item is hot, really catching on. can shoot all day with the shock absorbing stock. what a difference in tac. weapons. Buds gun shop will email u when it comes in if you create an account.
This is a awesome weapon, I bought one a couple of months ago and love it. It has worked like a charm. Picked up a rail for the other side at Nordic Components who makes the barrel clamps and tube extensions for it. It operates so smooth for such force.
I have the Mossberg 500. I can tell you that the Mossberg family of shotgons is much easier to break down and put together. With the standard buttstock all that is needed is a small object. Twig, key, allen wrench, and so on. Based on this video I will never buy a Remington shotgun.
ok I'm 15 and I'm looking to get a gun.Now i was thinking about getting an AR-15 and then just decking it out with a red dot or holographic then putting a grip on it, get a tactical light, maybe a laser pointer, suppressor, then a fast reload attachment for magazines. but recently I've seen the Remington 887 tactical nitro mag which i really like with a grip and a holographic sight or a red dot. which would you recommend i get money isn't a problem and this is not my first gun
i say stick with what your good with, if you are comfortable with rifles stick with it, you have a good field role, im not good with a rifle, and i want to get one of these to dump the chinese made piece of shit shotgun that i have so if you comfortable with shotgun i say go for it, because AR15s are so dam expensive for a(in my overpower-shotguning opinion) underpowered overpriced reliability issued rifle, oh and the versitility you have with a shotgun is overwhelming
Tap tap tap taparooo!! Nice vid I want this shotgun, it was a toss up between this and the 590 A1 mossy but I think for the price you get alot more out of the 887.
@teddysalamander From what I understand, because this is sort of a new model of firearm, there either arent many aftermarket parts out there, or there aren't any at all, and because of the new "amorlokt" coating, the parts for the 870 don't work or aren't recommended. I'm not the authority, so if any of you dudes hear or see anything, let me know. Dude, this is one NICE shotgun, I can shoot it all day, the 5.5 mm recoil pad does a helll of a job and I'm not a big bulky guy.
im honestly a new gun owner and i'm about 2 days away from buying this gun, can anyone tell me if 00-buck or 000-buck is available in 3.5" magnum loads? also, are there special slugs for the 3.5"?
I recently purchased one, its great looking gun, great feeling gun. I can see how people may say it feels like a toy or whatever, but she ain't no toy!!!! This is one mean ass shotty! I plan to put a laser/flashlight combo on the sidemount rail, and throw a red dot up top. Figured they'd look really cool, and actually have a great deal of function. Its stupid that there are no aftermarket stocks and pistol grips available for this baby, especially since its a TAC, there simply aren't any. Aft
@renissant are you sure there's no after market stuff? because from what i understand this gun can basically be interchanged with anything an 870. there's guys at my local gunshop who do it all the time. i could be wrong, but i could have sworn you can put any 870 pistol grip on a 877 NMT. but you really love your 877NMT? because im pretty much going to buy one and would love to hear some feed back. i know its won a couple of awards for sure.
The only thing I found that you didn't really clarify was the trigger mech pins are actually 2 different sizes. The longer pin goes toward the barrel as the body begins to widen as it moves forward. If you do not put them in correctly; you will have lips on both sides toward the rear of the butt and you will be flush on one side and concave on the other towards the front of the trigger mech.
This gun is awesome, It won the Shooting Illustrated Shotgun of the year. I've shot many rounds through mine and have had no issues whatsoever. FYI fike has no experience with the gun, nor does he get his info from credible sources.
Gun-Test magazine did a review on this gun in Sept 2009 issue, the review listed the following about the Remington 887:
poor shotgun, nose heavy balance, rattle in receiver, poor finish, action rough - sticky, and the gun did not shoot to point of aim. They even mentioned the included magazine plug did not restrict the gun properly! Unreal? You can tell some of the poor quality just by handling the gun alone....compare it to the SuperNova, game over.
Yes it can. There are just a few extra steps when doing an 887 tactical. For a regular 887 the steps are the same; there are just less steps involved.
@GunBlogger...Just thought I would add that I own that 26" SPS version and the two pins that hold the trigger assembly on my version are almost identical except the rear pin is slightly longer then the front pin.Great video though, this was the first shotgun I purchased and it has been bashed alot on web forums but I really like mine and have had zero problems with over 500 shells through it.
It looks like you've mag dumped this a few times - have you noticed any issues that extreme barrel heating (from continual rapid fire) had on the polymer coated barrel? Any spots where the poly cladding was not tightly bonded to the metal underneath?
I've wanted one of these, and want very much to like the gun. I suspect a lot of the rumors may have been due to a few first production flukes, and shotgun snobbery in general (ie not liking polymer anything on a shotgun)
Actually, the ability for the 887's armorlokt coating to dissipate heat was one of my favorite aspects of the 887 when I was reviewing it. You can read the full review at Gunblog dot com.
Great presentation of the breakdown and reassembly. Viewers should also note that the tactical choke is removable as well. I recently purchased the exact configuration, and absolutely love this gun. It's relatively lightweight, and it's a lot of fun to shoot. I personally was really drawn to the design, and aesthetically it just looks really tough. Lots of positive feedback from fellow range shooters whose attention it caught.
my friend owns this gun in max4 and we have dropped it out the window in his truck it fell of the polaris ranger goin 45 right on the cement and leaves it in a field in his duck blind for a few days and it still shoots and works fine one of the most rugged and durable guns ive seen.
great video and great review on the gunblog site. im really leaning towards getting one of these. my only question is can you replace the stock with a pistol grip/collapsible type stock?
Mark I'm not sure. The butt stock can be removed as per the instructions; however, I don't know if remington 870 aftermarket stock sets will fit. The attachment looks similar but that doesn't tell me if it would fit or not.
I wasn't sure about this gun but after reading your gunblog and watching your video I went to cabelas and bought it please keep up the informatal videos. Thanks for helping me pick my shotgun.
Great Video and review. I read your article about the Rem M887 Tactical. You guys are one of the first giving the M887 Tactical configuration a good review. There was a jack ass that name it "the Clunker of the year" I had mine for few weeks and I being afraid to use it because I may want to sell it and recup some money. Well I thank you and I am subscribing too. GREAT Video ! I am a fan and you guys restored my faith on my M887 Tactical.
I personally loved shooting this shotgun, and I prefer it over my winchester 1300 defender. But with that being said, I believe its going to be hard to for a lot of people to like a "plastic" shotgun (its covered in Remington's armorlokt polymer coating).
how do you go from the 4+1 to 6+1 when you get it out of the box?

I specked it out with a red dot scope, laser 20mw, and 220 lumen light. Use 00buck and hot rifled slugs. Well built, reliable, and devastating.

Do a youtube search for Remington 887 click stick...... cant believe Remington would out their name on the 887. In my opinion just buy a Benelli.
