  • Wait, does that mean philosophers were... THE Patriots?

  • @xCoolguy101x

Not really. The Philosophers Ended but when the Patriots were formed, the person forming then (not naming due to spoilers) thought of it as the continuation as the philosophers.

  • Does anyone know what the name of the soundtrack is from 0:00 - 4:00 ?

IF there is a soundtrack of it

  • i need the song in this part , probably an unreleased ...

  • @mgsryder

his real name is John, as stated by Kojima. Jack is a nickname for John.

  • @Zirror yep john is another name to for jack

  • @hyperundead mgs1? you mean solid snake? his name is david.

  • Why isn't this background music in their official Soundtrack? Does anyone know where I can get it? Or is it impossible...

  • I wonder if they would make another Metal Gear Solid and the main character is the boss in WWII with the Cobra units

  • @za2ed00z I hope so, but that'll probably not happen.. :(

  • John a.k.a Big Boss/Naked Snake (MGS3)

Jack a.k.a Raiden/Jack (MGS2) adopted son of solidus snake the 3rd son of bigboss

David a.k.a Solid Snake (MGS1/MGS4) clone of bigboss and also twin brother of liquid.

  • what i dont undaerstand is the invasin of normandy..... women wertn aloud in the war ???? pleaz explan

  • @heeropat

Please stay in school and pay attention in history class you moron

  • Boss is sounding more and more like Olga. :P

Argh, but I still don't 100& get the deal with the Philosiphers. So they died in 1930... then who are the Patriots in MGS2? I know it explains it here... somehow. I just need smaller words. :D

By the way if I need to play MGS4 to fully understand please just say that and no spoilers.

  • .... play MGS4.... now. ^_^

  • Heh. I would if I could.

  • @renoo27 There are spoilers in my response, so don't read any further just in case:

Major Zero obtained the Philosopher's Legacy and used its money to found the Patriots with Snake and the rest of the team from Operation Snake Eater. They both tried to achieve The Boss' wishes with The Patriots, but differing interpretations of her meanings caused problems.

  • only that the patriots were not formed with solid snake in it,just so anybody knows it was NAKED snake or big boss as we know him that we played as in the mgs3.that's why in mgs 4 he was the only with one eye.the boss the only thing i don't get is which one did the boss give birth to?was it solid snake and liquid with genetics from the boss and big boss?i don't know help me out!haven't played mgs 4 either.....

  • By Snake I meant Naked Snake, that's why I said the REST of the team from Snake Eater. ALso, The Boss didn't give birth to any of the clones, she gave birth to Ocelot.

  • yeah actually my bad about the birth part i found it out from some comments.BUT i'm sure there is a father-son relationship in the game.didn't the scientists take big boss' cells or something and cloned solid snake and liquid?only that liquid got everything that was bad from big boss' cells?enlighten me please.

  • Yeah, Zero got some DNA from Big Boss and made three clones using EVA as a surrogate mother, Liquid and Solid were "twins," Solid got the recessive genes and Liquid got the dominant genes, however, they were always told the oposite. I'm not sure about Solidus, I think he was born independently from the other two clones.

  • all right thank you i got it now.Solidus is a different story which i'm not so interested to find out.thank for all the info.now i only need to find wtf happens in mgs 2 with snake and raiden.First of all why is the colonel NOT with snake?and why did he call raiden "snake" in the beginning?is it a "title" for the man who carries out missions like that?

  • they change there name to the patriots if you played mgs2 there ais there is a seret ending in mgs2 and 3 that tells you sorry if that was spoiler i dont think so.

  • the boss is my favourite character from mgs3 not because she is the perfect soldier but because above from that she is a very nice person who dislikes war and says many thruths about it!!!!!

  • Boss is right... we're all humans at the end of the day. We're all the same, but we're divided by our countries and nations we grow up in. Our society drills in to us that other countries are evil, war is natural etc. And as Carl Sangan once said: " An organism at war with itself is doomed."

  • omg !!!that skeloton at 4:30 is the sorrow?

u can see that when snake is healing himself after the boss bent his arm by pressing R1 and moving to the left after he washes down the river holy shit!! i didnt realize it was him!!!!

  • The baby that the Boss was talkin about is actually ocelot who is the son of the boss and the sorrow.

  • wait how do u know that?

  • When you contact eva, she says that ocelot is the son of a legendary hero who gave birth at the battlefield and volgin only knew that ocelot is the boss's son and becomes a GRU commander.

  • yeah, Snake gets it mixed up and thinks that it was the father who was the legendary hero.

  • @raidian95 how did you know that ? i never found out his story !

  • @7osnia

You find out through a hidden codec conversation about Ocelot. They don't directly say that The Boss is his mother, but they did say he was born in a battlefield, and that his mom had a scar shaped like a snake.

  • is snake called john or jack

  • I think his name is John and Jack is a nickname.

  • I know now snake calls himself john to adamska ( ocelot ) but he is really called jack look at the scene look at snakes face when he says john >:)

  • Jack is a sometimes seen as a common nickname for people named John. In 'Scent of a Woman', the al pacino film, Pacino's character jokes about this whilst asking for some 'John Daniels'. claiming that when you've known Jack Daniels as long as he has, John is more appropriate.

  • awesome, very smart, would this be based on the same year, was the film based in the cold war?

  • Not even close. The film's set in the early 90's or late eighties, and Pacino's character is a retired blind veteran. The fact still stands, though, and some people see the two names as interchangable.

  • cool

  • @Dragonarh No, exactly, Jack is a nickname right but when Snake said John to Ocelot, it's a reference to "John Doe" who means " No name".

Actualy we dont know the name of Big Boss.

  • @cgsmitherine3 no jack is his real name... john was a name he gave to ocelot he even smiled :) i think... the boss said jack as well and not john ;)

  • @mgsRyder But Jack is another name for John... Technically John isn't his real name... He doesn't even know his real name...

  • You know what's kinda funny, that these long cutscenes actually teach you more than in a regular history class.

  • The son of the Boss is Revolver Ocelot.

  • Comment removed

  • where is the son of the boss?

  • "Is there really such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? There is no such thing, and never has been. And the reason? Our enemies are human beings like us." So much insight!! Wonderful game.

  • There is no enmity between us... one must die... and one must live

  • sad, so sad..full of sorrow..and you are one of them.

    -The Sorrow-

  • First game to ever make me sad =/

  • so sad
