japan looks so gray (and cold). maybe it's just the winter season, or the particular videos i've watched (yours & some other people's too)? for some reason i would have expected japan to be greener. are there many trees growing in the cities? didn't see many... i'm honestly not seeing much to distinguish osaka or tokyo from an american city. does that make sense? probably just a superficial impression... i'm sure it has to be somewhat different!

@lamaddussa osaka and tokyo are not rural. highly industrial areas usually have alot of air pollution hence grey hues. as for your other comment I am not sure what your sources are but they might be a bit dated as they do not reflect the current ethos.

this video reminded me of someone i knew years ago who had lived in japan. she said that on particular days the citizens would discard unwanted belongings (maybe just electronic stuff?) on the streets or alleys, and the foreigners would run over and take what they wanted, which was, for some reason, frowned upon by the japanese. does that still happen? on a related note, can foreigners still save money working in japan? i'm getting the impression from your vids that those days may be gone...

It has been nearly 14 years since I was in Osaka, but it doesn't look like it has changed all that much. Is Montana the Dinosaur still at the turnoff to Ame-mura? (There was a life-sized T-Rex on top of the building with the word "Montana" in big letters). Did you check out the underground food and shopping area under Namba station? That was a favorite of mine, there was a great tonkatsu restaurant under there. I also remember the biting cold in winter!
