@twothphary that's why every artist worth anything in the music industry would give their right arm to appear with dylan or cover one of his songs.idiot.
I was at one of the goteborg gigs and it was among the best of a lifetime, by anyone. (The Budokan record was a real disappointment for me.) Do you know if there's any recording of the long acoustic solo section of the shows? I think most of us were in tears during that.
Thanks - so hard to find on You Tube. This is such a brilliant performance of this song. Much better than the album. Is there a CD containing live performance?
You may be right-Sara the etherial goddess that fought for his soul in the night how could anyone think she would sell him out? and she never has. I can't imagine her pain when Bobby caught the "horse-playing disease"But I like to think they are still deeply in love enjoying their children and grandchildren together.Bob wrote his family was his light I suspect it still is and anyways I believe in fairy tales coming true.
This song is beautiful......are you too fast to see that i must have solitude?...i could dedicate those words to my wife...i'm sure he was speaking to hers when he wrote that song.Anyway...he can go deep inside....and then he can go deeper...and that's fucking surprising. I love this guy.
@truetolife100 I'm thinking it's about Sara mostly because of the line, "And you cook and sew, make flowers grow. Do you understand my pain?" Their custody battle lingered on for years & he referred to Sara as being able to do all these things before. The pain here is definitely evident. I guess we shall never know, but whoever it is has givrn him some serious pain!
A year after his divorce. Sounds like Dylan is pouring his heart out here. One of his son's said his father's life is in many of his songs. Maybe this is what has helped him heal & carry on?? I feel guilty reaping the benefits of his pain, but the lyrics here are is so emotional & touching!
Wonderful! I really love these live versions! a bootleg? would love to hear more! I did once hear "tomorrow is a long time" in a live version from 1978, cant find it anymore unfortunately..

why is this song so difficult to found?
laurita0 4 months ago
I have a feeling this isn't about Sara but rather another woman in Bobby's life.
This is such a heart felt version. Thank you for posting. This and"Baby Please Stop Crying" are two of my favorites on Street Legal..a great album.
