This woman is a thug idiot, if your marginal revenue product is higher than you are paid for then voluntarily ask for a raise or quit. Do not be a coercive thug idiot. Anyone like that thug that acts like a criminal should be charged as such.
EVERY place I've worked women were paid the same as men. In fact, a lot of times women did way less work and got paid the same or even more. Just drive down a road that's having construction work done and see who's holding the traffic signs and who's doing the grunt work with the jackhammers and shovels! And what about women living 7 or 8 years longer than men, does this old bitty consider that?! It was old bags from the '70s that went on TV shows spreading this shit. RememberDr. Joyce Brothers?
Your degrees mean SH¡T. Many "educated" individuals have graduated to stupidity, all I got from this is that workers should NEVER discuss pay. This is why companies pay so low, someones pusy's in a bunch and she's going to court, bring it to the overreaching govt. Womens' rights is a fkn farce. Equal rights is what this country recognizes and has gotten away from!
If you feel it's unfair.... Get out if the damn company, don't cry to the govt biatch!!
Equal rights means Equal Pay for Equal Work. And management has no right to forbid workers from discussing how much each of them gets paid. If management just paid everyone what they're actually worth, these situations wouldn't happen.
Why would you call any woman a "biatch"? Somehow, I doubt you a gangsta. Did mom finally make you move out of the basement or something?
I'm glad there is more attention paid to this case because the same thing happened to me. Only in my case I am 39 and the company is based in Chicago, a "blue" state. I have a masters and experience and was doing the same job as my male coworkers. All of them were making more, including recent grads. When I would complain I was told "they needed more" or even "They work harder". All lies because I worked more hours than them. Discrimination is alive and well.
Do you know whether or not those males negotiated their pay? Did you? I've read that men are 4 times more likely than women to negotiate their salaries and this explains some of the pay differences between men and women.
that's just plain wrong...this is a perfect example of whats pulling this Nation down...that woman got fucked...and if Bush has his way she would have to have the little bastard to raise and feed....geeez.............
It's true that in general Women dont make as much money as men, but the Gap is getting smaller. This woman should be paid on equal settings as her male counterparts. She should'nt have sued just assuming that because she's a woman she gets less money. She should have talked with whomever was her boss and asked about the pay differences.
Why is anybody surprised by this decision? Have you all been living under a rock? Driving Bush-Cheney and their cronies out of Washington will only be the beginning. This kind of behavior by Corporate America is nothing new. Read some labor history and Supreme Court decisions from the 1870-1940 time period if you really want to understand that what we are seeing in the Ledbetter case is just the monster being reborn.
When you say things like "have you all been living under a rock", I think you are IMHO, missing the point. Lily Ledbtter didn't know this was even happening to her when it happened. The anonymous tip, right? Most of us know this but a lot of folks don't know that SCOTUS condoned it. This is what needs to be brought to people's attention. No one lives under a rock, folks are busy with their lives, never realizing how out of hand things have gotten.
The lady should be paid. I like the Supreme Court as an institution and wonder if its founders had Plato's Republic in mind. Plato had more faith in appointments based on merit than elections (based on popularity). But he also believed in gender equality. He lived over 2300 years aog and would still appear to be ahead of our time.
I feel we should all boycott Good{BAD}year tire and refuse to buy any and all of their products. They are discraseful and they discriminated against this woman for over twenty years and you can believe if they did this to heer they are doing it to every woman that worked for them. The men who work for them need to think this could be their wife , daughter or grandaughter, mother or aunt or niece.
I will sign on! We the people for the people must demand justice of all! Corporate America is running the show it's time to have clean elections and get the elite folks out of office and get honest people in office before they destroy us all!
Do some reading about the massive transfer of wealth that has happened in this country since the Reagan Revolution was put in place, but has dramatically accelerated since January 2001 when "activist judges" installed George W. Bush to be the "Decider" and robbing middle class Americans blind, while reciting folksy verbiage that he doesn't believe...you all bought it now stop whining about it.
Ah yes, the chickens are all coming home to roost and the ill-informed are starting to see that the GOP (Grand Oil Party) only care about making themselves and their rich friends richer, by using simple divisive tactics like "wedge issues" to dupe gullible folks into voting against their own self-interests.
The irony here is, (if I had to make a guess,)that this woman with the southern (read: Red State) accent has probably voted Republican in the last 15 elections, and it's just now hitting her that she has been voting against her own interests in order to stop those "wicked abortionists" and to keep those "fags" and "queers" from getting married, thereby removing that threat to her sanctimonious marriage.
There are many proud Southerners who are also proud Democrats. You are the one who sounds like an uptight sanctimonious idiot, ckaiser. She deserves every penny even if she does believe a fetus has a right to live.
Whether you like it or not, (or even want to admit it,) you are surrounded by people who for whatever reason, chose to vote against their own financial interests by having people represent them who don't care about them; and make the laws now being used against them; and approve Supreme Court justices who don't respect the Constitution, and then filibuster legislation that helps the common man and middle class families!
If you don't agree with this, then prove the blue state electorate wrong, and do something to change it. Until I see a map that shows anything other than my previous statements declared (all documented facts NOT sanctimonious opinions mind you!) I will continue to believe what is a well known fact...Blue States (the "elitists") pay waaaayyyyy more in taxes than they use, and Red States suck on the teat of "big government" using more "entitlements," while complaining about "states' rights."
BalthazarE: I agree with you that there are many proud southern Democrats. The maps mean nothing in as they don't tell the story of the voters, but of the electoral votes, the majority. This leaves a good many folks that did vote Democrat. Originally I'm from New Orleans and I know a lot of Southern Democrats. You can't help how your neighbor votes!
