The ideas of two different gods or better yet lords, is described in the book of job. It is a trial where the duality or conflict of who the lord is, is confusing. Meaning who is right. There are the believers is Jesus, the followers of traditions for example and there are the disciples of Jesus - those who truly and sincerely follow his teachings - but for this kind of spiritual guidance we need not go so far back. There are even today, living masters and teachers of the eternal truths pointed to by all masters.

With science people are free to study the hypothesis of others, test them, and decide based on the results they observed themselves. That might be a reason the other gospels were rejected off hand, since the apostles couldn't have possibly written them. Just a thought.
