  • Odd, I worked on Auto Assault, and I don't remember anyone who disliked playing the game.

  • Thank you lynda.

That sword is heavy. Let me hold it

  • I really like how u have different nature spots in the background. I hope you find some really cool places to film at :)

  • Well, when I make some game (simple old-school text only games in C++) with complete RPG system and story, I keep wasting most time just playing the short parts I did over and over again, couse it's fun :) Same with mapmaking in UnrealED or Hammer, I just fly-by it or play with bots on maps half done I just let hours fly, instead completing damn thing already :) I can't BELIEVE that ppl at company didnt want to play their OWN game? And be strong about the shirt, changing once a month is ok! ;D

  • Why did you go all defensive about the shirt bro?

  • @markeedragon, yes it was NetDevil. I spent E3-06 with them. They honestly really loved their game. The problem was there was almost 0 advertising done for it by NCSoft.

This was a bit of a problem because NCSoft was also publishing Tabula Rasa at the same time and Richard Garriott was essentially absorbing NCSoft's budget for it at that time. Sadly, Tabula Rasa equally failed. I honestly had more fun playing Auto Assault and I got to play test both AA and TR.

    Just an insiders view...

  • Yeah it was Net Devil, it was a shame to see that company go under, I blame Gazillion for that, they wrecked the company and trashed the game that would have saved the company, Jumpgate Evolution :/

  • The Chronicles of Spellborn, the company behind that had NO CLUE!!!

I remember tuning in to the player/dev Q&A session, and the devs were just absolutely clueless.

  • Aw, I miss this game.

The music, sound design, and general ambiance were all top notch, and the arena system was a ton of fun (destruction derby tournaments every few hours with a built in bracket system).

Unfortunately there were some game systems (like the entire economy) that needed to be totally scrapped.

I always felt that if they added a locking/gun tracking system and ramped up the combat ranges for snipers like eve online it would have been absolutely amazing.

  • Sorry MarkeeDragon, but you're misinformed. The game wasn't developed by NCSoft but NetDevil.

I was WITH NetDevil at E3 2006 as an invite and tons of the players that came to the booth absolutely LOVED the game. The developers played the game a ton. I found this out over shots of tequila with the CEO and Lead Developer of AutoAssault at the NCSoft after party for E3.

So whomever informed you did so incorrectly. I'd like to know who you HEARD this from.

  • @weakmindedidiot, Was Netdevil the developer and NCSoft the publisher? It's possible that I have them mixed up a bit. But the story and why it's important is the real thing to pay attention to.

  • Hey MarkeeDragon,

Have you heard of Planetside and the upcoming Planetside 2?

  • my question lol.

  • I remember buying a Wow game card at eb games and they were giving away free copies of auto assault

  • nice vid md

  • MD, don't apologize because you wear the same clothes. 1. It shows that you're successful enough to buy 365 maroon polo shirts and just toss the old ones when they are dirty. 2. You spend time thinking of things more important than what to wear. 3. You like maroon.

  • you are funny!!!

  • is it bad that i didnt notice you wear the same shirt ?

  • A few years ago Nihilistic Software (under Blizzard) abandoned developing "Starcraft:Ghost" for similar reasons. The official statement was that they just couldn't make the game fun to play.

  • That game was just fundamentally dumb. Car combat where you clicked on enemy cars like WoW and it does rolls instead of actually shooting them with projectiles. The developer has to be hopeless when you make an early design decision like that. I was shocked when I first tried it at E3.

  • When this game came out. There was a contest over on 1UP.com. To get a free copy of the game. I entered it. And WON. Along with 11 other people. Not a month after the game came out. It closed down. And me and the other winners didn't get crap. OK, nothing physical. We got xp for lvls. I am a "platinum agent" cause of the points they gave me. i was less then happy with all of it. But what could we do really?

  • @AgoSakku 1up.com/do/club?clubid=100439

  • Good video. = )

  • I just watched one of your old videos, you have lost some weight?

  • @Dregge1, Yep. Lost about 60 pounds. Got a few more to go. :)

  • @markeedragon Hopefully it will be worth the weight.

  • @markeedragon Nice, congrats (Y) :D Now give me my free code >< :D

  • Btw i agree 100% the makers of the game should play their own game, and seriously not just 1 hour lookabouts.

  • I wish the greedy unimaginative people who make or fund wow clones would grow some balls, really gets me when all games seem to be reskinned wow.

If people want to play a wow type game they will play wow.

  • Markus, I love your video man!

  • Markee thanks for all the info man I really enjoy these kinds of independent views toward games. What I like most about this video is your bringing up dead games and what happened to it. Can I ask something? Why did the games media (IGN and Kotaku and such) Rally behind Jeff Gerstman bieng fired. I dont know if you have any perspective toward game journalists but I would like to hear about why he got fired and why no one in the media voiced their displeasure
