I was one of those people who wanted to trade Bieksa but I'm extremely glad we kept him. He turned out really well and is leading our team in +/-. Not to mention since we're missing Edler, Hamhuis and Ballard it helps us out a lot.

We'll find out how much like Detroit the Canucks really are if Gillis decides it's worth trying to resign Bieksa. If we lose guys because they want the big payday, we haven't made any progress since Nonis was fired. What makes Detroit so good is that they keep their core long term and those guys are willing to stay at a reduced rate in order to make the cap situation work. Bieksa makes 3.5 now, and who knows what his value is on the open market.
