    As am I.

  • dear gulda,as if he lived nowday, special mood of view, too fast said nowdays upon his interpretation, these figures never understand mozart

    felicitaciones y gracias.

  • oh my God!!! since 0.13 to 0.55 is so exctiting and wonderfull!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very fast and too loud.

  • csoda ,egyedülálló élmény a játéka,igazi művész,a sok hazug között kiemelkedő,az utolsó "bölények" egyike

  • What contrasts,dynamic tempo;Great interpretation by a great pianist!!

  • INTERGALACTIC !!!!! Fantastico!

  • 7 personas estan sordas

  • Gulda's address at the end (roughly translated based on my shaky 2-year knowledge of German):

"Thank you, thank you. Surely you'll understand first of all that I've become a bit sweaty and second, while this black outfit is appropriate for the D minor concerto, it is not so for the D major, so I'll ask you to wait patiently for 2 minutes while I go change into something else."

  • my highly the best interpretator,ever..and will remain so,if it depends on....me.

  • Danke, habe Link gesetzt

  • Yeah, baby! Strap yourself in & enjoy the ride!

  • this concerto is the only piece by mozart I don't like

  • 5:44 yes I understand you.

  • Love his flappy, "dancing octopus" conducting at 5:03 XD

  • Genial!!

  • Wait... All orchestra is about men!

  • That's just the squeak of the piano stool you idiots....

  • KURWA what a beautiful piece of music ! Lady Gaga and Britney Spears FUCK OFF !

  • @martin846 Actually lady gaga has better chords

  • @Churruminonian I do not agree at all.

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!!

It's so wonderful to see Gulda enjoying himself, and in the process brings joy to all of us.

RIP, Gulda. That's how one achieves immortality, in this case, both Mozart and Gulda.

  • is that the Munich Phil?

  • Bravissimo!!!!!!

  • Really very good

  • Magnificent! I felt just a bit rushed though.

  • unbelievably beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • Germans frequently seem to make the best musicians. Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Handel, Beethoven, Brahms, et cetera.

  • trumpets?

  • It's the Munich Philharmonic.

  • what orchestra is this , they are fantastic

  • Bravo!

  • What did he just did at 0:01?fart?( I saw a violinist laughing)

  • @DHcello The violinist in question accidentally played a bass note (granted, sounded like a fart) and was subsequently embarrassed/amused enough to smirk :P Even professional orchestra players it seems are still 10 in their own minds haha

  • lol i love the guy who yells BRAVO! at the end.

  • One of Mozart's most memorable concertos plus an inspired performance in München.

  • he is playing Beethovens's cadenza :]

  • @Laglamidu The middle of this movement is almost pure Beethoven :)

  • @Nikolidas Beethoven was a particular fan of this piano concerto, and may have been inspired.

  • Just why are there 6 dislikes for this video?

  • I could really play when you play the full emotion of this movement. I was able to learn very good Mr. Gulda's perfourmances they listen. He is playing his own cadenza, cadenza, so I am also a composer playing the cadence of my own. I was very humorous to the Germans because of his German.

  • can someone interpret his german to english for me? Would very much appreciate it!

  • Fantasticna metrika. Najvise volim njegovo izvodjenje Mocartovog d moll koncerta

  • Majestuoso!!! sin palabras!!!

  • who's cadenza is he playing?

  • I'd gladly give Friederich Goulda a place among the Immortals for the way he rendered Mozart.

  • I am now a fan of Gulda!! RIP....

  • although he fails on the climax (5:51) gulda was maybe the best mozart performer.

and what to say about the concert? another masterwork of mozart, the greatest of them excepting number 25.

thank you for posting it! i have it in cd but it´s great seeing him how much feels it.

  • that concert was amazing. Its a shame that people lost track what music was supposed to sound like . Music today is crap. This was a delight to hear.

  • I wonder why the violonist laughed at 0:01 !

  • @The55555SSSSS Gulda just fart at 0:01!!!!!!!LOL

  • @DHcello

    he didn't ...

he moved his chair so that he was in a better position.

  • herrlich!!!

  • what does he say

  • @sinancans FG was asking the audience for understanding that he started to sweat "a little", that the dark clothes only fit for a d-minor concert but not for a d-major, therefore he asks for 2 minutes of patience, so that "he can wash himself (!) and change clothes"

that is really what he says. :-)

  • wonderful facial expression :) That can somtimes have the same value as those little individual variations of the soloist

  • AUSTRIA .... the country of classical perfection.

  • Tquiot thank you so much for uploading this videos :)

  • Sooooo great!!!

  • Your opinion:

Is there any logical/musical connections between the movements?

    thanks,

  • 0:02 was a chair moving, but sounded a bit fart-like.

  • @Laudan08 looooooool i think he farted for real the violinist was laughing

  • stupendous

  • bravoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • which is the cadenza?

  • @Sashomei beethoven

  • @Sashomei probably mr gulda

  • grandiose

  • BRAVO!! BRAVISSÍMO!!!! Thanks Mr. Gulda, Wolfgang. THANKS GOD!!!

  • man... dont say that guys dead. hes immortal.

  • Amazing, only Mozart with God's inspiration! Sweet Lord, you live in Mozarts music.

  • perfect perfect perfect

  • What a bad ass! Mozart's piano concerto just kicks but with Gulda playing! just to say the least.

  • Mozart is shining under Gulda's fingers..

  • How does he look so calm throughout? Lol, must have done this a thousand times to look so care-free while keeping the perfection in his performance! Astonishing! I wish I could be at a performance of his. =/

  • 0:01, is that fart? kidding of course.

  • ahahhahah

the violinist is smiling such a lot ;D

  • crimen only crimen

  • i have all Mozart`s pianos concertos, but this THIS ONE is the best piano concerto ever made!

  • Does anybody know what he says at the end to the public?

  • @Signifer82

he says: "You will understand that i worked up a sweat, firstly, and secondly that these black clothes maybe suitable to the D minor concert but not to the D major concert. That's why I ask you for a bit patience, so I can wash myself a bit backstage and change my clothes."

  • @AVIATEUR222 Thanks!

  • Hi Signifer82.

He says that he is wet through with perspiration and that his black clothing does not fit with the following D-MAJOR concerto. So he appologizes for going behind the stage in order to wash himself and to change clothes.

    That's it.

  • He conducts like my mother when she is listening to her favorite Verdi recordings while ironing. Nice interpretation of Mozarts 20th.

  • Sì, sì, SI!!!

  • hermosooooo!!!!...bravooo!!!!!!!!

  • I like the middle part of this piano concerto .

Though I expect it a little more piano allargatto.

Obviously it was more attentive to the orchestra than the adagio which I think stiil the best Mozart ever composed.

    top performance .

  • I love Gulda's interpretation of this, my favorite piano concerto of Mozart...so much feeling!

  • Pesta un pò troppo, ma bravo

  • Holy crap, Bravo indeed!

  • Gracioso!!!

  • I remember very well, first time I saw this live I almost cry. It´s so AMAZING.

  • one of the best; too bad he's gone

  • You mean Mozart?

    Heh, j/k

  • Zo== Let it be.

  • Bravooo

  • In my humble opinion I think the Mozart Gulda, skips many colors and looks like Beethoven. But nevertheless there is no denying that it is a very good version.

  • This is one of the most beautiful concertos ever, conducted by one of the best interpreters of Mozart ever. I've bought tickets to see it live on Lisbon (Porto) in October! Can't wait! ;)

  • amazing....I was so impressed...

I listend to concerto of Mozart first time.

I wanted to listen to this consert in real.

But I will listen to it by proms in London.

    I like this so much....^-^

    Thanks for uploading.

  • Can you people just appreciate the sound of a great composer without pointing out flaws in the pianists?

  • Wow, bad ass music! Love it! Mozart rocks!

  • Mozart's Allegro assai is not Prestissimo. Playing it at Gulda's speed is like watching a film projected at breakneck speed - as in those crazy Benny Hill films. Also, what happened to the phrasing? And dynamics? If Mozart could come back and watch this performance of KV 466, he would at once get a heart attack.

  • Is this tempo prestissimo for you???

  • I think Gulda would apologize to Mozart for taking liberty with the performance, but I think Mozart would commend him. I love it.

  • This is really good. It gives me a good example because I am learning this

  • Great pianist.

As a conductor , obviously a great misician makes him to be understand by the orchestra, but is not the best of course.

    Coming back to piano:

On eof greates of all times. And i am pretyy sure he doesn´t get all the fame he really deserved.

AND his body language is quiet with a very natural expressions completely under the music itself.

    And what a technique too.

    Well, is Goulda ( well....was)

    lokopiano

  • Ive never been a huge fan of piano concertos, especially mozart ones. However, the combination of this piece and Gulda's incredible interpretation has brought me back to listen to this several times...

  • Sooooooooo great!!! Oh my God!!! ICH LIEBE DAS!!!

  • F. Gulda died of hart attack in 2000.

  • Why Gulda has died? Please tell me why? ! This world needs guys like him!

  • respect

  • this guys hat and sunglasses are leet

  • I always listen, I see it for months, but I never tired! ...

    (Is the combination Mozart-Gulda)

    Immortals!

  • is he dead? when????

  • January 2000

  • thanks for the information, is sad...

  • leet

  • the Cadenza??? Is it Beethoven's?

  • Yes. This is Beethoven's cadenza.

  • GULDA NO HAMUERTO PARA MI...

  • how nice to specialize n a given musician and do it well. This guy and his orchestra are just mesmerizing. Fantastic. Phew!

  • Big, extravagant PERSONALITY, LIKE MOZART

(AT '90, BELIEVED DEAD EVEN ...) GULDA is unsurpassed. HE LIKE ALSO JAZZ MUSIC

    BRAVO

  • I read that he was Argerich's teacher for a while. Is this true? If it is, I can certainly hear him in her i.e. sort of direct aproach to the playing without frills, that can come across as aggressive at times. But I like it marvellously.

  • BRAVO...ausgezeichnet!

  • Fantastic. I've played the first movement only in a concert in the UK but this guy has the natural talent, and attention to detail to be able to play and conduct at the same time. Wonderful.

  • I prefer Mitsuko Uchida's interpretation.

  • the one who shouts BRAVO! at the end is my dad, or at least he told me so. he was in this audience and is a great lover of gulda (so am I)...and he couldn't hold it back :-D magnificient clearness and power withour loosing the deep feeling!!

  • what a difficult task to decide which one is prettier if piano concerto 20 or 21,despite the famous theme of elvira madigan of number 21,i think I´ll stick with this one specially for that second movement ,i like gulda's style, long live mozart

  • Contragulations for all the concerto !

  • The responses on these videos make me want to stop studying classical music and return to shooting up morphine.

  • No, please go on with your study! Gulda was genius, Mozart too, but now they're dead. The world need new musicians - like you. ;-)

  • and notice this very rondo set off a chain. This (structurally) served as a basis to the Rondo of Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto, which later served as a large structural model for the Rondo to the Brahms D Minor.

  • that only guy that yelled BRAVO!

lol.. he's the only fan of this ^^

when Yundi li played in my city.. i was the only one to yell bravo when he played Grande Polonaise Brilliant

  • Virgen Santa, Gulda, ¿cómo eres -fuiste- tan bueno?

  • L'enfant terrible, bravo*****~~

  • ha, and you have anime videos in your favorites. nice try at looking cool though

  • I should honestly say that he's one of the greatest interpreters of Mozart ever.

  • It's interesting how Mozart in the B-section (of ABACBA) combines D Minor with D Major, leaving the listener confused.

If there's any part that's too fast, it's the coda; it should be in the same tempo as the main section...

  • great interpretations proof music has no limit, Beethoven's cadenza, Mozart harmony... remember the Zauberfloete Pamina Sarastro duett is it love as lovers or father daughter? and just think... deep someonte told me jstly watch Mozart has no depth but he forgot this concert and some other works a kid having divine thoughts is God's intervention directly and it shows Goulda is daring to show it

  • at 2:23 is a cadenza - everybody may do what he likes to but most of pianists play the given cadenza from other famous pianists - sometimes its from the composer hisself ;-)

  • What is going on at 2:23? Improvisation, cool, memory lapse. I like the coolness with which he handles it. Gulda rules. Check out his Beethoven sonatas.

    Thanks for posting this clip.

  • I like it, but I think it is too fast.

I prefer the interpretation of by Maria Joao Pires also here in youtube.

  • but you know that this is Allegro assai, so he is justified to play it this quickly, unlike if it were Allegro non troppo (which I believe Mozart NEVER used)...

  • It's impossible for us, in the 21st century, to place ourselves back in Vienna in February 1785, and imagine just how extraordinarily original this music was at the time. The audience must've sat with their mouths hanging open in astonishment as Mozart's premiered this piece.

  • lol, I thought he looked like Larry David too :D

    Great performance. Great music.

  • what did he say at the end?

  • Something to the effect that he was a little sweaty and that the black shirt, appropriate for a D minor peice like K.466 was not for the next major-keyed performance, therefore he was going to freshen up and change out of that shirt during intermission. More exact translations are in older comments.

  • thanks buddy.

  • he really enjoys playing,to the extent that he adds some extra notes on it

  • BRAVOO !!!!

  • 2 tguiot :

    thanx for lovin my vid..

    surely is interpretation importand ..

but today exist only interpretation ..

and mozart wouldnt like this filosophy

of makin music - for sure not !!!

  • for sure this would be great if we could learn classical improvisation again in conservatories, along with interpretation... we know all great composers were great improvisers themselves, why abandon this side of making music ?

so i totally agree on that point, but i would still not leave aside interpretation

  • Mozart was a genius and his music was not understood all the time especially the last works of his life ! this concerto is qualified of Sturm und Drang style. Sturm und Drang is precursor of romantism. This interpretation is very fantastic .

  • you can't really hear the dinamics all that well

  • I wonder what that noise Gulda made at the beginning is, and why it made one of the violinists smile...

  • I think he was just wiping the sweat from his brow. I sure would.....geez!

  • I think he was just wiping the sweat from his brow.....I sure would....geez!

  • Who´s the guy on the Piano? And what´s his religion??
