Incredibly moving video you created. This is the beauty of You-Tube. We can keep pent up images and hopes alive in our minds for many years, and then the tool comes forth where we can express them to the world. You did a fantastic job!
it would be cool if good were something that actually existed cause in this world its all a point of view what we view as something righteous someone else may see as a blemish to man kind.
Thank you for putting this to Tom Clay's classic - it's been beautifully done and is just as relevant now as when it was first released. Let's hope all the young people of the world view it and let it inspire them. I am a huge fan of Gen Y and think the young people of the world are going to make it a much better place than my generation - the Baby Boomers - were able to do. Peace & love everybody!!
@grantgalea because nothing ever went wrong before one single guy was shot? even just in the US how about all of the wars? how about giving pox infected blankets to native americans and the mass slaughter that preceded and followed? What about slavery? or the oppression of gays, women, children, etc? As far as tolerance and social progress- things have gotten better, not worse. "the devil" didn't "take over" america. humanity is and always has been selfish and violent.
MASTERFUL!!! An excellent string of images to match an excellent compilation of music and common sense wisdom. You added greater impact to a already great work of audio.
I was in Vietnam in '68-'69. For the longest time I couldn't listen to this song because of the painful memories it brought back of friends lost in a foreign land. But that is a distant past and I've grown older and hopefully wiser. Now I can truly appreciate the song's touching humanity although a tear or two still fall when ever I hear it. May all those who perished in that far away country find peace in the next life.
I haven't heard this song year in over 30 years. I never stopped looking. My God I found it just now. My jaw literally dropped. And yes I am listening to it this very moment. It has always tugged at my heart. Thank you. Really brings tears flooding to the forefront. How thing s have changed. In more negative ways. Nobody wants to fix the mess in their own backyards.
Thank you so very much for posting this. I just posted it to my fb page. If we forget our past we are doomed to repeat it. I encourage all (especially us baby boomers) to share this with their children!
What have we taught our children and grandchildren SINCE this rec ording...and the events of the 1960s? We still disrespect our leaders....we look for flaws in those who want to do good...we look to those who rise above their stations in life with envy...Our children look not to their parents for support and guidance, but to their peers,movie/tv stars and sports figures.......Children today are bullied and bully today with more frequency than ever before...have we learned anything?
".... what is prejudice? mmm I think its when somebody is sick" that was god speaking thru the child... there is only one key to life, that is one love and service to all. everything else is a trap, meaning: -politics -religion (so so much the teachers) -cults -money -ego -fame
I was a freshman in high school when I first heard this recording. In fact, if I remember correctly, the original recording used the original hit versions of the songs, and had to be replaced by this one probably for copyright reasons. I remember it being one of the most powerful recordings I'd ever heard at the time. It's message is still profoundly powerful. Thanks for posting this.
OMG I remember hearing this & crying every time I heard it when I was young...NOw I'm older I still cry! But the msg you gotta take is... .."Some men see things as they are & say WHY...I dream things that never were & say WHY NOT!!"...
the only way forward is thru forgiveness.... if mankind does not learn from history...histery repeats itself. Take time to smell the flowers before you choose.... whatever you choose today determines how your tomorrow will be...advocate peace... although you might think yr decision is just a drop in the bucket ...the ocean is made up of drops...
What a way to be frozen in time....with a hateful look for generations to see. (The girl at :28)...I guess that's what "they" mean by if you keep making that face it will stay will that way??
Today (6/6/10) is the 42nd anniversary of Robert Kennedy's death. Whenever you read this, please take a moment to pray for Bobby's soul and to pray for this nation, which lost so much with his passing.
great video, evocative and emotional....but peace in this world? unfortunately unattainable .. which is why I decided NOT to breed .where did the Kennedy`s aquire their wealth? hmmm... where did the bush`s aquire theirs? dealing with all the WRONG people.

This was the first single I ever brought. I was 14 now I am 52. I have tears falling off my chin through sadness and shame at mankinds ignorance to difference. What the world needs now is love is as a powerful a statement now as when it nailed me to the floor all those years ago. I feel ashamed I have not done more. Love is the transformation of harmonious amounts of energy and its the same if your; black, white, muslim, christian, rich, poor, child, family or even a government. wake up!
Great Job on this... I have wanted to hear this song many years and just realized youtube may have it.... You tube is wonderful because of tubers like you...thanks

Even though I was only 11 years old when this song was wriiten, it was a very tough times for America, we'll never forget if you lived through it ,between the assacinations of Of John, Martin ,and Bobby and the Viet Nam war, not to mention all the Riots from Chicago, to Newerk, and La....They never play this song anymore but I'mm glad we can hear it on You Tube after 50 or so years so we can see how far we came, and with a new great President Obama...God Bless America.... Thanks . Gary
Great president? O_o you do know what he is doing right..? Sure he is trying to help but he needs to control his administration cause they are spending so much money, the debt the United States has now is huge, and they are going more and more into it, soon enough the US dollar is going to be worth nothing and the US will be a 3rd world country...and Obama CAN'T do anything about it. If only these guys lived eh? Then maybe the US would be in a better situation than what they are now in.
People think they need to do great things to change the world. Not at all. It is also not true that doing nothing bad is enough. If you do something simple like give food to a stray cat or dog, plant a tree, help someone in need, sometimes just pay attention to them. Avoid say things that hurt somenone, even when they deserve. Donate a small amount of the most important thing in the world: love. You don't believe in God, or gods, no problem. Love is universal.
This video makes my heart weep and sing at the same time. I really wish we could change the world so easily. When i was younger i loved superman for all he was, like many kids i wanted to be him. Nowadays i still want to be him not for power but to be able to inspire hope, peace, and most of all brotherly love. If only people would hope and fight for peace and love. Power is useless when all it creates is endless misery.
A wonderful video thank you. I am trying to think of another great nation that kills there leaders of foresight. Were they such a threat to freedom that they had to die. Even in Australia all those years ago we were confused and saddened why great men should die.
Thank you for making the wonderful video for this audio-music compilation. When i used to listen to this on radio, it's almost the same images that come to my mind
I cant help but cry every time I hear this song, I think about all the injustice and suffering in the world and I also see people who try to alleviate this suffering are punished. Maybe one day we can all live as one people, as humanity undivided.
sad thing is you ask people that do hatred bigotry and predijuce, they couldnt tell you what it is either, not really, they just know it feels natural to them.(sad)
I often visit the yahoo answers site. It is infuriating, and expecially depressing to see all of the vitriolic questions about Ted Kennedy being posted there. I vividly remember these times. How sad it is that the irrational hatred in this country has not abated one bit. I am afraid that we are going to see another of these terrible tragedies occur soon. I can feel it.
I remember this song growing up as a teenager. It's a reminder that no one knows what purpose his life may hold and that we are only here for a season...It's so sad to see great men lives end they way...
it is very sad what happens to alot of great people but it will never end,
its a sad thought to think but wherever there is good there will always be bad and vice-verser, same as love and hate and happy and sad,. . . . there will always be that balance im afraid.
. . . . .
what would life be without death?
its strange to think.
there is an end to every beggining and a beggining to every end.
yeah people are no damn good,we are ruining this earth and its too late to reverse all the damage we have done to it,even if every single person stopped driving cars right now it still would be too late, and thats just one of many bad things we are doing.
all these "lone gunmen"... bullshit, they were CIA (mind controlled) patsies. No coincidence, and the american public are too dumb to realize they've been had.
My recording of this song is worn out ,having come from radio many years ago,and being transferred from tape to disc.A very moving compilation that more people need to see. Many thanks for the view.
yes and no hes not anything like them but he has something alot hate now who hate hem becuse of his skin color and sad to say there are those who would try that to hem
.... The others with their direct comments. All of them continuing to breed, incite, and teach prejudice, discrimination, hatred, racism and bigotry.
Is it not interesting that these people align themselves with Barak Obama, and he had to officially separate from them? Also he graduated from Harvard, where the Kennedy's are so influential, and have the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and he aligns himself with JFK? His father a Muslem, Farakhan NOI head.
... True he said many times to be non-violent. But there are instigators and inciters, as we saw in LA, from the Rodney King case, and was there during the horrific riots, and remember the riots in Washington D.C. in 1968 too, after MLK's assassination. And the 'leaders', who are after also, from Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farakhan, etc.
Clear anti-semites. Jackson with his likely mafia connections, embracing Arafat in 1980's [while he was still considered a Terrorist and murderer]....
.... And He is suffering Today. The saga continues with the family. Look at Timeline of Kennedy Tragedies and Wikipedia about Kennedy Family, [correct it was Edward's aide, Robert was Attorney General], and see more in the family too.
Who were these people really? Why should the creator stop their influence?
And Martin [MLK] Who was he really?
Was he just an advocate of rights? Was he only peaceful as, it seemed to me? There was so much violence around him, and many of his demonstrations.
.... along with his crew, aboard his PT 109 when a Japanese cruiser sliced through the boat during the night. Later to be assassinated in office as President. Then Robert who campaigned toward peace and social reforms, was also assassinated in LA, CA near to victory for the Democratic Presidential nomination; his popularity so high, likely to be President too. Then Edward, driving off the bridge with his secretary dying at Chappaquiddick, ended his possible Presidential hopes and influence.
....It is known by many of the Jews that their father Joseph was a very big anti-semite. He acted with his power, and influence in the government to stop efforts to save many from these acts in Europe during WWII. Also known, that at least one, maybe two great people told him that for his actions, he will bring a curse upon his family.
Joseph Sr.'s pride and joy, his first born, and great hope, Joseph Jr. was a pilot, and was shot down during WWII. LT CMDR John nearly killed in the S.Pacific
It is interesting that you should start your video with the hatred, bigotry, and prejudice against Jews.
And that the three assassinations of the 1960's, i remember so well. All so emotional, in a time of turmoil, and those who seemed to pursue peace.
Did you intend an connection? Did You know of one?
The famous Kennedy Family, John was President, Robert seemed sure to be [was in John's cabinet as Security of State], [Edward's moving eulogy of brother Bobby]......
How is his comment any more moronic than the one he responded to pappykimo? "History repeats itself" does not mean "someone will shoot him". He could very well make many of the same mistakes of his predecessors, just like hey...every other president we've ever had? People need to lower their hopes for Obama a bit, his 8 years (hopefully) can't possibly bring the changes most are expecting.
In answer to your question, Hope is the best place to plan (and that aint just in Arkansas ( Clinton-wise)) We have it in Oz. I do understand, though, your lowering of expectations of just one man. But as a start its good
Hey xcellant..... You could change history and step forward and take the bullet instead of writing moron comments!! This was a wonderful piece back in 71 and still remains close to the top. PEACE!!
Thank you for putting this together. I was thinking of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today, Jan. 15th, his birthday and came across this.
Having lived through the assassinations of these men, this video made me feel the same as I did then. But - oh the innocent child speaking. I will have hope in goodness 'til the end of my days.
First time I saw this clip I was about 10 years old, I am now 45 and it still has the same effect on me. It is sad to see how humanity doesn't learn from past experiences.
Youtube IRA FUNERAL = CORPORALS KILLINGS and see what dewey-eyed Irish-American funding for terrorism did from 1960s-present, till it took a hit (aweful tho it was) 9/11 and began to argue against terrorism. Come on get real
This video is one off the best messages in the world! We need, peace, freedom, rest. No wars! I agree with you my friend...total grazy is this world onn this moment!!!
My mum has been looking for this 4 so long so when we got broadband i looked it up. When i found it and watched it i was over come with emotion! its so beautiful. The little girl was just so sweet. It was so beautiful and kinda painful to watch THANK-YOU SO MUCH
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this. I recently bought the album on Ebay just to have it, but had no way of playing it. This was perfect, especially with the video tie-in.
George Bush and the rest of the US Politicians should be strapped to a chair, made to listen and watch this, asked to explain it meaning not only 1 million times but until the values of those depicted here are embedded into their brains. After that they should be WATER BOARDED!!!!
Nalora, I know I've commented before, but this...truly your finest video..I cannot say enough about. It brings me to tears every time. On this 4th of July, I have chosen to share it with several friends. Have a great weekend.
Frinds including me Ted.I was 8 when JFK died.Only remember they didn't show The Little Rascals on Sat.morn.I was 13 when RFK died & remember 48 hr.coverage for 2 days, watched every minute of it.Thanks!
I live in Australia and I have loved this song since I was a little girl. I realised its relevance a long time ago and watching this video has made me weep - so much could have been so very different if these 4 men had lived long enough to fulfil their plans for peace in this world. I was only 2 when President Kennedy died and I cry everytime I see his assassination replayed.
Thank you Thank you Thank you for putting this together. I wore the 45rpm to death and never knew how to find this again. And the video is amazing!!!!!!

A wonderful video thank you. I am trying to think of another great nation that kills there leaders of foresight. Were they such a threat to freedom that they had to die. Even in Australia all those years ago we were confused and saddened why great men should die.

I cant help but cry every time I hear this song, I think about all the injustice and suffering in the world and I also see people who try to alleviate this suffering are punished. Maybe one day we can all live as one people, as humanity undivided.

I can feel it.

it is very sad what happens to alot of great people but it will never end,
its a sad thought to think but wherever there is good there will always be bad and vice-verser, same as love and hate and happy and sad,. . . . there will always be that balance im afraid.
. . . . .
what would life be without death?
its strange to think.
there is an end to every beggining and a beggining to every end.

yeah people are no damn good,we are ruining this earth and its too late to reverse all the damage we have done to it,even if every single person stopped driving cars right now it still would be too late, and thats just one of many bad things we are doing.

Do we know his inner truth?
ntf3rd 2 years ago
Jackson with his likely mafia connections, embracing Arafat in 1980's [while he was still considered a Terrorist and murderer]....
ntf3rd 2 years ago
There was so much violence around him, and many of his demonstrations.
ntf3rd 2 years ago
.... along with his crew, aboard his PT 109 when a Japanese cruiser sliced through the boat during the night. Later to be assassinated in office as President. Then Robert who campaigned toward peace and social reforms, was also assassinated in LA, CA near to victory for the Democratic Presidential nomination; his popularity so high, likely to be President too. Then Edward, driving off the bridge with his secretary dying at Chappaquiddick, ended his possible Presidential hopes and influence.
ntf3rd 2 years ago
....It is known by many of the Jews that their father Joseph was a very big anti-semite.
LT CMDR John nearly killed in the S.Pacific
ntf3rd 2 years ago
Thank You. Very Nice Nalora

Big resounding question from an adult." What is? " Small enquiring answer from child. " I don't know."
Let's leave it for the kids to work out and for us to simply ask that question. Our job is to ask, not answer with our inbuilt prejudices.

How is his comment any more moronic than the one he responded to pappykimo? "History repeats itself" does not mean "someone will shoot him". He could very well make many of the same mistakes of his predecessors, just like hey...every other president we've ever had? People need to lower their hopes for Obama a bit, his 8 years (hopefully) can't possibly bring the changes most are expecting.
elethayen 3 years ago
In answer to your question, Hope is the best place to plan (and that aint just in Arkansas ( Clinton-wise)) We have it in Oz. I do understand, though, your lowering of expectations of just one man. But as a start its good
