  • Do you bake the bread at 425 F ???

  • last st pats day i made a mess in the bathroom

  • @hotdog1997 Yea you could. To make 250 ml (1 cup), you can use 5 ml (1 tsp) of lemon juice or vinegar with enough milk to make the 250 ml and let it rest 5 minutes.

  • nice eyes

  • mine comes out with teeth breaking crust and an inside thats all gooey

  • @jadeicetiger Then lower the temperature of your oven.

  • that 12, not 8

  • Is the Socialist Fist with a fork a political statement?

  • @UnixCommando Haha maybe. But thenagain if you're thinking of communism, the fist has no object in it. Though you did make an interesting remark, hmmm "working class" + the fist. I highly doubt there is any connexion, just a coincidence I suppose.

  • For me you a five star rank. You are plain and simple. Simplicity is always the best. Thank you and thank you again.

  • I love what you guys are doing! Well done!

  • LOVE YOUR RECIPIES AND THE ADDING HOW MUCH IS BASIC COST TO MAKING IT AT HOME WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED ELECTRIC TOO.........HOW MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE IT IS NOW.....that PRICE IS NOT like restaurant because cost of restaurant and the workers.bakers, cleaning ,waitress ,cost of rent restaurant and run it......that is completly different price....

  • Thanks for this recipe, i prepare St.Patrick's Day Party and this is very helpful.

  • @reverseflush: What would ever make you think that someone of one nationality was unable to make a dish from some other nation? That's what videos like this are all about!!! Regardless of the outcome of the recipe, the idea here is global sharing!!! If you think you have the "authentic" Irish soda bread recipe, let's see it. We'd all be happy to try it. If you don't like what you see here, go to another channel. Just like TV!!!

  • I made Irish soda bread for the first time this year. You score the top of the bread to release steam to prevent the interior of the bread from being doughy. While I prefer yeast bread, ISB seems the practical alternative when in a simple living scenario, i.e., camping, hiking, survival.

  • Try searching for this. river cottage every day bread

  • you mixed the dough far to much

  • sorry but i'm from northern Ireland and that is nothing like soda bread I've ever eaten

maybe it's a variant from southern Ireland

  • @tdimccullough - Same here, unfortunately. I'm from N.Ireland and if somebody put that in front of me and asked me what it was, soda bread would be the last thing I'd think of...

  • Becca is the cutest.

  • LOL I love Humphrey, he's always staring aimlessly at the food

  • Have you ever tried using self-rising flour? Does it work ?

  • I don't like soda bread, I hate coca cola bread as well.

  • I think im going to try this out one time this year...I'm Irish and have never had Irish Soda Bread before.

  • She doesn't look Irish to me. That's typical just like walking into a genuine Italian restaurant and seeing that the chef is Mexican. Mmm..100% Pure Artificial

  • @Reverseflush You're right, I'm not Irish. But this also isn't an Irish cooking show...we've done everything from Mexican tacos de lengua to Irish soda bread to my great-aunt's apple cake and Belgian-style mussels. Good food is good food, ethnicity and nationality have nothing to do with it. :)

  • @HungryNation

You are right.. Food brings people together, so, why not have good food. :)

    Peace Love and Happiness

  • @HungryNation Hunh

    LOL next!

  • @freakyflow

You answering to a comment I placed 7 months ago?

    LOL!

  • @Reverseflush i didn't read it 7 months ago. But i'm sure your wise wisdom hasn't changed since then

  • @freakyflow

    Oh.

    Think outside the box.

  • @Reverseflush So your genetics cause you to make recipies better? Great thinking genius.

  • @travman1987

No my genetic help me be a better athlete because i'm black. A black Russian. Blesss youu dumpling

  • @Reverseflush So your genetics cause you to make a recipe better? Great thinking genius.

  • @Reverseflush What exactly does Irish look like in your opinion? You are truly ignorant! I bet you are one of those idiots that believes red hair, pale skin, and freckles is what Irish people look like. Yes, I see you morons every day! The truth is, most Irish people have brown hair! Can you deal with that? It's a fact! Red hair is in fact NOT that common in the Irish race! I'm Irish, and I have brown hair! Besides, why does this girl need to be Irish to make Irish food?! You need an education!

  • @3sheetz2thawind

    My name is Reverseflush.

I never said anything bad about anyone.

My art is to draw anger out of people. You are worse and you yourself proved it to me what you are.

Enjoying it. i win. BTW I won the 184,000,000 million dollar jackpot yesterday for Powerball in Florida.

    How does that feel?

  • @Reverseflush Lmao! Why are you telling me you won money?! I don't give a fuck! LOL! You are a fucking JOKE!!!

  • @Reverseflush BOOM!! You got BURNED!!

  • @Reverseflush This is the most idiotic comment I've ever seen.

  • hey you two! i just wanted to say my favourite thing about your shows is that you guys show what the absolute basics are in the recipes and then you go back and show the ingreedients we can play with or exchange. its really helpful and inspiring, thanks so much!

  • @katerbuggfly Thanks for the great feedback, Kaitlin!

  • from where do u buy your flower? thanks

  • @napster180 You can find King Arthur flour - which is the best commercial flour, IMO - at most grocery stores. If you live in NYC, I also recommend looking into the flours made by Cayuga Pure Organics, from upstate NY.

  • gave it a good rating :]

  • Verry nice eyes. :)

  • what a great recipe!!!! Can't wait to this!

  • it looks so good

  • I like to add dried cranberries and currants and serve it with honey butter

  • Whores' Coddle. Sausage, bacon, potatoe, vegetable stock, and a bit of parsley. Cook it all together till the potatoes start to crumble when touched. Smoked bacon is best for this. Excelent for a cold morning or any time you need comfort food. Particularly good with your soda bread.

n.b. Make sure you cook all your meat thoroughly before adding it to the stewing pot.

  • shes so pretty. this is 2nd vid

  • plz i need the gramms an ml digits

  • I love it with fried chicken and baked beans.

  • Good recipe but to me there should be a handful of raisins just to a a bit of good flavor.

  • its kinda sad that in north america people refer to traditional flour as "all purpose"....

  • Actually Irish people so poor what eat only potatoes

  • I just made this bread but instead of using only plain white flour i used one half each wholemeal and plain flour.

  • I loved this recipe! It was very easy and went real well with the corned beef and cabbage!

  • a bunch of my friends & I made this for St.Patricks Day. It's was really good.

  • If you change the proportions just a little, and add some lard/butter, you have a very basic biscuit recipe. The very recipe I use at least once a week!

  • loved it

  • My friend and I made this bread on St. Patty's, and we added rosemary and minced garlic to the dough. We agreed it was the best bread we've ever had! Thanks for the recipe. :)

  • I'm so THRILLED that traditional soda bread doesn't have raisins and seeds. I hate breads and cookies with fruit and/or seeds in them (it's a texture issue). I'm also glad you don't have to cut a crapload of butter into it. XD

  • How can I substitute BUTTERMILK??

  • @lexmembrana Stir 1 Tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar into 1 cup of milk...let it sit 10 minutes, and the milk will curdle into buttermilk.

  • @lexmembrana make your own butter milk lemon juice and regular old milk

  • @lexmembrana water

  • @lexmembrana or regular milk

  • @lexmembrana

one way is to use milk, and add a little vinegar. Just google substitute buttermilk. look around you'll find it.

  • @lexmembrana The buttermilk has more acid. Normal milk doesn't react as well so you can't use it directly. Here are some conversions:

    • 1 cup buttermilk = 1 cup yogurt

    • 1 cup buttermilk = 1 cup milk + 1 TBSP vinegar or lemon juice (let stand for 10 minutes before using in recipe)

    • 1 cup buttermilk = 1 cup milk + 1-3/4 Tsp cream of tartar

  • @lexmembrana Sour Cream usually... Other than that like if you're lactose intolerant, then IDK. You'd have to do research, but it may not turn out.

  • @lexmembrana use regular milk and add vinegar or lemon juice. For every cup of milk, add 1 TBS white vinegar or lemon juice. Good luck.

  • @lexmembrana

    Why?

  • @lexmembrana 1. Place a Tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice in a liquid measuring cup.

    2. Add enough milk to bring the liquid up to the one-cup line.

    3. Let stand for five minute. Then, use as much as your recipe calls for.

  • Great recipe for St. Patrick's Day!

  • What is that book "MEAT"?

  • What's the best way to contact you? Is there an email address? I still want to send you the wonton recipe, but can't find a place to do it.

  • So i just made this bread tonight! It was 1 hour after watching this vid, it was so easy, and tasty! Im taking it with me and my friends to our local river for a St. patty's day piknik!

  • Someone please tell me the name of the first song, it sounds hilarious.

  • I love the show! You guys are so helpful! Oh and I love your dog!!

  • What is exactly buttermilk? And what can it be substituted with? I appreciate if anyone helps. Thank you.

  • Milk with a little vinegar mixed in, and let it sit. That's what I use for my four-ingredient recipe.

  • Great show!!!!!!!! I never miss it.

  • I make corn-beef and cabbage. A classic for sure. Along with some red pots, and your booze of choice its a tasty meal with lots of leftovers.

  • Cornbread! Easy to make and delicious with a piping hot bowl of chili!

  • Wow! I love your soda bread. To make it even more Saint. Patricky, I even added green food colouring. Yours ROX, too. Thx for the recipe! =D

  • I think I might try this

  • I think they call it Sodium Bicarbonate.

  • No that's just the technical term.

  • I'm so going to spend all day tomorrow making loaves of this bread! =0)

  • @jeremiahedwards I can't wait to try your bread :)

  • I added 2 table spoons of local honey and 1 table spoon of cinnamon to 1 recipe's worth of dough and when they came out of the oven, I added 2 table spoons of melted butter, 2 table spoons of sugar and 1 tea spoon of cinnamon mixture over the top of them. They are totally awesome! =0)

  • I wanna try this! i just might!

  • I made soda bread at home. This was really tasty with melted butter!

  • oh, I tried to make irish soda bread once. I was the MOST awfull thing I ever made. I messed up everything lol

  • eventhough its only 4 ingredients? :D:D:D

  • @12345guna12345 mine had a lot more ingredients and you know, it's usually the easier recepies that we mess up the most hahaha I think I put way too much baking soda - it was about 3 years ago, I don't really remember what I did wrong.

  • cool beans.

  • From personal experience Irish cuisine isn't exactly the best. The only place that seems to have more blah food is Iceland. About the only thing I'd eat regularly by choice is bacon & cabbage. Though I've heard that chips as in fish n' chips were invented by Irish immigrants in London, so they'd rank fairly highly.

  • CHIVES!!!

  • Wonderful recipe for the holiday

  • Not first
