@nin131 No, they wouldn't. In the regulated conditions of an MMA fight, and against a fighter who doesn't use the same style (!) these guys would look cool but probably not stand a chance. Please realize that all you're seeing here is sparring between two practicioners of the same art. It holds no implications about their chances in the very linear, brute and mechanical regulated form of fighting that MMA, UFC and so on represent. Agility isn't everything.

@nin131 I have seen him barely winning by points against some noname kickboxer. Is that supposed to prove that he is superior to people like Brock Lesnar? You realize that all a UFC fighter would have to accomplish would be to take this trick jumper to the ground and the fight would be over. Hell, Shafiq would probably fall on his back by himself trying to perform some skill kick while the other guy just stomps all over him.

jajaaj man, this video just shows training, not real combat, and this "trick jumper" has enough ground fighting knowledge to fight any mma fighter...and even the MMA has rules! put this man in the street with any other fighter and will break his arm or leg at first chance...if you're talking about rules, i could say no mma fighter can defeat a sumo fighter with sumo rules but that has no sense...and kung fu has a lot of ground fight!!

A Sumo fighter will always win Sumo fights and a Taekwondo fighter like Shafiq will beat anyone in a Taekwondo match. That should go without saying!

But what I'm talking about is who would win in a fight with very basic rules that allow the moves from both fighting styles? There any martial artist will beat a Sumo fighter because Sumo fighters are untrained in punching and kicking while other arts include these.

@SuckItLily Well in that case kung fu has a lot of ground techniques...it's just that the rules of standar kung fu tournaments doesn't allow that stuff...and i haven't seen any kung fu fighter trained to fight with mma rules...and the very "basic" mma rules are quite strict ones...it's not as free as it appears...it doesn't reflects a real fight, not even close. Besides, advanced kung fu training includes stuff far beyond fighting a man in a cage; is focused on health and so...

Hola, esta muy lindo la practica y estimulo que sigan practicando en Afganistán, pero lleguemos aun acuerdo; esto no es Kung FU, es Taekwondo, la diferencia entre los sistemas es notable, el Taekwondo es un deporte, sin embargo el Kung fu en su presentación pura no es un deporte si no un sistema de combate real. en la ultima parte hacen una demostración de un sistema de defensa medio extraño, no se que pueda ser, también se ve casi inofensivo, me deja confundido esto!

@Jason66601 Not quite, I'm afraid you're wrong. He is Ehsan Shafiq. He has fought Taekwondo and Karate fighters under the name of Shaolin Kung fu. Besides, the front basic punches may looks like Karate or TKD but it's not, look at 1:58 . That is the Kung Fu salute followed by the forms. And around 1:55 you can see the movements he execute are not exactly TKD or Karate. Also the extremely high kicks that require great flexibility. This are Kung Fu styles.
