the spliter Keep the ground short and for god sake take that screw out and use a polt... Stainless would be the best. Nice stuff though! Keep it up!

  • @davidsdaddy1121 its an old video, much of this has changed but the splitter is working just fine (which I didnt really think it would for so long). thanks for watching!

  • @tylercall358

Lol I figured it changed, Things can change in an hour with us bass heads!

Nice stuff though for real, The only reason the spliter can hurt you is because it's another break in the line, that could possibly cause resistance..which leads to heat.. resulting in loss of power... But it's gold plated & you're runnin 0ga so i think you wont even notice :-P

    Keep the vids commin bro.

I'm adding my second battery today so i'll make a vid and post pic's

  • @tylercall358

Also did you do the Big 3 yet, If not do that too!! Makes a big improvement!!

  • Wouldnt this take more stress off your alternator? By having double the power as before? or would this put more charging stress on your alternator?

  • I would love no how you got the speakers on the piller where did u get that i have the same jeep mine is a 98 laradeo and how did u hook up you door speakers i had to run my own wire to the door and geting them thro the rubber was a pain so i did not run it thro the i went thro the door so yea o and can u put a flip out deck in thease jeeps check out my channel

  • @bigislife I'll make a video answering your questions and showing you because its easer to learn that way. thanks for watching!

  • Does your positive 4gauge go to your positive to the battery?

  • @usualyblazinkronik yes it does. positive to positive

  • i heard the best way to ground the 2nd battery is to front battery ground is that true?

  • @8320884 yes, thats a good way but as long as you secure the ground to the body of the car, you'll be fine. the ground I have is very secure in the back.

  • @8320884 no. you want your ground to be short and the best way to do that is to just make your ground next to the battery

  • LmAO dude rake ur yard.

  • i have a 92 cavalier and i have a kenitek for the 2nd battery and the main one is an interstate battery

  • @uniqueautosounds I recommend going to your local audio shop and asking them because from what I've looked up, you should only need the same setup that I have plus maybe another 1 or 2 fuse blocks/circuit breaker to regulate the power being used from battery to battery

  • i wired my battery to the same ground and my front battery did short out...but i was told to get an iscolater?? can i by-pass that or do i have to get it??

  • @uniqueautosounds no, you dont need an iscolater. I dont have one and my batteries are fine. what kind of batteries and car do you have?

  • devil dancing musick HAHA

  • @ 3:45 lmao but other than that nice seup

  • dont know much about this stuff and never done a second battery to me system but arnt you meant to use a split charge relay after the circuit breaker? i could be wrong but just a thought :)

  • @rdbackwards it works fine the way it is. you can add a relay but its just more cost and headache. I havent had any problems with mine

  • you see, the circuit breaker is an alright idea but, you run into the exact problem you have...your second battery is gonna suck power from your primary battery when it is drained. you should install an isolator instead, so your primary starting battery will always remained charged even though your second battery is drained.

  • dont you have to match your batteries like i got a kinetic 800hc running my car instead of my motor master is that ok to hook up both?

  • @iluvithaha Im not 100% sure on that. I've had it for about 3-4 months and its been working great. before me, my friend had the battery that I installed in the back hooked up to his ride for about 9 months before upgrading and giving that smaller one to me. Im sure your right in thinking they should be equal in size but why change a good thing? haha

  • is that a 200 amp breaker?

  • @RoidRage991 yep. its been awesome so far and I've had it for a few months

  • where did u get the circuit breaker from

  • @tatnard22 from my local shop - Inphase Car Audio in Omaha Ne

  • @tylercall358 do they have a website or sumthin to ship out orders? cuz i could really use 1... havent been able to find a shop that has them

  • to make it easier run the wire through your firewall thas what i did

  • @foothead35 man, I wish I could. there were no good spots to put wire that was that big and I dont want to drill. it would have been a hell of a lot easier to do that though.

  • How much for all that fricken spool of 0 guage wire? One more thing, get rid of that splitter, and make a 2nd ground for your amp. You don't HAVE to, but I severely recommend it in the case if a short happens. You'd short out both your amp and the battery the way it is now.

  • @tatsumaru12345 the wire was 100 bucks for 50 feet. As far as the splitter goes, I'm going to keep it until I get a new amp. I don't really care if it burns out the amp because its a piece of crap. The battery should be fine because of the fuse and circuit breaker I have set up but I appreciate the advice. thanks for watching!

  • @tylercall358 Had a class A/B one of those amps, did alright until the fricken fan stopped working. Sounded really good, but not so much ment for subs. I do like the little switch off up front. If your car is going to be setting around for a few days, flip the switch and both batteries will remain fine. Relay would be better, but they can get pricey.

  • so you have the 0guage wire running from your battery in front to the battery in the back? and for the battery in the front do you have to put a other fuse or is that circut breaker a fuse?

  • @9619funlife yeah thats right. the battery in front has 0 gauge running to a circuit breaker which acts as the fuse but will never need a fuse. the circuit breaker then has 0 gauge running all the way to the back. The battery in the back is grounded to the body. The 4 gauge wire from the batteryto the amp has a fuse in line
