great video but may i suggest that you make them a bit thinner. Its a good surfboard thickness but way to thick for skimboards.

Even after reading the Surfer Steve book im still a little confused. I was going to add some art work but i wasn't sure when I should do it. I was planning on painting the blank with latex paint then adding 2 coats of epoxy and fiber glass on bottom and 2 on top. I would then add a design on top then finally seal it with a final fiberglass coat. Is this the apropriate method or can I add the art before glassing the deck? Will it still show up clearly after the 3 coats?

the length of brd is usaly your foot to your waist and he width of the bord is your sholder to where your nuckles

When Glassing, and adding the sheets, do you add one at a time and do the adhesive, or all three sheets on top add the adhesive, and then the bottom two?

do bottom coat first and make sure you do rail to, the d as many coats as you want raping it around the rails and then your last layer/coat/cloth what ever shl be the top and dont do the rails

i recomand yuu buy the zap, the cost is you can probly make tw for the cost of one but youll make atleast one mistake on your first bored so if your not planning on making alot then buy the zap cause you get it then ride

if you want a 3 inch long snowboard plus snoboards need two things that surfboards and skimboards dont

1.flex (wood core etc.)

2. metal edges, without them you will not be able to turn

Hey im on my second try and the first time I used a bondo body filler for the bottom. The guy at home depot said it was fiberglass resin but that wasn't true. So i tried it but it still melted my board. know im using a marine epoxy. So before i use it do you know if Marine Epoxy will melt the foam.

yeah, marine epoxy resin won't melt the foam. that's what you need. and rubber gloves and stuff to work with it.

check out some surfboard glassing videos first, and get an idea for what you gotta do. skimboard's just smaller...

to ur third question a wooden board doesn't ride better in waves. Foam core boards are more buoyant then wooden ones. They ride better than woodies in deeper water and wooden boards tend to get stuck under waves and under sand so they can get lost in the water.

That's a nice effort on your part, PatioMendino. If you are thinking about making more boards, I would definately look into more advanced techniques and better materials. Try using a rocker table to put the rocker into the board, consider vacuum bagging, PVC foam for the core, etc. Skimboards typically go through much more abuse than surfboards, so they require better construction than dated surfboard methods/materials.
