@andrben Canon HG21 Camera with a wide angle adapter. I used an adjustable clamp called "The 3rd Arm" and a drum clamp to get the camera up as close to the ceiling as possible, Thanks!
@TheXrythmicXtongue Check out Guitar centers websites in the used section. THey have over 200 stores to feed used gear from. You can always find GOOD cymbal deals there. :) I just got a 50's a 20" ride for $59 so seriously check it out !
@darthjoey13 Are you micing both the top and bottom? if you are then make sure you flip the phase of the bottom mic. This will eliminate the phasing problems that result in a flat or dead sounding snare drum. In this video im only using overheads and a kick mic.... so I would say that the drum is tuned well, and the Earthworks are damn good microphones . :)
@michaelcurtisjr I only mic the top. It's probably that I have been using $50(per pair) condensers so I am picking up a poor overhead sound. Do you know any good OH condensers that are a little less pricy than Earthworks? I am on a high school student's budget.
@darthjoey13 If you can find them used... Peavey made a really cool condenser very similar to the Earthworks in design and sound. The model is a PVR-1, otherwise look for Omni pattern small diaphragm condensers. I would look on Guitar Centers website in the used recording section. They have some stupid deals in there very often. If you find something let me know ill put in my 2cents before you spend your money :)
@namawon nothing to be jelous of :) I have been collecting cymbals for many many years. They define our sound and allow us to bring many textures to the table..... I just bought another one too I won't have until august :)
@michaelcurtisjr I hate my electronic kit. The triggers are terrible. I want to get a new one but I am broke. Maybe I will try to record something at our practice space now that I have my camera back. We will see. Anyway I always look forward to your vids. I want my drums to sound that good....
WOW!! unbelievable sound. the mix is superb, your playing is beyond superb. very very inspiring man.. if it wasn't so late right now id jump on the drums!

Your snare sounds great. How do you get it like that? I am finding that no matter what I do with mics, my snare sounds kind of empty. Yours has body.
