great vid! very nice to see King Airs in a role other than executive transports....the RAF's are 90s, correct?
we just got a C90 here and so far everyone is loving it....its a massive upgrade from our old Aero Commander 681....ill see about getting a video of up uploaded sometime
Great vid! Thinking of joining the RAF as a pilot (quite like to go multi-engine aswell), but not sure if i like the military aspect of the job; any good advice or info you could share? Thanks.
the GPS has a wind finder on it, but there is no wind limit at height, just potential time and fuel burn issues. the crosswind limit is 25 knots for landing, 15 for students. the highest we can fly these is FL280, although they can go to FL350 but we are limited by RVSM compliance, as the RAF feels there is no need to buy the license. they are pressurised and have oxygen masks for emergency use.
do you have onboard wind speed direction indicator? is a xwind component for an aircraft the same when at cruise level as a xwind landing. so if the xwind coponent was say 40knots, would it matter if you had a xwind at of 78 knots at fl 240
we never practice double engine failures because it is such a remote possibility, but they tell us the best glide speed is 135kts if they ever both failed. we practice EFATO's at 200 feet AGL. i hope i answered all your questions!!
wow! what is the highest flight level you have flown these. do you practice real dual engine failure whilst being well within gliding distance of a suitable landing spot. . do these aircraft have pressurized cabin or just oxygen masks. do you use the garmin gps 500?
when you practice single engine failure, raising the dead and rudder trimmed, do you perform single engine failure on lift off or only in the sim due to danger. Is dual engine failure upon rotation practiced regularaly in the sim? flight sim 2004 is an incredible training tool isnt it. alot of people dont understand how powerfull it really is in theoretical knowledge
Nice to see what our buds across the pond are up to! How long does training last over there? Ours is about 1 year (T6/T38 or T1) plus another year for follow on.
we do 60 hours on the grob 115E tutor, then those of us who get multi-engine streaming do 30 hours on the firefly and about 75 hours on the king air. takes about 2 years
Not bad....we get 25 hrs in a DA-20C1, ~120 hrs in a T-6II, then you "track" to and finish up in either T-38s, T-1s, T-44s, or JetRangers with the Army.
All in all we finish with about 250hrs or so when it's all said and done.
we have very strict speed and g-force limits that we adhere to, and rigorous stress monitoring is carried out by the techies. i can assure you these aircraft have not been over stressed
Im just starting on 45 after moortrek, video looks awesome mate, cant wait fo it!

Fantistic. Saw this video ages ago and wanted to know what the song was. Anyway, are you on your OCU yet?
I'm in my first year of the university air squadron!

My concerns with over stressing air frames nearly always lies with rental airplanes.

You don't wanna stress the airframe on these planes. One of the most common problems with small airplanes is people nearly allways fly them to fast.
