  • i have a 01 dodge neon and when i try to start it has this drilling sound and couldnt start anymore- but everything works fine- the radio , air condition-lights- is it my battery or something??i bought my battery last september 2009 - and its 2012 =- need help thanks-

  • @bulosan07 sounds like your starter

  • @CFLanJ I had the same problem. I replaced the starter. Now it seems like it wont turn over nd the battery doesn't want to charge or I can't seem to jump it at all.Do you have any ideas?

  • @smiguet make sure your cables are on securely, do oyu hear a click when you try to start it? what happens when you try to jump it?

  • @CFLanJ I ended up having to replace my black battery cable. It fired right up but it sounds like crapola and runs really rough.Any ideas?

  • I drive a 1997 Toyota Camry car and my car had a dead car battery also that made that sound. My father and I tried to jump start it and it started after. I don't usually make long trips and don't use it to go out alot. The problem could be because of not long trips that you don't make. I also know that I need a new battery cause usually batteries last only 3-5 yrs. Last time I bought my battery was about 4 yrs ago.

  • did you make sure the Flux Capacitor was running correctly?? 88MPH

  • I am going try this!

  • Car makes the same sound... but then when I try turning it on again it's just a single click, do you know what it could be?

  • @1Youmadbro1 check the connection at the terminals on top of the battery fiddle with em and try to start the car if it still doesnt turn over, you probly need a new battery

  • this stuff just helped me out now thanx bro

  • thanks for the video, my car is making that same noise right now and this helped in diagnosing the problem!

  • thats what happend to my Yota, same clicking sounds. one promlem ofter another.SMH:(

  • when my car does this i open the hood and hit the battery terminals with the butt of a screwdriver. turns on after that.

  • Thanks for the video - I'm having the same problem. We went on a 10 week trip so disconnected the battery to one of our cars and when I came back and reconnected, getting this same sound! I

  • I had the same problem, and i fixed it by replacing the battery. the sound comes from the starter solenoid due to insufficient power from the battery. Thanks man for the video.

  • It was a joke... It actually sounds like a dead battery to me. Or ur terminals r loose or ur connection from the battery to the solenoid on your starter is bad.

  • Did you check your blinker fluid?

  • @terrance89181 did you check the description?

  • @CFLanJ my car is making the same noise it was fine until I parked it infront of the store than I tried to restart it, It just made that noise i tried to turn on the fan in my car to see if it is a battery problem and the heater fan eventually died. Do you think it is just the battery it is strange that it happened all of a sudden. PLEASE HELP I know nothing about cars and i need it running soon. The car is chevy cavalier i was able to jumpstart the car and drove it for 10 minutes.

  • @sarahata22 if u jumped it and it died whithout u shutting it off that could be ur altanator. otherwise just change ur batteryand make sure the battery cables are on good

  • @CFLanJ thanks for your immediate response no the car did not die without me shutting it off. I even drove fast to see if it accelerated ok and i had no problems just wont start when I shut off the engine

  • @CFLanJ me again After driving for ten minutes turned of the engine but the car would not start shouldnt ten minutes be enough for the battery to charge. Thanks for your help

  • Same thing happened to me. Took it to AutoZone and they said the battery was bad, I was two months away from the warranty expiring so I got a replacement for no cost (the bad battery lasted only two years), got a new battery and changed the posts, old one were a bit corroded. Problem solved.

  • Thank you for this video, I really appreciate it! I thought my battery was dead so I brought it to the shop... they tested it and the tester said it was bad. I bought a new battery and after I installed it it started making this noise...It turns out the battery clamps were really corroded and not making the connection. Problem solved.

  • It could be a lot of things. Battery, starter, possibly an alternator (probably not though) or it could even be spark plugs.

  • batterys dead obviously

  • @ShinjukuKohaku nope

  • my honda is doing the same thing!! thanx for posting this up! i hope thats all it is, just the wiring and or the battery

  • Answer Is in the Description

  • my car is making the same exact noise as the video u posted!!..

So the problem was just dead battery? and faulty battery connectors?..

After replacing the battery did it work fine till now?

  • same!!!!!!

  • That happened today when my mom wanted to take me to school. Same starter noise.

  • I was having this problem and I rewired my negative cable and bought a new battery. Now I don't even get the clicking sound any longer. Any recommendations?

  • Thanks! My Nissan Xterra is doing the exact same thing. I wasn't sure if it was the battery because the dashboard lights were coming on, now I feel much better!

  • @madsenchris yup ill put the problem in my description alot of people seem to have it

  • so how did u fix it because mine is doing the same exact thing??

  • @taltol9 yup ill put the problem in my description alot of people seem to have it

  • Same problem with our Toyota - battery issue.

Even w/ the bum battery, the car will still work. How? Hook your battery to a working vehicle's battery w/ jumper cables. Turn that car on. Turn your car on. Once on, leave it running for 10-15 minutes. While it's running, if you need to move the car somewhere, you can drive.

Whatever you do during the drive - DON"T TURN THE ENGINE OFF! The car won't turn on again and you'll need your jumper cables (and another car) get it going once more.

  • so did u fix it cus that sounds exactly like what mine is doing!

  • My car is making the same exact clicking sound. Now I know to check the battery. Thanks for posting!

  • @bleuhalo69 check the connections too the fast clicking is from that i had to change my battery connectors

  • @bleuhalo69 was it a dead battery did u find out?

  • @razehey Yes, for me it was just the battery. As soon as I installed a new battery, it started right up with no problems.

  • @bleuhalo69 how do you know if its the starter? is it expensive to fix the starter?

  • Could be the starter, but most likely a bad battery or wiring issue. Not enough amps or volts to the starter will cause the solenoid to click like that.

  • @fsnissen

    Thank you

  • @fsnissen it was that the starter wasnt gettin enough power, threw me off cuz i had power in the car i was thinking more towards wiring =P

Thanks for the help if u didnt post i probly would have fiddled around with the wiring then changed em for nothing

  • @fsnissen Glad you figured it out. Hondas of that era are notorious for relay failures. You won't even get the click from the starter solenoid if the relay is bad. Take care.
