  • Why don't cities across the country that have the right weather, grow their own sequoias in a park. I would imagine they would be a tourist attraction. From what I learned on my trip, they need water and shade at the roots.

  • @mightydesign maybe the roots are too long and would hit pipes or other contruction

  • I can't wait to see all these beautiful places! do you think mariposa grove road will be open in early april? I'm going to visit yosemite national park this year. from el portal, highway 140, then to the yosemite valley. do you think it will be safe to drive from the valley through higway 41 and see giant sequoias at mariposa grove and then leave the park by south entrance???

  • @calamic I think you will be just about okay in April - the Wawona Road is supposedly open all year round. You should definitely check the National Park Service website for the best, most up to date information though, so as to be safe. (nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/spring.htm)

You will have an amazing time. I wish I could go back soon, it's my favourite place in the whole world.

  • @sixthland thank you! :) it will be my 3rd time in US and my 1st visiting california, arizona, nevada and utah. there's so much to see anywhere but US have something special that I can't explain... I just love it! can't wait to flight from rome to l.a. next march!!! hope to see as much as I can, I will stay 2 night at cedar lodge in el portal. I know it's not enough but I'll do my best!!! :) thanks again!

  • @calamic I agree. There is so much to see - even just in California.
