  • Wit do u mean? Just asking

  • Snappy tunes for a throat cutting

  • some like that happened in 1000 ways to die but the guy died i think it was this but 1000 ways to die changed it a little

  • ssshhhhiiiittt

  • Was that blood all over the ice or not?

  • @Oipeeepwns

    Are you retarded?

  • I quit playing hockey after I saw this. And it was sad bein the only black guy in da team. My coach was pissed but I told him I'm not dying for dis Damn sport. This is why I play Soccer

  • @Jmonkeyman96 yo im with u man...... i dont play hockey i play basket ball and soccer...

  • did he die???

  • OMG i just started like sweating for some reason!

    This is so freaky!

I was like Cringeing in my chair watching that...

  • This is some crazy shit my cousin had a similar injury but only lost half as much as that guy did

  • holy fuck i started to coldsweat

  • I was like, they are not going to show the blood or anything like that, then i was like HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!

  • @PeachCombatArms RIGHT YOU ARE! I must commend this player for staying calm though, because shock can speed up the process and kill people. Quick reactions saved this man!

  • thank goodness the guy's ok!

  • Exactly why I don't play hockey

  • Malarchuk somehow left the ice under his own power with the assistance of his team's trainer, Jim Pizzatelli. Many spectators were physically sickened by the sight with seven fainting and two suffering heart attacks.

I was not there but this is what it says on google.

  • Life saved by quick trainer

  • I don't think he even felt it, he was in shock and no he didn't die. If a human loses more than 2 Litres of blood, then you die. Luckily he didn't lose 2 Litres of blood, he lost about 500ml - 1L

  • Did he die?

  • @wiltsmith100 Nah

  • I felt a bit strange when I clicked the "I like" button....I also noticed that it's a Blue's player who helped the doctor to get to the scene and this Blue's guy was skating really fast! But hockey players aren't as stupid as everyone thinks. The guy from the Blues knew some serious shit was going on.

  • he is lucky.

  • @DavidVillaFan2010 Yes and no. Yes because he could have easily died (ok you knew that I'm sure) but no because Malarchuk pinched his artery and he was able to stop the blood from squirting.

  • @domdom111111 Well besides this guy, who would have the reactions to immediately get out on the ice and pinch the artery right away?

  • @DavidVillaFan2010 You're right. But the main factor that kept Clint alive is that he didn't seem to panic. He certainly understood that he was in great danger but he reacted calmly, find out the artery and pinched it.

  • @domdom111111 Yeah if I were him I would have no idea what to do. I would probably think of pinching it or something but I wouldn't react quick enough.

  • @domdom111111 i think shock set in as soon as it happened

  • @DavidVillaFan2010 The guy (The Medic) was a pre-Veitnam Medic with years of training, thats why

(No im not making this up go google it)

  • @x30xSabresFan I know that.

  • Love tha Kenny G smooth Jazz in tha background ta keep tha fans in smooth spirits..remember this as a kid n Vegas...

  • This is horrific.

  • 4 minute minor

  • Urg, that looked like fun >.<

  • my neck feels funny...

  • Ahhh, the day I bought my Buick Riviera.

    Nastolgia < )

  • i just got my neck cut with a skate im a goalie too it missed my jugular by a hair

  • He's glad he's not a pontiac. airbus this is why..wear the gear.

  • That trainer is the man.

  • shit

  • Pizzutelli is a Vietnam vet. medic and he's the greatest sabre as far as I'm concerned.

  • were a neckguard so this doesent happen

  • @soniccammy they didnt have neckgaurds back then dumbass

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes he lived.

  • "Buick Riviera. When cutting your throat isn't enough."

  • Buick!

  • did he live

  • @bergy41rox Well if he didn't DIe...

  • did he died

  • @rokema2782 no, he didnt

  • I remember when I was a kid and I was playing hockey in an organised league, the neck protector was mandatory. The fact that's not mandatory in the NHL will lead eventually to another accident like this one and Zednik's one. Will Gary Bettman will wait until a player dies on the ice to made it mandatory?

  • sscary shit and he did survive it was a minor cut from the looks there are many jugular veins which he didnt cut which was amazing

  • @TheTrickster626 he survived but that was really serious. if the trainer hadn't been a former medic in vietnam odds are he would have died. also if the blade had cut half an inch higher he would have died in 2 minutes without question.

  • @swissbird101 Why did you reply to me after 8 months :P yeah and i know what you said is true but it was pretty minor he is more or less VERY LUCKY there would be a HUGE puddle of blood in seconds but its a good job he knew what to do slightly pull his neck down so the blood was decreasing coming out

  • bet he wore a neck protector after thisO_o

  • bet he wore a neck protector after thisO_o

  • he cut his juguler open!

  • just watcing it makes my neck tingle!!!!!!!

  • he cut hes aorta .. a large artery.. call me Dr.Lyric

  • Did he ever get back into the hockey?

  • omg that is so horrible!

    how did he survive

  • @snitches2442 Google hes name, the whole thing is written in wikipedia. I just read it, damn ... he was lucky. Good hes okay tho -.-'

  • men he survived -.-

  • well, now the goalie mask's is maked so you dont need that plastic "shield"

  • just when you least expect it BUICK OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE

  • was that fatal?

  • nah the doc was a medic from vietnam...he stopped the blood, so the keeper is safe

  • I am a goalie and I play 2nd year Bantam. I have a neck guard attatched to my chest protecter (via velcro), a separate neck gaurd, and a plastic shield. I wear all of that just because of this (kind of....). When my coach told me I should try taking off the plastic shield to try it without it, I was like: F*** NO!!!

  • @airbusandmustang dude, no matter wut you do, never take off htat plastic shield....when i was in 1st year bantams, my coach took a slapshot at my goalie from the blue line next to the boards and the puck hit the goalie in the neck and split his neck guard in 2.

id take the 2 velcro guards off but keep that plastic one on

  • @lacrossemaster31 I still keep all neck guards on... just for safety. Wow, can't believe I wrote that comment 9 months ago. I wrote that just after I got my girlfriend pregnant. Now I have a baby boy! Just kidding, lol. And cool, I got 10 thumbs up on it.

  • @airbusandmustang Those wouldn't help if a skate came up and hit you in the neck, those don't help, i know because it happened to me

( Not like this ^^^ but i was cut, not fun )

And why would your coach tell you to take it off? Mt Coachs for years tried to get me to wear more, why was he trying to make you take it off?

  • i got his autgraph at ph his throat is messed up

  • is it just me or did i see a cut a 0:30

  • yeah... its a cut on his neck! theres blood every where!... im impressed that he is alive

  • holey fuck that would hurt!

  • them be some freshly sharpened blades

    :o

  • WHY DID SOMEONE SHOW ME THIS

  • i play hockey there is no fucking neckbrace!!!!!!!!

  • He means neck protector. HECC approved neck protectors are mandatory in youth USA hockey and in canada too I think. They don't demand them at drop ins. though.

  • @jurkis1 Yeah, neck protectors are mandatory in Canada too. If you don't have you get kicked out of the game.

  • yo that has to hurt man

  • he wasn't wearing his neckbrace. im shocked the let him play without it.

  • This is the reason they inforced the neckbrace rule.

  • Yeah, goalies didn't start wearing neck protectors until after this incident.

  • i don't think neckgaurds are enforced at any level above minor hockey. I know they are optional in Junior, and optional in the NHL. The only NHL goalie who I've noticed wears one is Toskala

  • They actually used sawdust from rink entrance area to help stop the bleeding.

  • did gameplay continue after this?

  • Yes

  • So what actually happened? It didn't look like anyone's blade made contact with his neck on this or any of the other replays.

  • It was Steve Tuttle's skate that made the contact with Malarchuk's neck. But as horrific as this is, Malarchuk survived. Bengt Åkerblom was not so lucky in 1995.

  • Someone there really knew what to do by pinching the artery,

  • he returned to practice 4 days afterwards after only one night in hospital. very lucky guy to still be alive

  • The medic guy who slid out there held his jugular together with his fingers while they took him to the hospital.

  • Kinda makes me want to buy a Buick Riviera.

  • Kinda makes me want to slit my throat

  • How so?

  • sawdust has a type of salt in it to help the blood clot and congeal fast it can help

  • @dpod66 lol

  • @dpod66 haha

  • @dpod66 hahah

  • wow u are fucking stupid it didnt happen on friday the 13th duh my dad was there

  • this was on friday the 13

  • vietnam medic saved his life

  • That and the luck of Malarchuk's being at the end of the Aud where the exit was (the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium only had one exit---behind the goal where Malarchuk was). If he was at the other end, Malarchuk would have died.

  • what the fuck! that was horrible!

  • Holy crap lucky they had that medic to stop the arteries flow

  • i'm wondering if the players were able to play after that.. how could you focus?? i just about threw up watching it..

  • warning graphic scene not for kids!!!!!!

  • dude ur the shit

  • shut up skillage444 no kids should watch this you should be ashamed!!!!!!

  • dang he took one to the throat

they said later the paramtic saved his life by choking him by grabbing his throat so hard

  • yeah, i saw this on sport science, the guy came out and went inside his throat and pinched the vein closed

  • when did ths happen

  • Comment removed

  • bloody hell.. damn

  • he survived... thank God...

  • He survived

god was watching over him that day

  • is he dead or what???? i need to know

  • nah you dont

  • He's not dead. In fact, he accidentally shot himself with his shotgun last year (in the neck, no less!). He's...uh...a rather lucky, but unlucky individual.

  • omfg... i feel sorry for him wit all da blood gushing out!!!

  • oh my god i feel so bad for him, im pretty sure it must have been a skate.

  • After that goalies got the plastic neck protector

  • holy shit

  • holy crap, i saw that when i was a kid but not from that angle

  • huh? it didnt happen THAT long ago...

  • this happened like 20 years ago.

  • oh...i heard about this around july...

  • It happened on March 22, 1989.

  • ......ouch

  • if the skate went 1/8 of an inch deeper into the neck he would be dead right now

  • fuck thats nasty

  • omg thats reli scary, he is so lucky

  • UNlucky, you mean? lol

  • he is lucky because he didnt die!

  • True. . . I would still say having something like that happen in the first place is rather unlucky, though. haha

  • holy fuck that was so fucken bad.....i hope that does not happen to me

  • holy freaken shit!!!!!!!!!! thats horribile god must love him to let him live through that

  • NASTY, but y was a buick radio commercial on??

  • live feed tv camera on but at comercial

  • holy shit dude that was fuckin crazy

  • omfg wow,

  • wow

    thats a total crashdown

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This accident was explained on TV God Bless this hockey player, the man that rushed to his AID in the white shirt was a Vietnam medical doctor. He stated if he had not been there; where the player was cut so much blood would have withdrawn his body he could have been dead within 2 minutes.

  • That is damn lucky, makes you wondering if there is a god that is looking out for us

  • No it doesn't, it makes you realize that it's good to always have someone with you who have experience with medicine.

  • Oh my god that poor guy. Thank god he survived.

  • wow thats freaky

  • that is soo sad and nasty. i couldnt immagine the peaple in the auidience.!
